32 minutes ago, honeymoon is alive said:they will debut billie’s lead single that will feature lana isn’t that obvious
i meam that would be such a smart PR move. Huge festival, huge crowd, live stream.
also, billie teasing her album right before this appearance with lana.
also, her album content reeking if lana. the collab is HAPPENING.

Yeah, that guy was over the whole thing before he even arrived. What's more, he seems to be checked out of his career completely, not having released a record in about 5 years and focusing on his f-ing jewelry shop, etc.
What a waste. He used to be my fav male singer. I replaced him with The Weekend as my number 1.

Apparently, tickets were slow and sales are down. Quite surprising given that it's not just Lana but also Doja Cat, Tyler, Ice Spice, etc.

She needs to nail this.

Okay, so since Billie is literally there, and her new album REEKS of Lana - is it safe to assume that they have a collab and it will premier at Coachella?

Yeah, it's her strongest opening trio in a while - stronger than BB's and OB's imo.

"I was at Coachella, leanin' on your shoulder
*Light switches and Lana comes and sings a mashup of Coachella, Groupie love and God bless America.
*Then some HUGE BOPS And guests (Asap, Abel and Stevie would be perfect)
*Few of the last songs could be slower because I love her slow songs but I think that Coachella should be like mostly upbeat but I need atleast one slower song
*Then she'd leave 5 minutes before her show is supposed to end and the lights turn down and then there's a big screen with 9/20 in it and huge writing of LASSO and then she'd come back and announce the lead single
A girl can dream But to be fair I'm 127% fine with whatever she pulls because it'll be a MAJOR slay and after this year she's invited to headline Coachella every year from now on
I wouldn't be surprised/nor be against the set she's done recently - starting with Jimmy Jimmy, etc with just some guest stars, and a couple of new tracks. Or just one from Lasso would be fab, with the single dropping on streaming on the same night. That would be a very cool way to launch a new single.

I thought that's where Fossora was going with Atopos, Ovule and title track as singles but then the rest of the album was so slow.I used to adore Bjork. I think Vespertine is one of the greatest albums of all time. Huge fan of Homegenic and some of the others too.
But everything she's put out after Biophilia, which was the last of her albums I listend to multiple times, is too avantguarde for me. She lost me. And that genuinely makes me sad.
Her music is just too depressing and strange for me now. And mind you - I'm not pining for pop songs. (Like, I said, I'm a Vespertine fan so slow is fine by me). But the music is just... Bizarre.

waan't this the look and feel of the last weyes blood album?
i feel like this new billy is looking very dark, and i like that. I feel like she's a goth girl at heart.
Happier than ever was too commercial for my taste both sonically and visually
clearly she's reverting to her former (cooler) self

I know the difference between being inspired and straight off copying someone, and I know that Billie has said that she's inspired by Lana a lot and has praised her. I also know that Lana seems to be fine about being a huge inspiration to Billie.
However, I feel like the Lana's influence on this new album is a little bit too heavy and is seemingly crossing into rip-off territory, unintentional or not. I definitely know what it feels like to be heavily inspired by someone or something, but this feels a little bit too much. The album title, song titles, and visuals are a bit too Lana-esque and it seems like Billie is almost copying her at this point IMO.
If Billie says that the album is heavily Lana inspired and is even a Lana tribute, then that's fine. But if she doesn't, I feel like that would be extremely wrong of her and that it would cause a lot of problems.
So yeah, that's all I wanna say. P.S, I'm an ex-stan who was obsessed with her music in like 2018-2019, so I know what her music sounds like and I could recognize Lana's influence.
TL;DR : I know the difference between inspiration vs copying, and Billie's new album seems so heavily inspired by Lana to the point where it enters rip-off territory and it seems like she's copying her, unintentional or not.
i said this from the first line of copy on the billboard she put up. It couldn't be more lana, the whole thing.
now, if she has lana on the album (at least) and they're clearly friends and fucking around in the studio. But to outright steal the lyricism or vibe from blue jeans or ultraviolence or whatever, isn't right

