What if her "voice memo songs" are similar to the lizzy laptop acapella demos (but with actual production added to the final thing) :brows:

omfg our minds. I was wondering that this morning on my way to research:oprah2:

imagine if LDR9 is like Violet x Lizzy Grant Demos….I would like to see it:flutter:

the past few days i’ve been watching the lfl recording sessions that lana filmed and im really hoping she does that again.

Imagine it’s a video (with Chuck recording) of Lana singing into her iPhone & then texting it to Drew Erickson with a message like “work your magic<3” & that’s our behind the scenes look:ma:

Mostly kidding, but I’d love to see Lana interacting with Jack and Drew in the studio. She’s known for essentially being stubborn in the studio (Jack said so himself), so I’d love to see how hands-on she is as well!

i mean I'm just now remembering that she was working with Jack again and Jack mentioned "tuning 808s"?? It seems like 2 very different things are happening at once???

I’ve been trying to rationalize this myself. I think it’s definitely possible to see both the bombastic songs and the wordy/conversational ones on the same record, but who knows.

I mean, who would have guessed we’d get Dealer and Cherry Blossom on the the same album lol. Then again, maybe she’s saving the more upbeat ones for LDR10 or a later record.

It’s even more confusing when you factor in her collab requests/wishes (Migos, Pusha T, Kali Uchis, etc.). I’m really not sure, but I’m curious to see! Hopefully the answer will be clear after LDR9 is released lol

I just hope Jack doesn't get in the way and we get to see the real unedited rambling that comes out of Lana's mouth when she's angry and not the sugar coated version he'd want to put out to not get associated with any "controversy" :wtf3:

he dated Lena Dunham so I think we’re in the clear:ma:

If this album really is conversational and wordy, I’d love a track like this, but I know it’s certainly not everyone’s taste.

If you take the time to let this track simmer, the seemingly nonsensical lyrics construct this really simple but profound message.

Especially after hearing Lana’s performance on Violet, I think Lana could do something similar in a really poetic way on LDR9.

  6. Something I love about NFR that I hope to see in LDR9 is that—despite it being more stripped back—it contained really unique and easily identifiable production elements that really made you feel like you were escaping into NFR’s little bubble.

For example, the varying electronic elements stitched into songs like FIILY, Venice Bitch, Cinnamon Girl, etc. really made the record feel cohesive without the tracks feeling indistinguishable. Not only that, but I feel that it elevated NFR from being a typical pop-folk record and almost placed the record into a genre of its own.

Even if LDR9 ends up having my least favorite genre influences, I hope the production choices feel very intentional and that the songs won’t suffer from sameness. Hopefully that makes sense lol

I'm curious if the plastic bag song is a Drew BB outtake. BOZ told us around July that she was reworking the tracklist so it's possible this is an OG BB outtake

I’m also curious if this is one of the same tracks that an insider (possibly BOZ?) was sad that she scrapped. What if Plastic Bag is her magnum opus:oprah2:

  8. I think the suggested writer’s block won’t impact LDR9 very much considering she’s taking a new approach to songwriting on this record via automatic singing.

I think that—because of how extremely diaristic her recent works have been—she simply needs more life experiences to continue to fuel that more autobiographical style.

Because of this, I expect LDR9‘s darker songs’ writing to resemble LA Who Am I To Love You, whereas the happier tracks may be more similar to the nonsensical (in a good way) ramblings of songs like Venice Bitch.

I have a feeling LDR9 will contain some of her best lyrical moments but potentially some not-so-well-received ones because of how impromptu the composition of the record sounds.

Either way, I’m super excited. I feel like this record will have the detached, almost philosophical overtones of Honeymoon but will perhaps lack the saturation of Lanaisms and grandeur.

    We’ll see! :)

  9. Dreaming in No Color ????

….a play on the phrase “dreaming in technicolor” which normally denotes being wildly unrealistic. We’ve even seen her toy with this concept before in Get Free

    There’s no more chasing rainbows/

And hoping for an end to them/

    Their arches are illusions/

    Solid at first glance.”

    just an unrealistic guess lol

  10. With the information we have, I almost feel like LDR9 will be the musical equivalent to Violet, but instead of channeling her headspace through colorful imagery, she’s giving us her pure, unfettered thoughts and emotions.

People (including myself) always say she has such a captivating way of speaking, and I think utilizing her own conversational tone (and deliberately accenting it instrumentally) will make LDR9 perhaps her most unique record to date.

I think candor will be a reoccurring theme throughout the album, but I don’t think it will have the same degree of autobiography that Blue Banisters had; rather, I think we’ll likely get jolted into her current pains, musings, and experiences.

I’m definitely anticipating some snarky, on-the-nose moments now. I think we’ll also get some philosophical pondering, especially regarding her family, karma, and destiny. I’m also getting ready for some nonsensical lyrics that may naturally come from immediate lyricism (think Kurt Cobain).

I’m excited! Sonically, I have no idea if we’ll see anything new, but orchestras and an 808….I’m intrigued:brows:
