Crazy Husband Thief replied to Make me your Dream Life's topic in Lana Thoughts
Okay not to shit on your parade…I really like your take but a while ago, I’ve also made a list of my own for a astrology-related IG page I was planning to do (I’m a bit of a geek). Honestly wasn’t a huge fan of this season. It really drags on for quite a while and most of the new characters bore the shit out of me or are really annoying. Season 3 was my favorite by far. Loved the cast, the dynamic, the humor and the cinematography.

Not the H***** stan coming back in here to troll and talk shit.
-
The problem is that one troll that keeps bringing Halsey into this thread.

Halshit gave up her artistic and creative integrity to be successful. She markets herself as this wildly extraordinary and alternative artist, yet she makes the most basic and bland music. Then she gets frustrated when her obvious attempts flop/fail. She’s just as much a mess…just in different aspects.
-
She’s an absolute mess but her music is too fucking good to not be rooting for her. We know what she is capable of when she’s all there… Something is clearly wrong and I don’t think it’s anyone else but her. However, it really seems that something mentally fucked her up a lot and that is nothing to joke about or mock her for. We can only hope that she’ll get better.
-
I think that setlist was a joke. Why would she perform the same song 5 times?
-
I can’t imagine the wrath of her fans (me included) if the countdown ends and nothing happens.
-
Yes, because some people are doing the absolute most trying to proclaim this album as her best. It‘s not and it never will be. Someone needs to counter all the overrating, so here I am.
-
Still one of her absolute worst songs in terms of lyrics. She performed this instead of Love the last time I saw her life. I was so pissed, I went for a toilet break. I honestly dislike this song to a passion.
-
Yes, we are cause it was the album that caused a huge crisis for me as a stan. It’s by no means terrible in my opinion. It’s just pretty lacking if you compare it to UV and BTD. It just feels like a contract filler. Lust for Life on the other hand feels like an album she was pretty proud of again and was eager to perform life. I think the political songs are somewhat understandable in a way. That was her mindset at the time. I do believe that the “witches in Hollywood” concept would have been cooler and more intriguing. I tried to make a playlist that somewhat showcases what it could have been like. 13 Beaches Lust for Life - 1st Demo Serene Queen Cherry White Mustang Best American Record Yosemite Heroin The End (WTWWAWWKD) God Bless America Change Young & in Love Get Free 13 songs cause I love Groupie Love and some of the other collabs but I would have preferred a cute collab EP to accompany LFL instead of putting them on an album they didn’t belong on. In My Feelings can ROT!
-
More like the opposite. To me and a lot of fans I know, LFL was sort of a return to form compared to the previous one. Honeymoon only looks good compared to the shit she pulled out later. Overall, the individual songs on Honeymoon are not discography standouts. LFL has more clear standouts (and low points) but overall it was more varied in sound and seemed more ambitious thematically.

It’s somewhere in between for me. It’s the leading album of the 4 boring ones (imo) she’s done. To me, her discography can be split into 4 cinematic and somewhat badass albums and 4 more chill, less story but sound-driven albums. Ultraviolence Born to Die Lust for Life Paradise Norman Fucking Rockwell Honeymoon Blue Banisters Chemtrails Over the Country Club

NFR is highly overrated, just as folk as a genre is. Often times it’s just so one-dimensional in an attempt to come off as artsy these days. Jack winning a Grammy despite producing some of the worst alt-girl albums is proof enough. As a Lana fan of the first minute I am experiencing a huge drought. I miss the cinematic and ethereal soundscape that made images pop up in my head. I also miss the Lana that cared about music videos and extravagant looks but she is looong dead.

Blue Banisters - Post-Release Discussion Thread + Poll
Crazy Husband Thief replied to Elle's topic in Post-Release Threads
Yall did Text Book so wrong. Easily one of the few good songs on there. I don’t hate Living Legend, Nectar of the Gods & Cherry Blossom tbh. I was just never particularly crazy about them.Seeing them as part of this album though…they just come off as total fillers and it shows why they never made it onto an album before. They needed to be reworked. -
I am so disappointed. This is actually so so lazy! Most of these mixes are already available, the artwork is ugly and the remixes they selected are the most generic mixes of the singles. That said, the song selection is also quite absurd. Why is fucking Me Against the Music there but not one of her own Dance #1s like Causing a Commotion or the Lucky Star and Angel that charted alongside Holiday and Into the Groove? They should stop putting out these pointless and unorganised anniversary editions and instead put her damn singles catalogue on streaming.

How do you feel about Lana's leaked songs?
Crazy Husband Thief replied to Mileena 's topic in Lana Thoughts
People who preach about abstinence from leaked unreleased material are kind of like the people who preach about abstinence from sex before marriage. They think it will grant them the graces from the person/thing they idolize. The truth is, what’s out is out. People not listening to things that have leaked won't change the fact that they have leaked. Neither will it result in Lana writing you a personal letter, declaring you her best fans. Actually, her putting leaked material on Blue Banisters could actually be a direct result of her songs leaking. Her interest in releasing unreleased material and outtakes sparked out of the popularity of her unreleased catalogue. Songs she once considered not good enough for a release, were possibly reevaluated by her.- 76 replies

If you don’t give a fuck, why did you reply?

The success part pretty much confirms what I said before. Her label and management did everything in their power to make sure she'd get a few hits. They changed her music, her style numerous times until something would stick. Sadly nothing about her is truly authentic. Her first video was a straight up copy of Night Time, My Time. New Americana was a carbon copy of National Anthem for gen Z. When all of that didn’t stick, they made her a sellout and even went against her wishes of making more punk-oriented music. Unlike Halsey, Lana and Sky didn’t oblige to the wishes of their labels. Lana also has Ben and Ed who stick up a lot for her. Things really started to change for Lana when they didn’t let her release Cola as a single and when they almost didn’t let her release West Coast as the lead for UV (they were pushing for Black Beauty). That’s when she really stopped giving a fuck and when they stopped investing into her in terms of promo etc.
