Personally this to me is, exactly what was to be expected. Its a high budget katy perry song through and through. People in this thread saying “i miss the old katy” baby shes right there lmao. This song fits perfectly in the same album as TGIF / Last Friday Night. To me Katy was the epitome of glossy campy cheesy pop with blaring catchy choruses and over the top visuals / videos. And this is exactly that. edit: Trisha carried the mv btw.

I'm not holding my breath for this album to turn out to be decent... Its very clear to me this album is more about appearances, bringing the "old Katy back" and restoring her brand / cultural image as a sexy pop girl. Theyve definitely spent a ton of time, budget, etc. planning out the era with high polish visuals and social media stunts to get people talking about her again. Whats so ironic though is the Dr. Luke thing has really backfired on her in a way that most of the mainstream artists that work with him seem to usually get away with. It doesn't look like its something she will be able to escape and is really hurting her rollout at least in the circles I follow. I dont think it would have been nearly as bad if Kesha hadnt also just released her comeback single revolving entirely around being free from Dr. Luke... Only time will tell I guess if this will turn out to be another JLo flop hate train situation or if Katy can survive it but a really great hit single would definitely distract the general public at least from the controversy.

She has talked about s4 having religious theming and "Jesus in Miami" seems like it would go on s4, not a mixtape redo. Only time will tell I guess what S4 ends up like. Saw her at a Pride and she said it was her first time being the headliner of a festival it was such a cool moment. I bought the tickets months before because Slayyyter was announced to also be there and I was like "oh, I dont know these other people but I've seen Chappell Roan's name before, I'll look up her music before Pride so I know some songs" then she EXPLODED into a sensation in the meantime and it was so exciting to see her live at that point.

why else would they put kesha's name on the brat truck? like there is genuinely no reason why that would ever happen on charli's part unless kesha was involved. If anything this confirms that the remix album is waiting for kesha's comeback release on july 4th before dropping. And I do hope that the brat attention helps kesha's comeback because she certainly deserves it more than Katy.

lol chill babe. i cant stand taylor as much as the next... person who actually listens to other music artists, lmao. Charli has literally specifically, intentionally hinted at the song involving Taylor already. No it isn't as direct or completely about her like as Girl, so confusing, but it isn't non existent. I cant imagine it sounding any worse than the yung lean and robyn remix of 360. Like lets chill out defending the "art" here. Do I think it would ever happen? No, I highly doubt it. But it would definitely be a monolithic moment for the album for better and worse to watch go down and tbh just seeing this initial reaction being so negative makes me hope it happens more at this point just to piss yall off. That in itself is very "brat".

sympathy is a knife ft taylor seems so alternate dimension, the fact that there are hints towards it not being a 0% chance is kind of crazy. i cant even imagine what taylor would sound like on that song. she certainly wouldnt be able to match charli's energy in the song vocally. she'd almost have to do spoken word background vocals like some kind of haunting presence on the track. wait that could be cool actually...

Its undeniable objectively that it deserves some sort of nomination. These award shows are so moneyhungry though and all about connections and label bribery.... which sucks. As much as I respect Billie's individuality and artistry it annoys me how she just sweeps award season constantly. On top of that we have Beyonce and Jay Z publicly pushing them about her "deserving" an AOTY, the possibility of Ariana's label pushing for her to win while focus is still on Wicked and a possible upcoming sequel album / deluxe, and Taylor just.... being Taylor. Plus depending on how LG7 releases, Gaga could also be in the equation...
