when i look back, tracing fingertips over plastic bags, i think i wish i could extrapolate some small intention, or maybe get your attention for a minute or two. i just love how melodic this is – the consonance of “t” and “s” in “tracing fingertips over plastic”, the repetition of “i” in “i think i wish i could”, the alliteration in “some small”, the rhyme in “intention” and “attention”, the slant rhyme in “back” and “bags”. it’s a beautiful sentence to read out loud and highlights lana’s natural sense of poeticism.
