Rio de Janeiro, Brazil @ MITA Festival - May 27th, 2023

Starting the show with Moulin Rouge's Nature Boy is pure genius. Love her to death. But, yeah, she was terribly nervous. It was obvious. I do appreciate more dancers, more elaborate staging, and the theatics of it all. Also love that only Arcadia made it from BB. Fuck that album! -
Here's the deal: people love Lana's love songs. Video Games, Young and Beautiful, Lust for Life, Born to Die, Shades of Cool... The list goes on and on. They lap her romantacised fatalism, which she built her brand on early on, like nobody's business. The reason (I think) why her recent singles haven't performed well is that their topics are completely not related to love. Chemtrails - being wild and free White Dress - the burdeon of fame Arcadia - the burdeon of fame Blue Banisters - getting over a man Ocean Boulevard - not being forotten AW - being promiscious etc. The more she started singing about herself and her own life, her siblings, her father, her fame, people kinda lost interest. The fact is - her real life just isn't as interesting as the swooping romance, heightened emotions and big orchestrations of her early stuff. So, I'll say Say Yes to Heaven is doing well because it's first and foremost a Lana Del Rey love song.

I agree with you. Actually, I adore the CN MV - it's one of my all-time favs. But she could have done AW for promotion and THEN CN. As for the music industry, it's very sad indeed. A music video ads an image to a song and helps people understand the music better. It has done wonders for Lana at the start. Songs aren't divided into sed and happy. AW is sexy and intriguing and neurotic and upbeat (in the latter part) and modern. I'm not saying she should only make videos for her happy songs. Rather, that she should avoid making them for her miserable songs. Even Let the Light in would probably have more views than CN.

New (bad) vocal mix on Don't Call Me Angel?
barttttender replied to barttttender's topic in Lana Thoughts
Jesus Christ. But why Lana's past? And why remaster a song that's been out for years?? Honestly, I can't believe her luck sometimes. Could this be Ariana's revenge for Lana's post about being judged when she does something slutty unlike Ari and co? Because it's a good gym track? Honestly, I don't like super slow music, and I always go back to Lana's more upbeat stuff. -
Very true. But still - it's quite bizarre that Say Yes to Heaven already has as many views as the Candy Necklace video with it's super pricey budget, glam image and well-received new album behind it. It just proves what I've been saying for weeks - that Candy Necklace was the absolute wrong choice for a single/video. If she'd spent as much money on a sexy AW video, we would have had 30 millions by now, at least. She needs to get it into her head that people only watch videos that make them feel good - making a video for sad songs ( Arcadia, White Dress, Candy Necklace, Blue Banisters) - is a complete and utter waste of money.

Hi. I was listening to DCMA on iTunes and noticed Lana's vocals are a lot worse than before. The mixing on her section is weird now and her vocal delivery a bit breathy and not as smooth as before. She seems to run out of breath on "county line." It's almost like a lessor take was put in the place of the original one. I immediately compared it to the video version and the difference is definitely there. The video version has more backing vocals and harmonies. It almost like someone re-edited the song to make Lana sound like a lessor singer. Can someone please check? Or am I tripping?

Because people have ADHD and their IQ is mega low. So you hear this sped up 1 minute song and you get a shot of dopamine to your little chicken brain. That's why "pop" nowadays is basically 3 or less minutes of hooks. Also explains why Lana with her dreamy 5 minutes ballads hasn't had a hit since Doin' Time. If she started releasing sped up versions of everything and added some drums, she'd probably be number 1. That's where we're at..... Interscope probably asked her to remove the bridge for the sake of brevity. "Market research shows that 3 minute songs do best yadda yadda yadda"

honestly, i think they just wanted to boost lana's streaming number. most songs off OB haven't exactly broken iTunes streaming wise, they're kinda low.m candy necklace isn't doing much either i wish she waited a bit with this - it's coming across as a tad desparate. But it's a good song, so whatever
