  2. The Revolution of Dignity you mean? Which resulted in the ousting of a Pro-Russian President who rejected to sign a trade agreement that was supported widely in both Parliament and by the everyday Ukrainian civilians? Why in the world would you be against that--it ended in victory, and the Ukrainian people got the freedoms they wanted with a new democratically elected President. Also I love how your comment makes it seem like there's such thing as a "legal" coup lol.
  3. No I'm sorry I don't agree with you. While I am all for playing devils-advocate and analyzing the opposing view point, there's a line between understanding and agreeing. Agreeing is active, it involves taking a stance. Your stance, or lack thereof, wavers between "understanding" (the first time you've used that word) and making implications that you are agreeing ("you absolutely can", "Russia has every right", to quote your own words previously).
  4. You cannot accuse anyone of acting in "bad faith" when the two statements you just made contradict each other...you're trying to both be against the invasion and also argue that it was justified?
  5. what?!? You’re calling the invasion of a sovereign country a “precaution”?!?
  6. “Ukraine has a history of Nazism”. Ok. We can all research and come to the same conclusion…but what’s the point? At this moment; in this thread—what is your point and purpose of mentioning it? Germany also has deep ties to Nazism (duh), does that mean the wall never should’ve never come down? I just don’t see the importance of that in this moment I’m sorry. It has nothing to do with what’s being done now.

She probably took this screenshot playing the game 2 weeks ago on Tuesday, Feb 22nd tbh lol
  8. Sure. If "whatever the hell Putin wants" doesn't result in an enormous death toll in a foreign country. Joining NATO would not be a risk to any Russian civilian, and in all honesty, it wouldn't be a risk to anyone. NATO would not have started bombing Russia if Ukraine joined its ranks. You can not make such broad and equivocal comparisons.

So was February 22, so it could just be an old photo with an old date.
  10. Plus the chain of commander who have to carry out his orders are also not suicidal. Someone would simply refuse, if history serves any indication

Wordle 259 3/6 🟨⬛⬛⬛🟩 ⬛🟩🟩⬛🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 My best was 2/6. shake. total guess. Does anyone have a starting word they prefer?
  12. i think that would classify as a suicide attempt not a civil war lmao...how would you use a nuke on one half of your population?
  13. im not judging or shading I’m just wondering why you believe Putin’s talking points on this topic?
  14. lol thanks but there are ppl here who are way more knowledgeable than me i've honestly learned a lot from @The Siren and @Rorman Nockwell in this thread
  15. depends on who you are? Americans: we only go after weak countries. We won't get involved aside from selling arms and artillery to Europe. Then after Europe blows itself to kingdom come (a war on the same continent most likely won't devolve to nuclear war, so dw about that, just regular missiles + cyber warfare), we can ensure the US remains the world super power for another 70 odd years by being the only major western country not in flames. We'll probably join the peace talks, create a new treaty/organization to "prevent something like this happening again" yada yada. Unlike WW1 and 2, we won't get involved in the war because we don't have to worry about our merchant ships being affected (in the case of the former), and a country like Japan in WW2 won't be dumb enough to randomly attack us. Europeans: Sit with each other in the trenches probably. Rest of the world: probably not much.
  16. Oh ya that’s how a world war starts.
  17. in the 50s, yes. they shouldn't have. but in the 70s, they should've. they created that mess and the shah was their ally. if ford had won or reagan was president during that time, the revolution wouldn't have happened--bc no other president would have corresponded with radical islamists behind the back of a pro-western, secular friend. carter was the worst thing to happen to our world.
  18. iran didn't use to be deeply religious. it was secular. the biggest tragedy in the middle east was the 79 revolution.
  19. Selfishly, I hope this potential Russian failure will also make US/Europe rethink their Iran strategy. They also need to sanction them to within an inch of their life--enough with BS talks, don't negotiate with terrorists/human right violators. There's a reason so many Persian-Americans are Republican leaning, at least Trump got ONE thing right. Take down Russia, take down Iran. Down with dictators.
  20. i actually doubt Putin will go. He’ll send others. The man’s paranoid. Rightfully ig.
  21. Let’s see how the talks go. Ukrainian forces pushed Russians out of the 2nd largest city—they’re making the Russian army look really bad. Russian soldiers tried sneaking in wearing civilian clothing and were told to fuck off.
  22. I feel like SpaceX should provide Russian people with access to unfiltered internet (if possible) as well. Universal free internet is a cornerstone of functional democracy.
  23. Has Putin even been heard of/seen since this (the invasion) began?
  24. I think there's a tiny sliver of hope there? If the upper class continues to be anti-war. The Russian people (and please correct me if I'm wrong, as you clearly would be more knowledgable, I'm just going by observation), though at mercy to govt propaganda on a lot of their media, are much more sophisticated and worldly than the people of N. Korea, e.g. They have access to social channels, quite a few of them have traveled to other places in Europe (tho that might be a thing of the past, as Russian budget airlines lose landing rights). They also have friends and family in the area that's being bombed. Yes there is still a scary amount of control the govt exerts through fear, but I feel like they could lose control of the population very quickly. Espc if the upper classes lead the way.
