Taylor is doing the Taylor's Version of her albums to protest the fact that Scooter Braun bought her entire music catalog without her consent, and she wants to own her own music and masters. I don't think Lana has had any issue about fighting over her masters, so she has no reason to do this. I hope to see Lana release one or more compilation of unreleased, b-sides, covers, etc. She could include a few acoustic versions or alternate versions on this compilation, like the demo versions of some of the Lust for Life tracks. But there is literally no reason for Lana to go back and rerecord her entire discography. I would rather she focus her time and creativity on other projects.

So I assume that if the songs have been reworked, there is a good chance the length would change slightly. For Nectar, Cherry Blossom, and Living Legend, the leaked versions are the same length as the album version, which makes me inclined to believe they have not changed at all or only minor changes. The Thunder album version is ten seconds shorter than the leak, and the Dealer album version is four seconds longer than the leak. This makes me inclined to believe these songs have been reworked for the album. I love Thunder and Dealer, but I always felt that they are the two outliers on this album sonically. Like the album is super lush and soft and all the songs are almost lullaby, and then we have these two Last Shadow Puppets hazy rock songs that sound like you're in some smokey dive bar. Trio is a different sound than the other songs also but somehow it has its place and it fits. Thunder and Dealer are gorgeous songs but they just sound so out of place next to the other songs. I'll be happy and not surprised if these two songs have been rerecorded to have instrumentals that are more cohesive with the sound of the album.

I know a lot of people on here are kind of anti caring about Lana and the Grammys and other awards, so if that's you then you can just ignore this. I'm one of the people that still cares and holds on to hope that Lana will be a Grammy winner someday. Anyway, I'm wondering if BB the album is going to be Grammy eligible. The eligibility requirement says that 75% of the playtime of an album has to be recorded in the last five years. I am pretty certain that 75% of these songs are new, but Nectar, Cherry Blossom and Living Legend are all definitely older songs. But are all the other songs definitely recent? And will that be enough to reach 75% of the playtime? Also, BB won't be eligible until the 2023 Grammys, but Chemtrails and the three singles will all be eligible for the upcoming 2022 Grammys. I'm wondering if Lana will submit Chemtrails songs or one of the three singles this year. I am afraid Lana's release schedule is hurting her Grammy odds. Chemtrails is now pretty old to get noticed for a Grammy this year, and BB will be over a year old by the 2023 Grammys.

And as for BB in my album rankings, I am anticipating top three. There are already enough amazing songs on BB to put it ahead of BTD, Paradise, Honeymoon, LFL and COCC as long as most of the unheard tracks are decent/not bad. If the unheard tracks are beautiful and there are not many skips/filler, and if the album flows cohesively, I could see this edging out UV for #2. If all the unreleased are masterpieces and among the best of Lana's songs, then it could edge out NFR for #1. Right now I am expecting BB will probably be #3 or #2 for me.

My ranking of album openers: 1. NFR 2. White Dress 3. Born to Die 4. Ride 5. Cruel World 6. Love 7. Honeymoon 8. Kill Kill 9. Text Book Songs 1 through 7 are songs that I love. Songs 8 and 9 are just OK to me.

Genius is not always a reliable source, and yeah anyone could have edited the lyrics, but having Lana recite some Sylvia Plath as an album interlude feels entirely plausible. The word "beautiful" is in the first sentence of the lyrics, Lana has already recited T.S. Elliot for the Burnt Norton Interlude, and we know Lana idolizes Plath and has already referenced her in Hope and in her poetry, and Lana likes to repeat the same themes and motifs in her music so this just seems like something she would do. I am really hoping Beautiful is not a poetry interlude, because the album already has the Trio Interlude and there are so few songs on the album that I haven't already heard. But also, the Blue Bannisters Wikipedia page lists the writing credits for each of the songs, and Sylvia Plath is not listed as a writer for Beautiful, so that would suggest that the Sylvia Plath lyrics are fake. Does anyone know where those writing credits came from, and if we can trust them? I was also wondering if there is going to be a cover song on the album, or if Sweet Carolina is possibly a cover of Sweet Caroline (please no). But if those writing credits are true, it seems like Sweet Carolina is an original song and there are no cover songs on the album.

I am so excited for this album, but the one thing that makes me sad is that there are only five songs that I haven’t heard yet. We basically already know the album is going to be amazing because we have already heard a majority of it. I’m glad the dealer leak is LQ, so I can still look forward to hearing the HQ version, so I have six tracks to look forward to. I hope a few of the tracks are slightly reworked just so that I have a little more new music to enjoy when the album drops.

Are we assuming Nectar of the Gods is Color Blue (Wild on You)? Cause in the opening line she says “What sweet world is this? nectar of the Gods”. She has in the past reused lines or titles from other songs, but this song does seem to fit next to Cherry Blossom. I’m like 80% sure they are the same song but does anyone know for certain?

Arcadia is so beautiful! I have a feeling we are going to get a top three LDR album, sitting next to NFR and UV in my personal trinity. For me, the production style and melody is like a downtempo Paradise. I’m loving the return to the baroque chamber pop sound with more lush sounding strings and piano composition. The emotion and the storytelling and lyricism is like NFR/Chemtrails. I really feel Fine China would have fit into this album perfectly, but maybe she will save that for her unreleased compilation. I also love Dealer and that is one of her most intense and unique vocal performances she has ever served, but she made the right choice not putting it on Chemtrails. It’s very pissed off and anxious sounding. I’m not really certain dealer will fit on BB either, but will wait until I see how the album flows before I make my judgment. One question: I know the Grammy has some eligibility rule that a certain percent of the songs on an album need to have been written or recorded in the last few years for an album to be eligible at the Grammy’s. Will all the old songs on this make BB ineligible at the Grammy’s? That would just be criminal. It is Lana’s turn to get her god damn Grammy and I would die inside if some stupid rule blocks her eligibility.