1 hour ago, SalvaWHORE said:I love Billie but how can yall think Lana & Billie will work? Its not going to WORK
Why wouldn't it? As long as they harmonize properly like Miley and Beyonce do on II Most Wanted. Billie can take the higher notes, Lana could take the lower, or vice-versa. They're both pretty alto.
Wasn't a fan of how Don't Call Me Angel sounded like the three of them were never even in the same room.
I reckon, if this collab happens, it'll either be a bop ala Bad Guy or NDA. Or it will be a massive ballad ala What Was I Made For or Ocean Eyes. Can't see anything in between.

Please god let this be true.
Billie is far more interesting as an artist than ariana, miley and taylor.
Just now, ts2003 said:Ngl, I’m kinda hoping for a post Malone collab. I know he’s like super overrated to a lot of people. But I think when his voice isn’t super auto tuned it’s sounds really nice and would pair well with Lana’s.
His leviis jeans with beyonce is fire imo. I think he'd fit well on lasso - especially if it's a lighter song -

Thanks. I'm really really done defending myself. I didn't even make the joke. I only remembered it. I deleted the comment. It's done. PC police, please go get a life. Thanks.

Okay, so PC police is in full swing over here. Comment deleted. Jesus..... It's a joke that probably even Lana herself would find funny.
People nowadays... They'll get offended and create drama over a joke. But genocides, legalized slavery, hyper capitalism, global warming etc. are of no interest to anyone. Puh-lease.

Come on... American Requiem, Blackbird, Protector, 16 Carriages, Texas Hold 'Em, II Most Wanted, Levii's Jeans, II Hands II Heaven, Ya Ya. Jolene... There are soo many songs that slap.
That said, I go back to Bodyguard the most too.

He still is. People think making a song like Blinding Lights is easy. Or the After Hours videos, which were flat-out masterpieces.
Just because he's mega popular, it doesn't mean he's not good or interesting. He's just packaging it better.

Umm.... Are you calling The Weekend flavorless? He's literally the most interesting pop artist among the male crowd.

You're most certainly not alone. It's a love or hate project. But most people seem to really, really like it. Myself included. Been listening all day every day pretty much.
On 4/2/2024 at 1:29 AM, Olympia said:I have been thinking a lot about if I like the lyrics change or not but I think it was a good move. I think Jolene is one of the saddest, most desparate songs ever written and no cover comes close to Dolly's version. By changing the lyrics, Beyonce really made it her own and suitable to her image as a self confident woman, so I think that approach is 100% justified. The song develops an own life by her rework.
100%. The lyrics make it a lot more believable in this day and age too.
It's a bold move, given what a classic it is, and that paid off big time.

42 minutes ago, Pink Flamingo said:Lana better bring Billie, Miley, Taylor, Migos, The Weeknd, Dolly to LASSO, we need some big names on it
I googled LASSO and it popped up country roads
Honestly, just one would do: Taylor, Miley or Dolly. Or The Weeknd. Like, fuck up the country with some r'n'b or trap featuring the Weekend.
But, with Lana, I feel like she'll probably bring like 7 artists in the Nicky Lane calibre lol.

She released a special festival edition of OB that's very rainbowish and, well, festival-ish. Check your emails.
So, that's news.

For me, TJF just sounds a bit more like her earlier work. It was a bit of a step back after NFR. I always adored that title tho.

49 minutes ago, Mer said:Eh tbh some interludes are less interesting than the little 13 Beaches intro, so I feel like she's flirted with the idea of incorporating vintage audio/old Hollywood film monologues into her work. I'm fine with them being part of the song and not a separate track that ruins my shuffle experience lol
Ahaha, true. Mostly, for me, I think it'd be something new for her. And I like how it works within the context of Frank Ocean, Beyonce, and others.
I'm not sure if it would be the right fit for Lasso though - especially since it might come across as copying Bey.
-
I love how the lead single has the second least votes out of all the cuts on this record.
Lana, you better choose your first Lasso single wisely!
