  1. The Witch on the Corner  was actually a children's book from 1966, in which the neighborhood children call the lady who lives on their street a "witch" so often, she actually decides to go out and learn the magic of the dark arts. The kids discover her trying to fly on a broom, and decide to help her master the dark arts, which she eventually does.

I'm not exactly sure what the moral of the story is? "Embrace what they label you?" or "Become who you want others to perceive you as?"

  2. i said this before but it got lost in the violet's thread...

the line "I took a free ride off a billionaires jet" sent a shiver down my spine, since I had just been reading about the latest news in the Epstein/Maxwell case...I hope right-wing, crazy "Q" Trump supporters don't come for her--she's already been getting enough internet hate these past few months :(

  3. Not trying to launch a personal attack because I fight people all the time and I'm sure I piss heaps of people off, but ....

The dude literally argues with everyone in a condescending manner, and when people present him with actual facts, he either ignores them or pretends that the facts presented to him don't make a difference to his point (which is usually based on the incorrect fact).

Like you find Swagger's post rude but you think it's okay to tell people they don't know how to read? Which was condescending af, because he was the person who had it wrong.

sorry, i didn't realize that that user had told someone they dont know how to read--and if they did, theyre in the wrong too...I just wanted to make a point that unnecessary ad hominem attacks aren't really helpful to discussing divisive issues that clearly impact real life people more than we can understand or know

  4. user AlexParliament has been terrorizing this site for the last week straight, please Lana drop something to distract him!

really rude, you realize there are actual human beings with feelings behind every avatar...this could hurt someone; labeling someone who's clearly passionate about an artist as "terrorizing" a forum is uncalled for imo--regardless of wether you agree with them or not on a divisive issue

  5. does anyone have anymore back ground on Jack? His wikipedia entry doesnt really discuss how he got his start in music--is he classically trained/self taught? He certainly has an amazing ear for layering, riffs, and really unique chord progressions; which makes me think he might not be classically trained (I was trained in piano and musical theory, and it's quite shocking how much they preach "in the box" thinking)

Elaborating on the speculation that this was the album cover shoot:

I can't tell if the photographer is a man wearing a cap or a woman with her blonde hair tied into a ponytail/low bun but my guess is the latter. Nicole Nodland has blonde hair.

Chuck usually uses medium format film to shoot her pictures, and this camera looks like a digital; the camera appears to be a DSLR, which is considered digital. Nicole's go-to cameras for her shoots with Lana were P25+ by Phase One and EOS 5D Mark II by Canon, which are DSLR cameras.

We also see someone holding a light reflector, who is likely Nicole's assistant. Lana has said before that her shoots with Chuck are pretty casual, so I'm assuming it would just be the two of them and some friends relying on flash or natural light, as we can see in the HM, LFL and NFR covers. This looks more formal, as Nicole's editorial style sees her operate differently than someone with a more artistic and candid sensibility like Chuck.

The blue convertible Lana is in also seems to be the same car that Sean owns, pictured here: https://twitter.com/sean_c_larkin/status/1246248286203318274

TL;DR: Nicole Nodland shot the album cover on December 17, 2019 - it will likely be a portrait of Lana in Sean's blue convertible with chemtrails photoshopped into the sky above.

who are you who are so wise in the ways of Lana <3

i'm so glad we're getting another car shoot! and that styling looks stunning in that LQ fan shoot!

  7. It does matter, though, because performative allyship is ... not it.

If you wanna bury your head in the sand that's your business.

Whilst the relationship is unconfirmed I'll refrain from saying more, however.

"performative allyship" is not applicable when an individual takes time out of their personal schedule to visit marginalized communities and actively engage in one-on-one conversations with them. That is true and direct activism.

furthermore, "burying my head in the sand" is actually just "minding my own business when it comes to someone's personal life"--judging someone's moral purity based on who they fall in love with does not contribute to solving any real world problems. Wether Lana does or does not date a cop, and may visit him in Tusla, does not impact wether or not there is racial injustice in the world one way or another...those two things are not mutually exclusive.

the constant outrage of "oh no she shouldn't date a cop because cops are bad and thus she must be bad" is the definition of "performative allyship". it serves no purpose.

  8. Whose page?

Isn't it funny how when Lana mentioned this trip she named New Mexico, Arizona and Utah? Not Oklahoma? Yet she's been in Tulsa for almost a week.

I know plans change, but it's almost as if she didn't mention it because she's trying to hide a (very controversial) relationship or something.

    :coffee:

Or maybe she just doesn’t mention it because it really shouldn’t matter to anyone how she chooses to spend her free time? Just because she wants to visit her possible BF, doesn’t mean her good work is completely negated?

  9. I think the Lucky Ones demo with the heavy drums is super reminiscent of Nancy Sinatra so I could see something in that vein being the “bop” of this album - its warm guitars would fit in really well, and of course the obvious lyrics from chorus if we’re talking about star signs and being in love!

i would love this album to have sounds along the lines of Lucky Ones and Lolita demos...those upbeat 60s vibes with the four-on-the-floor drum beats matched with the glittery guitars are heavenly

  10. I think the issue moreso is your idea that only music that “talks about the human condition” can be classified as art, it’s pretty pretentious and false

i guess what i meant was that i find the lyrics to lack any real depth or narrative, which i think all artists strive to do. i never said her work shouldn't be classified as art, i just said it misses the mark of what any artist would want to try to accomplish.
