First time back here since DYKTTATUOB dropped. Soz I’ve been in the tunnel listening this whole time. why is everyone fighting 😭 who wants to give me a rundown of what we know about the next one? Do we know anything? I hope Jack is doing it, don’t @ me. My biggest hope is that she continues going down this weird and alternative route of A&W (ok I love the second half but the first half is easily in her top 5 songs of all time) and stunning wordy epics like fingertips. My only slight criticism of the last album (which I consider her best) is that it felt a little fractured with the different genres, and I’d have loved if there was something that tied the Peppers and the Sweet’s together a bit more. I have faith she’s going to continue to improve and don’t ultimately care what direction she takes her next project because I’ll rearrange my personality / taste to like it, idfc, she’s worth it xx

oh its rob promo if only rob played piano on some of the Ocean Blvd tracks, we'd have the deluxe promo edition with 64 cover variants and visual album directed by Gaspar Noé by now

ok what's going on with the insta story. is this the music video???

I mean we all hate fishtail lol The real surprise for me is him liking Margaret so much it 'tore him apart emotionally'... really didn't see that one coming. im sooooo curious to see what she's going to do next; is she going to build on Ocean Blvd and get that 10? is she going in a totally new direction (the closer on this album makes me think she could, although ive never really bought into the idea that her closer tracks are a peak into her next era) and how long until that work is released? Im already so impatient omg

fingertips is now my favourite track on the album. it took me two weeks to find my way into it but when it clicked, it fucking clicked. the melody of "exotic places and people" has been spinning in my head for five days. I can't help but imagine if the vocals were recorded with quality mics and there was a little more instrumentation, maybe hints of ocean sounds when she talks about the waves/drowning herself etc. but overall its an incredible track. really goes to show sometimes you just have to sit with art before forming an opinion and your first impression (while important) isn't always correct. I know people see it as a stream-of-consciousness poem that she put music to, but to me it feels like an opera. Like imagine an opera singer on stage singing it with classical strings, on a stage like this:

current things im obsessing over in this album: - her voice on the line: " I'll give you a blanket, Your spirit can sit and watch TV by my side" in fingertips - her lockjaw-vocal styling in candy necklace on the word "feelin super suicidal" and on Ocean Blvd "only silver mirrors running down the corridor". she sounds so numb and medicated, giving bell jar - the reverby low end piano on the second "rockafella" line in candy necklace (2:24) and that strained string wailing in the background - "I can be violent tooOOooOOoo (UGH)" moaning sound effect in the background of taco truck, at 1:01 thank you for coming to my ted talk

I wish she just censored it in the same way she censored for (Amy) and for (Whitney) in get free, and "...got a (cop) who turned..." in A&W. I like that being a little motif in her music, that she just blacks out certain words that are too sensitive, like a redacted document. the starry sparkle vibe over fingertips is too distracting

ok but has anyone noticed that in let the light in, she says: "let the light in, at your backdoor yelling 'cause I wanna come in" so she's saying she's outside his house, wanting to come in, which means the "light" in this metaphor is her. and then she says "turn your light on" queen of singing about wanting her man to turn her on

hmm I guess but Ocean Blvd ends with a similar little glitch sound and then goes into sweet - I kinda think its cool. to me it sounds like she's listening to Judah on the radio, and the white noise/static gets louder until she turns it off (hence the little glitch sound) and falls onto the sofa, feeling suicidal when the haunting piano comes in. clearly I have a problem with justifying her poor artistic choices lol

I think he's harsh but ultimately pretty fair with her. he recognises her talent but has less tolerance for the imperfections than we (her fans) have. Like I hear her sing a verse off key and im like "ItS oN puRpoSe" whereas he just says its sloppy. I always value his opinion and think he WANTS to like lana, and he's been really into the three singles so far. I totally disagree with his opinions of her earlier music though... yes I KNOWWWWW im opening myself up to the lanaboards firing squad for not condemning him but I can have an opinion right?
