  1. Yeah. I agree with a lot of what you said here, but I felt like listening to it sober was a religious experience ;D Yeah, I talked about the space imagery. That's definitely how it felt to see her live. <3___<3
  2. This is what I said about it on Facebook: This music video is so good! I might even say it's perfect. One thing I love about Lana Del Rey is that she can make it sound like she's singing right into your ear. In terms of the "amount" of character her voice has, I would put her in the same category as, say, Leonard Cohen or Stevie Nicks, so I love that her voice is so less processed in this song than in many of her other recent tracks. I love the idea that music and/or being In Love can metaphorically transport you to outer space. In general, I love her over-the-top earnestness and her iconic imagery. There's a reason her fans (me included) call her "Queen."
  3. Guys. I'm 99.74% sure she's saying "with Ribbons on ice". I can't hear a "b" or an "L"... Also, what do you guys think of the "soft grunge" line. I know "soft grunge" is (apparently) from tumblr, but I was under the impression that it was more a fashion thing than an actual music thing... Does anyone have any insights about that or why she mentioned it?
  4. Wow. Cool that you guys are still arguing about that line. I guess the lyrics must not be in the liner notes. "too bad" no one buys CDs anymore? Haaaaaaaaa..... ETA: I definitely hear a W in there somewhere and I definitely hear an "a"
  5. Have any of you heard of a guy on youtube under the account name, "inmendham"? I feel like his perspective on things really matches the subject of the song. I would love for someone to make a video of this song interspersed with clips of him speaking and maybe clips of really awful stuff (stuff that contradicts the "life is beautiful" narrative of the song)
  6. wow! That's, like, exactly how I feel about her! (see my signature). Except, like, no, she's not A goddess, she's fucking God! Also, I agree (to various degrees) with a lot of the other stuff you wrote! XD
  7. ...is today!!! How is everyone celebrating? What's Lana doing? Is this tending on twitter? Hahahaha!
  8. This isn't mine; I just saw it from searching #lanadelreyphoenix... Does anyone know who Roger is? Was he in trouble, or something? LMAO! https://instagram.com/p/2sh7SDiA-z/
  9. I recently started listening to a youtube playlist of her unreleased songs, but there are 135 songs on it! Lol!
  10. Hey. So, those songs I hadn't heard before, like Serial Killer, were any of them new or just unreleased?
  11. Were you there, Creyk? Yeah, it was an awesome show... I almost cried a few times, and not [just] because I was there by myself! Lol! She said she saw people lined up before the show, but didn't get a chance to say hi, 'cause she had to do sound check. And like the other person said, she took pictures with the people in front during the show. I would have stuck around after, but I couldn't see a place the general public would have access to where she would be able to show up. I did see a picture online of someone meeting her through a fence, but idk. Lol. I would have loved to meet her—even through a fence. Lol...
  12. Is anyone here? Lol I'm WAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYY in the back. Hahaha... :/
  13. I actually really liked this review of Born to Die (except I think I would have given it a solid 8.0, at least). I think it's like we're coming from the same place. Like, "'robot girlfriend?' whatever, have you listened to this shit?" yeah. You can't give a negative review to an album you find yourself listening to and singing/humming [along with] over and over again! Lol http://www.pastemagazine.com/articles/2012/01/lana-del-rey-born-to-die.html And then I was listening to Ultraviolence last night, and, I just kept thinking, why would I need to THINK about or analyze this album to death (even with the flaws I would admit it has) when it makes me FEEL so strongly!? [also, I am a feminist, but that's a discussion for another time. It certainly doesn't keep me from enjoying her music!]
  14. Guys. Sry. For this venue... It's an amphitheater... By "GA," I meant that it was a "grass seat," which is furthest away from the stage. :/
  15. Whenever I see, like, a review or whatever, of a LDR album or something, well, these hipsters on youtube seem to give her generally negative reviews, but whatever they don't like about it, I either completely disagree with them or could not give less of a fuck. It's like... Were we listening to the same thing? Like, can they not tell how beautiful the music is or how incredibly versatile and expressive and beautiful her voice is? Another thing is that maybe I just have a thing for melodrama, because I heard a lot of the same criticisms about her lyrics as I did (at least in terms of being melodramatic) with Evanescence, which was my favorite band of the past 10+ years... Look, I know. "haters gonna hate." is it really as simple as that? I feel like there has to be something else going on somewhere...
