  1. I can’t wait for this album! I feel like “text book” is such a culmination of all her greatest melodies/progressions. These one won’t make sense until you sing it in your head (do it!) but... TEXT BOOK x BORN TO DIE You got a Thunderbird My daddy has one too Sometimes love is not enough and the road gets tough I don’t know why Keep makin’ me laugh Let’s go get high... TEXT BOOK x CHANGE And there we were screaming “Black lives matter” In the crowd by the Old Man River (conceptually NOT a match but sing it into this melody...) Who am I to sympathize when no one gave a damn? I've been thinkin' it's just someone else's job to care Who am I to wanna try?
  2. Jack just confirmed Lana is on a Bleachers’ track called “Secret Life” - probably out on 7/30 when their album releases https://instagram.com/stories/bleachersmusic/2578139282705652014?utm_medium=copy_link
  3. I love all three tracks and don’t have any complaints, but one note: could you IMAGINE WW with UV-style production?! Add a couple electric guitars and a cheaper mic and bam you get Shades of Cool 2.0
  4. Thank you so much, I feel the same way about your posts friendship fest!
  5. I cannot get over this classic Americana imagery she has painted for us; summer coming and going, homemade birthday cakes, chicken running and being barefoot in the yard, hot coffee on a hot day, vintage Ford cars, painting banisters, and dogs swimming in a salty bay... What I love most about her songbook is the feeling, how you can almost stand in that moment with her as she’s singing and see the sights, smell the scents, hear the goings-on. It’s like a painting come to life. These scenes could easily be from an Edward Hopper, or more uncannily, Norman Rockwell painting.
  6. Do any other Twin Peaks fans hear the Audrey Horne dance vibes in Text Book? (xylophone? can’t determine exactly what that sound is but it’s the same!)
  7. My initial ranking was TB > BB > WW but now I’m already second-guessing that and keep wanting to replay WW WE’VE BEEN FED GOOD OMGGGGGGG sonic poetryyyyyyy
  8. Guys help! The chorus of text book sounds melodically so similar to one of her other songs and I cannot for the life of me think of what it is but I almost want to start singing it! Any clues?
  9. “The diamonds, the rust, and the rain” shoutout to Joan
  10. GUYS ITS LETTING ME PLAY TEXT BOOK ON APPLE MUSIC!!!! RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG ITS AMAZINGGGGGG
  11. GUYS BB SHOWS UP AS A SINGLE IF YOU SEARCH IT ON APPLE MUSIC!!!!! If you click it says item not available!!!!!!!!
  12. What is this talk about AS&C?... edit: these cruel jokes kill me!!!!! I was so excited for that xmas album to be played like this
  13. If it helps, people have scrobbled all three tracks on last.fm, like two insiders at least
  14. Right?! You couldn’t pay me to put forward “too cool to care” as legitimate
  15. Honestly you gotta love that all these fakers do it on Notepad so the text looks courier sans/HTML code-y the dedication!
  16. She also always ends her albums with an emo slow song unless there’s bonus tracks. So WW is *not* it
  17. Love that she’s doing the sassy little inflections again!!!!
  18. Yes yes DTWD was the first thing I thought of! Sort of like a Grateful Dead/Tom Petty Americana rock situation
  19. Watch him share a snippet on each social media platform lol - good exposure/follower-building tactic for him (not like he really needs it tho) we’ll see! Snippet one - Tik Tok
  20. WW SNIPPET ONE ON MIKE’S TIKTOK https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMetgjQFx/ edit: super short but has kind of a heartland piano rock vibe? Really hard to tell much beyond that...
  21. Hello, insider here, just want to let you know that Elizabeth Grant sings on the album. She’s a new collaborator, probably the best one yet
  22. Isn’t it sooo good? I love that EP and can totally see Lana blending in seamlessly and melodically with that style
  23. Something I haven’t seen anyone mention is Mike’s work w/ Dermot Kennedy, an Irish folk-hop(ish) artist. I think we can probably expect WW to resemble it somewhat, perhaps more than his hip hop work! Mike Dean did a whole EP with Dermot and this was the most popular song—very ethereal yet sparse with synths and trap beats over heavy rhythmic drums: https://open.spotify.com/track/279wTl3jHhGbPLSYlkMNZC?si=kghxoDvCTaC4vJE6-bffTA
