  1. A&W being the first track of her Spotify "This is LDR" playlist... as it should You are 100% valid in your opinion but I can guarantee you looking back on the pop icons of the 2010's and singer songwriters in general Lorde will not be as acclaimed as Lana
  2. Lorde is fun to listen to but looking back she looks soooo bad saying allat. Her criticisms about Lana mean nothing in the long run. I'm not talking about streams or success really; I'm talking about the long-lasting legacy Lana will leave behind... and Lorde's lack of it. Lana changed pop culture and has cemented herself as one of the best singer-songwriters in American history. Ultraviolence is another sound that I wish she'd return to, I admit for nostalgic reasons, but I remember hearing it for the first time and having a moment with myself and thinking, "Music can sound like this???" I was youngggg but even ten years later I really haven't heard anything like UV. Cat Power's Moonpix maybe, but there's something about UV's psychedelic production, mixing, lyrics that really nothing can compare to. And quite frankly I don't even want to listen to an album and think "Oh wow, this sounds like Ultraviolence"–– it can stand alone and be its own thing. In terms of Ocean Boulevard, I don't really know why people are convinced that her lyrics and ideas are so different from how she started. I'm gonna have a hot take here (if you disagree pls don't flame me but I've been thinking about this for a while) I think Born To Die / Paradise is a collection of songs chronicling the epitome of naiveté and youth. Her music is NO LONGER NAIVE. She's wiser. I think this is why people claim she's being pretentious in her new music... when really, I think people want her to stay young and stupid forever especially in a society that celebrates youth. She has different priorities now, and even in her more mature age, she STILL sings about those similar ideas
  3. She will not be able to top 21. "Hello" was a moment for the culture but that's about it.
  4. This. To me, this explains why BTD is such a unique part of her discography. She never returned to the sound because it wasn't entirely 100% her choice. She approved it certainly, but I assume that production style pushed her out of her comfort zone and she never wanted to revisit that style. Edit: I hear a lot of AKA Lizzy Grant in Ocean Boulevard. So, I feel like she's come full circle and BTD was its own island of tracks.
  5. I can really tell she was heavily influenced by Britney during the 2011-2013 era
  6. "My curves, San Gabriel all day" is actually one of her best little vocal performances. And I know she agrees bc on the Jimmy Fallon live, she did the entire thing live EXCEPT this one part. Put the two side by side and listen Otherwise I agree she's off-key in many parts of the song
  7. Great! I saw her in Jan 2018 so I know she's not opposed to doing winter tours

I love that song. I remember being 13 when I heard it for the first time, I'm 23 now. One of my fave off Sirens. Time flies

I do think a lot of the relationship conflicts she's addressed in her life could stem from her family life, particularly her mom. I don't personally know the psychological effects of having a flawed relationship with your mother, but I assume it's pretty damaging. "And my momma, she would say that I deceived you But that's the only way I knew how to begin"
  10. sometimes i feel awksies commenting on a woman's body but she is SO FINE
  11. I looooove Fishtail I just wish her vocals were stronger and less breathier at certain points I hear Kate Bush in Grandfather
  12. I'm happy about this but I will say of all the unreleased, SYTH doesn't even breach my top 25
  13. Is a tour looking less and less likely? Perhaps there's a chance she'll tour the fall/winter since she's doing a bunch of festivals this summer
  14. A&W RADIO VERSION IS UNBEARABLE LMAOOOOOO "this is the experience of being an american "
  15. I love how all of us like to search for images of Lana to fit the right album cover ✨aesthetic✨
  16. I agree. Fishtail is the weakest track on the record in my opinion (if we're not counting Judah Smith interlude). It's still beautiful, but feels like an LFL outtake to me. "Ella Fitzgerald in the air" totally reminds me of The Blackest Day "All I hear is Billie Holiday..." And I do also agree with Fantano's critique of how the record ended. I loved peppers, but I'm not the biggest fan of Taco Truck x VB. I think it could've ended differently. How? I don't know.. just differently.
  17. Wow. I can't believe Fantano gave her a - She really fucking deserves it. I don't agree with Fantano on a lot (the Ultraviolence review baffles me to this day), but to see that after 9 albums into her career she's just getting better and better according to critics?? That's incredibly rare. I hope people know that she has cemented herself into the American singer-songwriters forever. Born To Die was lightning in a bottle, but to continue to make record after great record, when many other artists peak... she's rare. So proud of her
  18. I Don't Wanna Go turned into Lake Placid
  19. I cannot stop listening to candy necklace. It is so haunting. One of my favorite songs from 2019+
