I agree, I dislike the second half of most of the "two tracks in one" nonsense. And it ruins the replay value of the song/half I actually liked :rip:

upon second listen, i do feel like splicing up these songs into woulda worked better. Not to mention we would have gotten 13 tracks instead of 10.

That being said, it's still my favorite album of hers. The deep voice on Blue is to die for. 8/10.

Cowboy Carter still wins AOTY for me, but this is a close second. Until Lasso comes and ends it all. 😏

I don't want to say the truth but this is better than any of Lana's albums.:lange:

    Say what? Sacrilege...

First of all, it's half the length of an average Lana record.

Secondly, Billie - as cool as her lyrics are - could only dream of Lana's turn of phrase.

Thirdly, go have a listen to NFR to remember what genius you're talkin' 'bout

I haven’t listened yet, but the album seems so short with 10 tracks?

that's my only major issue with it. I appreciate the selection of great tracks, but like... add some intermissions and reach a 50 mins' runtime, at least.

dua was even worse at 37 mins. Girl, that's not an album, that's an EP.

I think eternal sunshine is better than hmhas but it’s still great yeah

Respectfully disagree. Nothing on Eternal Sunshine comes even close to Chihiro. Finneas > Max Martin.

im seeing a lot of comments online about it being album of the year and i don’t know about all that…

its a great record but definitely not the best that’s come out this year but wouldn’t be surprised if the grammys were to give it to her

First listen in only, and it's as good as I was hoping it will be. Skinny, The Greatest, and most of all Chihiro are genius. Prefer it to Happier than Ever. A lot of growth in terms of songwriting too. The production slaps.

Is it better than Cowboy Carter in terms of AOTY? Don't think so. It's pretty short and kinda dips in quality around The Diner and Bittersuite. But, again, only first listen...

I don't really love the idea of a Country/Trap hybrid sound for an album - I hope it's just a one-off single with Quavo.

I'd love if she just did pure Country and left the Trap stuff out, or just do a full Trap/Trippy type of sound in the vein of Peppers and Taco Truck.

I appreciate all of the tracks on Tunnel but I think those two trappy songs at the end kind of took away from the overarching narrative of the album, or at least bloated it a bit. I want something completely cohesive this time around, not something chaotic like Lust For Life (which we love, but was all over the place).

And I know people are so eager for her, but I'm fine to wait a little bit longer until she starts the rollout for this one. Tunnel still feels so recent. She can honestly push this back to 2025 imo.

everything you just said is so wrong.

first, taco truck and peppers are a great character arc for Ob. She starts the album with gospel and purify yourself type shit, takes you on a journey (through the metaphorical tunnel), only to end up as the self-destructive, "fuck it" type of girl we know from before, complete with a reference to her birth town, Lake Placid. If that didn't make it clear, she reverts back to a literal version of her former self (venice bitch).

secondly, rarely anyone wants a boring-ass acoustic country album in 2024. Beyonce didn't want it with CC, which is why she featured a range of genres and, like, 4 straight-up rap songs.

Thirdly, lana adding trap or hip hop to lasso and potentially turning this into lfl v 2.0. is literally the  best thing that could ever happen on planet Earth, periodt.

and to anyone wanting a slow country record with acoustic guitars, i bet you all are the same

people who rank Chemtrails at the bottom. That album is basically acoustic folk, and none one ever even listens to it. The streaming numbers are pathetic.

Ask yourself if you really think that you'd love a country version of Chemtrails.

They def can edit a music video in a week, it depends on the production it has. For example, Chemtrails’ MV couldn’t be edited in a week bc the editing they chose couldn’t be done in a week since it wasn’t that simple, but if this MV is more on the simplistic side, it def can.

But I do agree, I think Quavo meant next month, a mid-June is a more realistic date (maybe early June, if Quavo has any say in it).

Chemtrails had animation/special effects, yeah, which takes a lot of time.

    But still - mid-June earliest.

  8. 7 minutes ago, Honeymoonwitch said:

Hmm maybe next means next week so they have time to edit the visuals… I’m sure Lana won’t release anything this week with Billie having a new album coming out.

No way can they edit the visuals in a week tho.

And like someone say she won't drop anything new amid Billie's new album rollout.

I reckon we'll get the trailer for Tough! ala Chemtrails trailer 3 weeks from now. And then the single + MV drop in a month or a little over (mid-June), whether the track is his or hers.

They said that Lana recorded back in February a 3 minute song with Quavo and that it might make it into the album (Lana's) .

Then they recently posted some lyrics and confirmed the title.

I feel like it's too much of a coincidence that the lyrics and visuals (so far) are giving Lasso to not be for Lana's record (unless she wants to have a cohesive era even with the collabs before the album)

Well, Feb makes sense as that when she was hanging with Quavo a lot. Clearly, she liked the track since she's doing an MV for it, so it has to be on Lasso.

Unless the insider is wrong. But let's trust them.

  10. 3 minutes ago, honey dew said:

If the insider said it might be on Lasso doesn't that mean that it was always Lana feat. Quavo AKA a Lana song? Why would she put someone else's song she's only featured on on her own album? Although I wouldnt put it past her now that I think about it

She'd never do that, periodt. Nobody's ever done that.

What did the insider say exactly when they were talking about Tough?

It’s about 3 minutes long according to the leakers. Also, it’s produced (co-produced?) by Cirkut. He’s not going to do that.

3 mins is perfect for a bop. Doin' time was about that length.

kinda wish it was bit longer (like WC, Ride, HBTB and her other big, lead singles), but a 3-min straight up bop - I''ll take it.

At this point, I don’t even know anymore if it’s for Lasso :stareney2:

last week, the snippet got me convinced it wasn’t. Now we’ve read the « country » ish lyrics so I thought it was for her album, but it’s still Quavo teasing it non-stop, but we got info from the Wally guy who worked with Lana :stareney2::stareney2:

The only thing I'm getting really worried about is if Tough! has a bifurcated structure like AW.

Imagine 4 mins of soft country and then a shift with Quavo rapping for 2 mins and lana's ad libs.🤦🏻‍♂️

that would infuriate me. Like, just release a straight-up bop, woman, damn it.

Just realised this collab is happening too. Not sure who this singer is but I love it it and that lil nas x cuts are ABYSMAL. So, no hopes for this song.

But I will give Camila the props for paying lana tribute with the title "PRETTY WHEN I CRY".

Music video in mid June / early July (+ Lasso preorder)

Promotional single in August, and full album in September

    :oprah:

Has she ever released a single weeks before an MV tho? Except with Doin' Time?

I'M SO EXCITED THOUGH SHE LOOKS SO PRETTY

It's a country rap song, it's gonna be anything but generic.. have some faith!

I can't believe I was manifesting an Old Town Road vibe with this album and now it's literally happening - ish.

I feel like this album will be her least remembered in 20 years time. But that's so unfair.

Gods & Monsters did really well though for a song off the second half of an EP.

To have the great Jessica Lange sing your song in a hit series by Ryan Murphy - that's major success. I know it has a large following too.

I agree with you on The greatest. It has had success, but it deserves a lot more. Hoping that "the greatest" on Billie's upcoming album is a cover of that song.
