I am hoping that she does a BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge. She was meant to do one last year but then she got ill or something. Pessimistic part of me thinks it's less likely that Lana will do a Live Lounge now as Fearne Cotton has left the station. -

Because "She is an icon! Her art is so above everyone else that she doesn't need to promote it." Or, "We don't want her to become mainstream because people who listen to Top40 shit will listen to her and devalue my own listening experience" Or, "We don't want her to literally whore herself out by going on television. I mean, only manufactured shit do televised performances, right?" Or, "She said she releases music for herself and doesn't want other people to listen to it! She doesn't want fame! Fame is for disgusting mainstream pop artists like Beyonce and Rihanna!" -

it is possible, but it's hardly a good scenario for her or for fans. She won't be able to easily access an orchestra or other producers. Without the support of a label, Lana won't be able to do promo even if she wanted to. Losing her label/ not having a record label would probably kill her career and her relevance. What do *you* think it means to be an artist? -

Lana is mainstream, yes. "Sadcore" is just a sub-genre of music. For example, you can have a mainstream rap artist. The genre of music they perform and create is rap, but they are mainstream (chart success, widely known, played on radio, big record-label, etc). -

I've played West Coast and Shades of Cool to friends and family and many loved it. I don't think she needed a viral hit, she just needed to actually let people know that she had new music. I don't agree that doing a few television performances is "whoring out". -

Interscope won't put up with her antics indefinitely unfortunately. They won't back her career forever if she doesn't put effort into promo. Paradise and UV were nowhere as successful as Born To Die. If her label ditches her, that's very bad news. Lana has true talent for songwriting but does need a team of producers and some co-writers. Without the continued support of her label, she can't continue releasing good music. -

pasted from the Unpopular Lana Opinions thread: A lot of people seem to believe that Lana is as famous/iconic as people like Sinatra and Bob Dylan and that she doesn't need to do promo because "she doesn't need hits and only writes for herself". I've seen lots of people say that they were happy Lana didn't do any TV appearances because she isn't a "commercial artist". Whilst it is important that Lana stays true to herself, good promo is so important in this day and age. I don't understand why some fans seemingly don't want her to gain wider recognition and greater success - which can only be done if you actually try to do promo. Sales, whether you like it or not, are important and Lana needs to do proper promo and proper music videos in order to maintain interest. Lots of people I know didn't even know she released Ultraviolence, and just remember her as that weird anti-feminist woman who sang like shit on SNL and had a remix. In order to stay relevant, she needs to promote her music. Promoting her music properly isn't "selling out" or being 'commercialised". I think UV promo was lazy and simply not good enough. Many say that she only needs her fans, but if you release an album without live TV performances, do interviews where you make quasi-suicidal and controversial comments and seem distant and passive-aggressive, fail to promote the critically acclaimed lead single and release a few average music videos - you begin to lose fans. Honeymoon is such an important album for Lana's career. If she fails to promote this album, she may begin to lose her relevance and appeal. -

I remember physically cringing when I saw "nighshade" and "passion". What an unmitigated fuck-up.

Call me pessimistic, but I'm not too sure Lana will properly promote Honeymoon or do lots of live performances on TV or radio seeing she's effectively barred journalists from the Endless Summer Tour... -
Worst and Best song from Ultraviolence
theeternalstars replied to NickDelRey's topic in Lana Thoughts
I find it interesting that initially I liked Old Money the most because it offered familiarity in terms of instrumental/style but as I have grown to adore the other songs, it doesn't seem to fit anymore and I find it sort of boring to listen to now. :/ -

I don't dislike it, I just don't think it is quite the quality of the other tracks. The melody is uninteresting and the lyrics are cringeworthy and repetitive. (this is just my opinion pls don't kill me) -

Lana's management have been really really careful now in terms of leaks since the massive leaks back in 2012. I think Ultraviolence was leaked only a couple days in advance. Edit: Ultraviolence was leaked on 8th June. Release date was 13th June. -

Best: Shades of Cool, West Coast, Pretty When You Cry Worst: Old Money (sorry), Guns and Roses, Cruel World -
Yeah! The only thing shes doing at the moment is this song for the great gatsby film or something. Bet they paid her loads. She might as well then release a Cedric Geravas remix of THAT as well lmao

Serial Killer doesn't really need to be reworked IMO. The production is pretty much perfect already. -

I've taken a break from Twitter because I've noticed especially recently a whole load of silliness, nastiness, squabbling and fights amongst Lana fans and Lana news accounts (Cole Stroud allegations, LDReyGlobal drama, Serial Killer bullshit, MusicBizSpy bullshit, etc). I have no patience for these massive news accounts tweeting things like "Serial Killer WILL be on Honeymoon" or "Lana Del Rey WILL be releasing Regina Sunset" for attention. I have no patience for seeing Lana news accounts fighting and blocking each other. It's gotten especially bad in the past few weeks. :'( -

"@LDReyHoneymoon and @TrueLanaNews go a bit further and ask if you know what does Lana do in the video and if she *dances with her red dress in the pale moonlight?*" they included my sarcastic joke question im crying -
I don't like Gods and Monsters. The start is so good, but then it just gets so messy and completely loses its structure and melody. The lyrics don't work from "I'm living like Jim Morrison" onwards. I don't relate to them, and the lyrics don't resonate at all. I like the melody of American, but the lyrics are too cringeworthy (spin me around like a child + hell yeah that guy can sing, etc) for me to enjoy the song as a whole. I don't hate Guns and Roses, it's just that I'm completely apathetic to that song. It's monotone and boring and doesn't make me feel anything. I don't like pretty much the whole of Sirens for the same reason, though AKA is a nice record. On AKA, I dislike Mermaid Motel (horrible production), Brite Lites (just weird and unlistenable), and For K Pt.2 (zzz). That's about it.

I will be upset if Honeymoon turns out to be Paradise 2.0. It's strange that when UV came out I found it really difficult to "accept" in terms of style and production, but now I massively prefer UV production to Paradise production for some reason. Paradise isn't the exciting "hip-hop"of BTD, nor the organic "rock" of UV. I find it quite tepid and synthetic now. :/ Rambling aside, I hope she gets the production of HM right. I don't think UV would have been as acclaimed if the production was different.
