  1. Lana Del Rey, Queen of Science Fiction. When will your fav
  2. omg just realized how the journey ends "Freedom to live. Freedom to live means freedom from negative emotions which pull the hero away from living in the moment. Negative emotions such frustration, sadness, shame, fear, depression, doubt and despair are banished and instead he is able to celebrate the victory" She Gets Free. That's where the title came from.
  3. omg I have three exams monday I should be studying but hol up Alright, if you're a genuinely nerdy piece of shit like me, you would recognize how much the instrumental of Get Free sounds like a cheesy scifi serial of the 1970s. It's #iconic I mean, Lana has said straight up in interviews that she was inspired by vintage scifi in this era, like the original Blade Runner and the Twilight Zone. But how far, Lana How much of you is vintage scifi, Lana?
  4. So I realized the nerdiest shit ever here we go in Get Free, when Lana sings "I'm crossing the threshold from the ordinary world to the reveal of my heart", she's literally referring to the character arch of a heroic character in literature/fantasy as written by joseph campbell Joseph Campbell was one of the forefathers and most influential writers during the Golden Age of Science Fiction, working with authors such as Isaac Asimov and Robert Heinlein as chief editor of Astounding Science Fiction magazine. Which leads to a very nerdy proposition as to how Lana really got her name Yeah, that's right. Only the biggest science fiction publication company of the 20th century.
  5. this entire era has been an analogy to The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire this entire time. when will your fav
  6. One thing I don't love about Lana and this era... her glorification of Hollywood. Hollywood is disgusting. Women are forced to be underweight, people in power abuse it, no one cares about those below them socially or economically, everything is fake. But she portrays this decay in her songs, too. I honestly think this era is sort of using Hollywood and LA as a microcosm for America at the moment. She sees great things in it, and that great things have come out of it, but there is a lot of injustice and darkness and she wants to try to make things right herself.

    ALLIE X

Just wanted to pop in here and note that I'm loving how happy and glowing she looks lately. She seems more like herself and less trying to pass off a persona. Which, you know, the X thing was cool, but it was uncomfortable. Part of finding yourself (and thus "X" in Allie's own words) is taking yourself as you are... and making of that what you will. And she's found a good synthesis between her darkness and the allowance of her own happiness. https://www.instagram.com/p/Bcbwfvyl0RK/?taken-by=alliex these pictures show it all. She's carefree, but still sleek and cool.

I Love the Garbage is literally about Allie's borderline sexualized sugar/junk food addiction Fruit or stevia arent a good enough substitute for pure sugar. Krispy Kreme. The words she can't pronounce are the chemical names on the label. "You weigh my body down" referring to the way unhealthy food makes her lethargic. She's a hungry animal and she loves the garbage. She needs some milk

I hate the ohohohh part after the chorus but literally every time I hear it I think of a flamboyant gay scifi supervillain strutting across his giant spaceship detailing his evil plans while his minions hip thrust into the air and throw glitter at him Okay that's all. That's my creative vision for the night basically this

I'm.... not surprised considering how creepy some of the sexual themes are in her music. You can't just make a music video and song portraying children that's about sex what the fuck. She's got issues and I hope she's held accountable.

... yup, I feel you. She definitely seemed different. And from my personal experience, it doesn't always affect your outward behavior. And it could have very well started as something different-- I think that the time when she was living alone in an apartment making music before she went to LA might have catalyzed some of her darker thoughts. But she was definitely struggling before, since she's spoken about having problems with drinking. I also worry about her interactions with others and how she really talks often about abuse, although I've said before that a lot of it sounds personal and not like domestic violence, but she has stated in an Q&A that Downtown was written about a time where she (paraphrase) "wanted to be mistreated". I don't know. As she gets more popular, despite it betraying her image, I sort of wish she'd be more open. But I think the issue is that she might still be struggling with things. I think she's trying to convey some of the pain she's felt and is feeling through things like The Story of X, because she constantly mentions that it's autobiographical despite being abstract and if you've ever "been there", you know exactly what she's talking about. Which is really, really sad. I don't think some of her stans actually deeply relate to some of the stuff in her music, but they're under no obligation to do so, so it's fine.

I still wonder what happened in her old life that makes her loathe it so much. She didn't seem that bad before. Just a quirky, talented girl. She also talks a lot about something happening to her at like, 13 or something, that caused her to end up in the hospital a lot and affected her health and the way she saw her body. Sis has been through... some shit
