  1. one of these days we should organise a listening party where we all press play on track 1 at the same time
  2. the beat sounds more and more like a heartbeat with each listen. originally the lyric "only silver mirrors running down the corridor" bugged me because she does that thing with her vocals where it sounds like her jaw is locked and she's not enunciating... but now that vocal styling has so much emotion for me, it sounds like someone who is numb and in so much pain they can hardly speak. I simply adore this track
  3. for anyone who feels the album ventures in too many different directions/genres/styles: listen to it from start to finish without skips. its incredibly cohesive considering the directions it takes
  4. apparently brown face refers to cultural appropriation (if you click the word it takes you to an article they've written) honestly who the fuck cares, they can continue to pander to militant-woke-twitter while lana and the rest of us get reckless and dance like the young and restless. lana clearly doesn't care, so why should we
  5. Wow this line from the Pitchfork review really rings true: An interesting way to make sense of the many imperfections throughout (whether intentional or otherwise.) ...That's how the light gets in
  6. my last post in this thread is my ranking....... soooo: 1. A&W 2. Peppers 3. Candy Necklace 4. Did you know... 5. The Grants 6. Let The Light In 7. Sweet 8. Fingertips 9. Taco Truck 10. Grandfather 11. Kintsugi 12. Judah Smith Interlude 13. Jon Batiste Interlude 14. Paris Texas 15. Margaret 16. Fishtail
  7. the one thing ive learnt from this pre release cycle is that it really pays to wait for the album release. I think this would have been an incredible experience to listen from beginning to end in one go, but I really ruined it with Rosemead exclusive baby's. I dont think id have the strength to not even listen to the singles but damn, imagine hearing Ocean Blvd, A&W, candy necklace, fingertips and peppers all in the same sitting.
  8. ok but how great is it to be officially DONE with that dirty disgusting leak site and Rosemead exclusive baby, like I hope you enjoyed your 15 minutes (15 months) of fame because you have literally nothing we want now. Also BYE bozo have fun in jail
  9. Listening to Fingertips and (aside from the shock of ‘mother’ being censored) I just can’t handle the hiss that abruptly starts / stops before and after each line of vocals. Could they at least fade in and out the background hiss so it’s not so obvious!? And why is there crackle all over the track in my speakers? lana, I fucking love you, but you need to fire whoever is responsible for this stuff because they’re doing a terrible job
  10. To those who have attended these listening events in the past; what's the vibe? Like if I go on my own is it awkward? Is it like a bar vibe/social thing? Are people talking over the music? Would my introverted self hate it?
  11. I've been listening to the album on repeat for several days now and have so much to say, but will save it for another day. One thing I'll quickly mention is that she seems to have wholeheartedly embraced imperfection as an artistic device, whether it's the occasional off-pitch vocal or off-beat rhythm, and I find this very intruiging. She echoed this sentiment when talking about the intro to The Grants - that the imperfection was symbolic and she knew it had to be left in to the beginning of the album. Furthermore in the age of AI art, imperfection is what will seperate Lana from the inevitable Lana song-generator-bot of the future. There's a fine line between highlighting the mistakes in an artwork so that it can take on more meaning, and just being lazy and not striving for excellence, and she is certainly in the former category.
  12. I’m not gonna listen to candy necklace until release day so I still have something to look forward to, but can anyone tell me, is the whole track a piano track like the snippet she posted on Instagram? And how does it work being wedged between the two interludes (in terms of the genre/pacing/instrumental)
  13. I want her to go in the direction of peppers and the first half of taco truck... I really do. but we know this bitch is working on a 20 minute melodic diary featuring low quality iPhone vocals singing poetry to the beat of her car's blinker.
  14. ive spent so much time in this thread over the past month I actually need to rebuild my life
  15. I think the issue here is that this album is soooo wordy and diaristic that songs like Fingertips and Kintsugi completely fall apart if you can't understand what she's saying, because most of the meaning is found in the words. Honestly sometimes I wonder if I just have bad hearing though because I watch reaction videos and half of them seem to understand everything she's saying while I'm hitting replay/searching this board for lyrics like a crazy person
