  1. Brentwood Market Boy Tears Lost Girl Elvis & Marilyn Be My Man I Like The Dark Side I Wanna Die Candle In The Wind Santa Monica Love Letter Cocaine I Want A Boyfriend Wild And Free Hot Like Fire Summer Dress Running With The Wolves (By the way, how funny to read the beginning of this thread eight years later)
  2. I wonder if Kill Bill has a special meaning for Lana. Not only the similarity of the name of the song 'Kill Kill', but on Vol. 1 we also find Nancy Sinatra (Bang Bang) and the song 'Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood' she covered later, plus on Vol. 2 this song and her favorite Ennio Morricone.

    Madonna

I'm surprised how closely she sounds like Lizzy/Lana in some of her songs:
  4. I think she wanted to look traditional like a country girl. I have also the first video snippet with the cowboy in my mind. It's not a country album, but the music also seems to be very traditionally oriented: piano ballads, mainly vocals, some guitar, trumpets and strings, not much beats. It's a rejection of modern music as currently found in the charts, an escape into the past.
  5. I still have the picture with the vespa posted by Father John Misty in my mind. The album could be set somewhere in the 1950s/1960s. The glorification of the American past. Some unreleased songs like 1949, Hollywood or JDK could fit in well. We know she's still interested in Marilyn and the era (ASC album).
  6. As long as Lana doesn't post weekly car selfies, the era hasn't started yet.
  7. You'll Never Walk Alone The first time I listened I was put off by her high voice, but now I think her singing is top notch. The choir singing in the second half is a good addition, altogether the song is a masterpiece.
  8. thanks for the reminder, i will be very watchful today
  9. After some good rankings Chemtrails climbed up to 25 in the year end list aggregate: https://www.albumoftheyear.org/list/summary/2021/ It's not so bad, not far behind Billie and Adele and way ahead of Lorde and Taylor or others.
  10. If she doesn't release it so soon, it could probably get really really good. I kind of have a feeling that this album is going to blow us away when it comes out.

  12. the same with BB and the 'blue Lana' pic
  13. Now I finally understand why she publishes poetry books. She has too many ideas that she can't put them all into songs. Maybe many of the poems in "Violet Bent Backwards Over the Grass" were meant to be songs, like LA Who Am I (to Love You) That's why we have also so many unreleased songs. And now again, a lot of great scrapped songs that we don't know yet. She's so super creative!
  14. Proposed release schedule for 2022: March: Violets For Roses (springtime) May: Beautiful (it's warm and beautiful outside) August: Thunder (time of summer storms) November: first single of LDR9 LDR9 release then early 2023
  15. She started the song with Let's keep it simple, babe, don't make it complicated - think about it. Nothing is more difficult than writing a simple song like this, which also manages to touch so emotionally (at least for some of us).
  16. So it makes sense for her to work with Jack again (I remember that she posted a photo of him some days ago), the bombastic songs need to be released!

  18. The lyrics of the song are pretty ordinary, but I suspect that there is a certain intention behind it. Just as she presents herself in the video as an innocent country girl. Behind it is probably the desire for a simple, uncomplicated life, like many people have living in the city.
  19. If the critics were paid, then Lana had spent a lot of money in 2019: https://www.albumoftheyear.org/list/summary/2019/ But I think there's also a kind of bias in the critic's world, so if one influential critic hypes something, everyone else likes it. Maybe she was just lucky to be on the right wave (or she missed the wave with other albums).
  20. NFR is by far her greatest artistic achievement (from a critic's point of view), a real stroke of genius.
