"I'm a pop-blues singer." - Dum Dum
I think I label it "Indie Pop" because that seems the most encompassing.

Really interesting, and such a good way to get to know you! Loved your shuffle and explanation on finding Lana. Good interview, Maru, makes me excited for the continuation of Member of the Week.

Before I ever listened to her, one review I read described her as a Cat Power-type. Cat Power's a little rougher, less glamorous, but both have husky voices and sad tunes. Like to pair them in playlists, with songs like "Get Drunk".

(^ I have to be in a really specific mood to listen to that song without wanting to drain my wrists, so beware if you're listening to these. It's honestly one of my favorite songs ever, though. I figure I'll either have it playing at my wedding or my funeral.)

Maybe you've heard her cover of "Sea of Love":

The Con is so nearly flawless it's almost unbelievable. I'm not sure if it's one of those things where you're not supposed to like their most popular album, but it's really good for whatever mood. Discovered it's actually really great for getting the creative juices going, whereas any other music just distracts me or bores me.
Gosh, they look so young and emo in that video! Delightful

HAHAHA! Your always my number one baby.

GUYS! I was actually one of her winners for the liquorice contest where you had to submit a video somehow responding to liquorice (either remixing it, making a fan video, covering it, etc). So, I wrote my own version, which i'd love for you guys to check out!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5ZQUeA-SxA
She picked me as one of 25 winners world wide for the contest! I'm SUCH a huge fan of hers and it's such an honor to be noticed by her for my own work!
Hope you guys like it.
It will be on my mixtape titled "HOOLIGAN HOUSE" coming this Halloween.
Hallelujah, consider my calendar marked!
(I've already praised you about this

Have you all figured out what you actually do?
The forum is young and you can't see the mod section, step back, Monickah.

Are we able to add emoticons as mods yet?
I can't wait.
No but that will be the biggest perk of the job if we can :haha:

Do you think that this song was written specifically for Jaguar, or that she just so happened to write the song beforehand, thought it was a perfect fit, and tweaked a few bits?
I'm inclined to believe the former, but you never know with Lana.
Although I believe it's personal, it seems to be intended just for the campaign, so perhaps she added the car lines?
From the Jaguar website:
"The car was revealed in front of the dramatic setting of the 18th century Musée Rodin. Following the reveal, singer Lana Del Rey took to the stage and performed a new track ‘Burning Desire’, that she has written as part of her collaboration with Jaguar for the launch of the F-TYPE. The track is confirmed to be the sound track to a short film that is being produced in association with Ridley Scott Associates and will be featured on her new album."
Wow! Ridley Scott directing a small movie with Burning Desire soundtrack, can't get any better, wow!
Adding to the OP, that's awesome! Wonder when we'll get that.

My suspicions were correct--this is the perfect live song for her.

Oh, we should have more of these...
Not to encourage leaks, but I think it's interesting to know what's at the top of anyone's Lana wishlist. Let's face it, we all have something, even if we're opposed!
Something not many people know about you?
What comes after Lana Del Rey in your music library?
Gosh, I'm just asking more Lana questions, aren't I...? I'll think of more, when does the poll close?

Already thirsting for a stripped-down Bel Air demo
It's true that all the biggest changes happened on the more upbeat songs (NA, DMD, Lolita), which we don't have here unless Cola or American is similar in style to Off to the Races (beginning doesn't exactly hint at what to expect in the chorus).
