Mmm.....I wonder if the "no leaks" may be more of the fact that all of the avenues people would usually get them from are being slowly choked out or if there's a "chilling" of the leak culture/leak market. I've noticed over the last year that a lot of the artists I follow have had a....drought, so to speak.....on leaking of older/unreleased material, and on snips of upcoming stuff. It's possible I've moved too far from the pulse of it, but from my perspective, a lot of online forms (LB here as an example) have cracked down hard on not posting confirmed upcoming material. Reddit boards also have adopted the same hardline policies. Looking at the official XCX discord, it's the same there - any leaked material (and if I interpret the rules a certain way, even old unreleased material) is not to be discussed. From what I understand quite a few discord servers where leaked stuff would get posted and traded have been nuked or gone under (and there was a TOS change in Discord that called out they won't tolerate hosting or sharing material that was pirated, stolen, illicit, etc.) This is a dark thought, but technology exists (I know it's used on JustForFans, an OnlyFans competitor just for XXX stuff) where a video will have an invisible watermark embedded in it, linked to the account of the person who is streaming/viewing it. If someone was to download or screen record that video, and share it out on the internet, it would be able to be traced back to the account of the person who did it, and would make prosecution easy (allegedly). It's not something you can remove from transcoding the video either and it is extremely hard to detect and remove (again, allegedly). iTunes does something similar with their DRM but to a lesser degree, where the account of the person who purchased the music from the iTunes store is embedded in the file tags, but IIRC you can encode the file to something else and that data goes away. I wonder if something like that will eventually get worked into mainline audio content distribution, or even in exports of sessions that get traded between artists and producers and such, so that if someone was to leak something, there would be a clearer and easier to establish line of "who did it?". That alone would definitely choke leaks down further.

Okay so SWEAT Chicago was fucking LIT and I'm going to gush and y'all gonna deal. Shygirl starting off RIGHT and early with Thicc sent me to the moon because a) it's one of my fave songs by her and b) I had tickets to see her but I had to miss, so her opening for the show was the mini-concert I needed. My friends who were there and who had never heard of her were like "this bitch was GREAT wtf?? she got the crowd energized and set the stage perfectly." I was SO happy with her set/song choices. I do wish she'd have come down the stage/ramp and into the pit area more though, or that production would have let her (I could see them telling her not to/keeping the area cleared for Troye/Charli). I have to take back a lot of my nonchalant disregard for Troye - I found his performance really entertaining and his energy was honestly great the whole night. He came in, he did a good job of hyping the crowd, he worked the stage, I thought the song order/setlist flowed really well throughout most of the concert, and it felt like most of the crowd was really into it. The choreo/background dancers didn't really detract from anything - I really liked it/him overall. And as for Queen Charlotte.... Holy shit. I am so glad I wore some hearing protection, because when that banner went up in preparation for her to take the stage, the fucking crowd went NUTS. The screaming from the curtain drop HAD to have registered on an earthquake meter somewhere, because good lord was that a sonic boom from the arena. The crowd was inSANELY hyped, the WHOLE TIME she was on. The energy in the room was just insane to me. Everyone was jumping, everyone was dancing. Hearing people poo-poo on "I Love It" being in the setlist - idk theydies, the whole area was fucking thrashing when it was on from where I was standing. Absolutely transcendental. My only regret, to be openly honest, was that I gimped my own experience. I had my phone out like 80% of the time, and I was so focused on "not missing it" with the camera, that I ended up missing SO MUCH of the overall experience because I had one eye on the phone screen instead of both eyes on the stage. I left with self-induced fomo over it. Going forward, I'm going to be more conscious of it and NOT wanting to record/photograph everything when I go to concerts. So, so, so many people in the pit had their phones up just as much as I did as well, and I wonder if anyone else left feeling like I did too. I understand better the artists who ban phones at their concerts now; there really is something magical about being truly and fully 'present' in the moment. That being said - I did manage to get some (imo) really good photos. I'll probably post a few once I get done processing them. Actually my second regret is that I fucking ran to piss because I couldn't hold it anymore and while the urinal was sucking it all down I hear what I assume was Spring Breakers. I wanted to slit my wrists right there but oh well.... I was front row next to the pit. I didn't get pit/GA because at the time I thought I was going to take my boyfriend with me when I bought the tickets, and he's not a fan of squished in crowds and needs some "dedicated" space. But after I locked in my tickets I ended up switching things up and taking a friend of mine instead. Friend is a HUGE Troye Sivan fan, and since my friend had just gotten his clean bill of health for beating cancer just a few months ago, I wanted to give him my second ticket as a "congrats on beating cancer!" gift. My friends who moved to Chicago a few months ago housed us, so I told him all he needed to do was secure the plane tickets there and everything else is covered - concert, place to stay, even the food (Jesus Christ I melted a credit card on the food and restaurants and bars while I was there....) When I led him to our seats he fucking lost it - I forgot to tell him we weren't up in the nosebleeds with our friends - I thought he was going to piss himself from excitement/shock. Had the timing of things gone differently and I knew I wanted to bring him from the jump, my ass would've picked pit and lined up hours early, no cap.

Listening to this Sweat Tour playlist on Spotify to gaslight myself into familiarity with Troye so I can be a good and not at all rude attendee. (Also any1 else gonna be at the Chicago show on Monday? )

Fr. Covid and the WFH era it ushered in (for me, anyway) has given me the biggest boon to my health. Prior, like every other month I'd be sick from crap I kept catching from coworkers. Idk how some people work day jobs surrounded by the GP all the time, out like 5 nights a week, going to packed bars and restaurants, going out to clubs, sharing the joint with randos when having a smoke - and never seem to get sick. Mystifying.

Yeah NGL my scathing criticisms of another artist with a lot of variants is starting to come in here. I get a limited variant of the OG album here or there, but at the end of the day, it's the same album in different colors. A few of them had a bonus 7" included. Okay. Then we go and do a deluxe, with just three extra tracks. Okay, it happens, cool. Artists release deluxes and whatnot later. But now we have this, and it's the OG + the deluxe + the remix all in one, so like, now you didn't really need the deluxe or the OG, you just need this one to have the whole package. But now for folks of the OG/Deluxe - you'd need to get this to have the remixes if you wanted it, and since everything before it is already there.... See where I'm headed with this?

Now the real question is will this be annoyingly packaged where you have to tear off the fucking cardboard or not? This but also may all the angels of merit and worth get their copies first.

Just my 2 pennies - In the discourse - all the comments are coming from a Charli centric perspective here on the setlist. Like it's a Charli tour and there's just a random Troye along for the ride. But like - it's a joint tour. Chances are - the setlist was curated with an eye towards what Troye fans might be receptive to or wanna hear as well, and vice versa. I hate Boys, but if the streams show it's up there in positive general reception (and by the count of basic over emotional single softboy f-slurs in my friend circle who lost their collective shit when that song came out for some reason...it's absolutely well recieved), and some market research shows the song will fly well with the overlap of Troye fans - then it's in the setlist. I'm sure there's some vice-versa going on in there too. Charli's got a huge discography - nothing any of us can deny, but lets be real - for the concept of a joint tour - what gets played is going to be from a recent album + what is "accessible" and known in the context of the second artist, and lets be honest here - some of the "fan faves" are NOT exactly GP accessible tracks.

Okay so idk what Next Bitch is, but for me, it clears whatever the fuck Candyland was alone. The single art serves what I'd expect from Brooke as well (Candyland cover is nightmare fuel) I'm excited for more.
