Themes in OTTR and throughout BTD are Lolita-based. Lolita is a novel by Vladimir Nabokov about a teenage girl named Dolores whose stepfather, Humbert, falls in love with. This is where lyrics such as "My old man is a bad man" and the lines "Light of my (interchangeable with "his") life, fire of my ("his") loins" are the first few words of the book, if I'm not mistaken. I haven't read it, but I have heard it's a good book, just controversial.

Perhaps a bit of a negative spin on the underrated LDR songs thread but I think we need this thread tbh (praying it doesn't already exist).
Just for the record, I love or at least like every one of Lana's songs but this is the first one that comes into my head...

I mean, I like it. The lyrics are sweet but I always secretly have to hold myself back from skipping it on AKA because it just doesn't really fit the mood that I'm in when I listen to the album. I think people obsess over it too much, I don't know how you can like this more than some of the other songs on the album.

Or the priest... Anyone else remember that whole thing with the reverend? Maybe that was just a roleplay?

I didn't catch this retweet when it happened, probably because she deleted it 6h later. Anyway, I'm side-eying the fuck out that retweet. We don't know her intent was retweeting it, and it probably isn't any actual endorsement of pedophilia (perhaps it was just a joke, perhaps she just liked the controversial nature of the opinion of her work, perhaps it was a mistake), but regardless, it's in unbelievably poor taste. I'm just glad she or someone else had the sense to delete it.

and I think it managed to escape others too. My intent is not to make a Lana-bashing thread, but just.... this is really side-eyey and I wanted to share.

I find Lana's drug use kind of thrilling but I don't really fixate on it, I never really did. I don't think she still uses hard drugs, but like any ex drug addict, I think she still has coping issues. Like Ride for example I think sometimes she may get into hard patches in her life that make her want to use again. It's hard to stay completely sober but I have confidence she has. That being said, I think that's really her business at this point. And unless she's vomiting out of night clubs and what not, I don't really care - am not really concerned about Lana doing drugs right now.

It's not Barrie's band, it's Kassidy. And I think this should go in Entertainment like the other artists.