Now that I have had time to let those three singles settle into my brain, here is my ranking. Blue Bannisters has aged beautifully. Even the opening verse which I initially did not like has grown on me. I’ve noticed more and more detail and meaning in the lyrics. This stands among Lana’s best work and is absolutely timeless. Wildflower Wildfire is a beautiful track. The chorus is a really nice climax, just full of passion. This one is not quite as emotional or beautiful as BB for me. I listen to it less now that it not that new, and the weird drums at the end still bother me, but I still love this one. Textbook is not a bad song, but beyond being catchy this one doesn’t really resonate with me on a deeper emotional level. This one I only listen to occasionally now. -

Literally deep house and techno are theeee gayest genres. If you think that techno is straight people music clearly you have never been to a BDSM/leather party -

Agreed This comment burns my eyes, what is the reason?? Who could ever maintain an erection while listening to Lana Del Rey?? Put on some deep house, dirty funk, techno, passionate bedroom indie, emotional ambient. Music that has a groove to it and is actually sensual. -

First I want to wish all of my LGBTQIA Lana family a happy pride! Love every single one of you. And is Lana seriously not gonna say something? I don’t even know what to think anymore about what may or may not happen in 6 days -

I just saw Lana’s IG story. I only ever saw that Taurus emoji on some Grindr profile before so I literally thought it was a sideways 69 and didn’t know it’s a Taurus symbol. think I preferred it as a 69. This era almost seems too good to be true. No delays, no leaks, no releasing half the album and a million snippets early, no QFTC, and only a few months of waiting which flew by. And Doja Cat is dropping Friday to tide me over until July 4. I am preparing for the worst and will try not to be too disappointed if it’s delayed. I would rather have something go wrong with the release than with the album itself. BoZ seems to suggest that it’s coming soon, but the scrapped tracks thing has me worried. -

I do not like the BLM line, because it comes off as narcissistic virtue signaling. She said “and I saw you saw who I am”, so in the end the whole BLM line is about how Lana’s man can see her virtue and how that makes her feel virtuous, and she makes the whole movement about her. Of the three songs, TB really has not aged well for me. All the daddy lyrics make me cringe, and the chorus melody is very catchy but just seems like a generic pop melody. There are still a lot of things about this song that I like, but I stopped listening to TB mostly. WF and and BB are still good though. -

I'm watching Mike Dean on Twitch. He's not talking about Lana, but I missed the first 18 min so I don't know if he was talking about her earlier. It seems like they are talking about politics so maybe they won't talk about Lana at all. -

The COCC MV is high budget and nicely done with some beautiful shots, but the concept of "good girl by day bad girl by night" is just kind of obvious and cliche, and the whole video is just doing too much. It gives big label pop MV vibes while White Dress MV gives art vibes like she has transcended pop-stardom and become a real star. I also have a grudge against the COCC MV because the the album cover was a BTS shot from that MV, so if they had never filmed that MV then maybe we would have got a decent album cover! Manifesting we don't get that Pics Art selfie for BB. What are we predicting for the Blue Bannisters cover? After two albums of inviting random people onto her album cover, I am hoping she is alone on the cover this time but NOT a selfie. -

I was with you 100% until that last sentence, but White Dress MV is just sublime. It has the best cinematography of any of her MV, the golden hour landscapes and rural Americana set are gorgeous. The young Lana actor and the choreography and long tracking shots are all gorgeous. Of all of her videos, this is one the one that brings the world of the song to life, it is my favorite Lana MV along with Ride. I swooned at the scene with the roller blade dance on the pirate ship. I really don't understand the hate for this video. Maybe it's because she used a body double (the video would not have worked with 35 year old Lana as a rollerblading waitress singing about being 19), or maybe people just want campy theatrical COCC MV Lana rather than art goddess Lana? If this video didn't click for you, try not watching it on your phone screen and throw it up onto a big TV if you have one. -
I like these songs a lot! This era is kind of reminding me of NFR because she is writing these long and wordy songs. It also definitely seems like she is looking back and revisiting her past eras! 1. Wildflower Wildfire - Just gorgeous. This doesn’t sound like any other song she has done before. It’s soaring, passionate and rich sounding. I am not fond of the drums at the end though 2. Text Book - never thought I would hear the return of Daddy Issues Del Rey! Beautiful vocals and melody. The minor key part of the song is noir-ish and jazzy and sounds like Honeymoon. Then the major key part is melodically similar to one of her pre-fame unreleased pop songs, but I can’t place which one. When she yells “Black Lives Matter” it was a little cringe for some reason, but I guess it’s better than doubling down on QFTC. The daddy lyrics are a little uncomfortable. 3. Blue Bannisters - This is melancholic HIADT style Lana. Some parts of this song are just perfect. I didn’t expect this song would be about Lana’s girl friends, and I hate the name drops on this one. The ambient fuzz in the production is just beautiful.

It would be interesting if Mike worked on the QFTC songs. It seems like Mike is always involved in all of these statement albums recently like Yeezus and Lemonade. I feel like he would be the type to encourage Lana to say something extreme just to troll everyone. But also at the same time, if her lyrics about QFTC are too Karen-ish then I don’t think he would want to be associated. I also just realized something, that his new album 4:22 is pronounced like “4:20 2” as in like the sequel to his other album 4:20, clever!
