4 minutes ago, summer bummer said:LFL & UV - #1
BTD, HM, COCC, DYKTIATUOB- #2
NFR - #3
BB - #8 💀
That looks nice! Minus the long ass acronym lol. Maybe DYK would have been better.

Just now, Ultraviolencez said:is mileys album flopping or what cuz i thought it was doing good
From the little I picked up on it seems like it didn't sale as much as was anticipated in its first week. So I think it may be less of a concern than what was once thought. That said could still generate enough to block Lana maybe.
Morgan will definitely be the one to block #1 though from the little bit I have seen about his sales, he is doing massive #'s even if they are less than what was originally projected.
2 minutes ago, lanitataco said:i dont really think kpop is as massive in the usa as much as social media makes it out to be i feel like their age group is younger that a majority of the music market
Good deal, always seemed like maybe they do well here. Hopefully we can snag #2 then lol!

Just now, Peppers said:Just Morgan, the other two highkey bombed
I knew Miley's debut was less than what was expected. Ugh Morgan, mess lol. I really don't follow or listen to Kpop but I know their fanbases can be crazy lol. I thought maybe there was a solo album coming out from a member of a main group or something.

3 minutes ago, anwdelrey said:No I feel you completely! LFL was truly an era, she definitely put effort into promoting that album and it was a super fun time to be a part of the fandom.
NFR promo was on theme with the album, cute but she didn’t promote it hard.
Cocc/bb was a terrible time to be a fan imo, eras filled with controversy (self inflicted at times) and bad press 😭 hoping we have a fun week lined up for Tunnel, but I doubt it.
Yes exactly lol! LFL and Honeymoon will always hold a special place in my heart. Gives me those good feels. Glad we made it through the COCC/BB trenches. I think we are in store for a refreshing release here. While she may not be promoting like she used to it definitely is still something very special. The energy has shifted and again you can feel the anticipation. I almost wish it would have been a summer release though. It just has that vibe to me lol.

Who's her main competition for release? Morgan, Miley... Isn't there a Kpop band and or singers releasing too?

5 minutes ago, anwdelrey said:NFR sold really well it just didn’t hit #1 because some huge artists released that week as well.
UV sold 182k.
HM sold 115k.
LFL sold 108k.NFR sold 105k.
Chemtrails sold 75k.
Blue Banisters 33k.
Poor blue lol, we still stan though.

1 minute ago, anwdelrey said:NFR sold nearly as well as LFL it was just that release week I think Tool or some big band released an album.
Yeah, saw you post the #'s. I just knew NFR wasn't #1. There was something in the air in 2017 though, even if less sales the energy from the release was palpable. Maybe that was just because I was on vacation when LFL came out but we had a lot more interviews mag shoots, etc etc lol. NFR release was very good too. It is always interesting how looking back you correlate album releases with different life events/times of your life. That is a side note not specific to the topic at hand though lol.

#2 would be amazing, very interested to see what the actual sales equate to.

1 minute ago, lanitataco said:Why didnt NFR? I dont think that was a #1 but it seemed like the GP liked it. At least more than LFL but LFL if i remember had good marketing and was kinda near her peak. i think its safe to say shell be in the top 10 but i dont think #1...
NFR was a grower, sleeper hit in a way. It came in at #2 or #3 I think.
LFL had everybody hyped and ready, all the magazines and publicity... awww good times lol.

I've ordered all the vinyl variants with exception of the picture disc and none have shipped. Oh well lol, for some reason they always ship out later for me it seems.
Both my Target and Amazons are now saying 3/28-3/30. Lana's store always takes a bit and the indie one has no update at all. Fingers crossed it just pops up one day... before the 24th lol.
-
SpoilerAs some other have already said I kind of feel like this album is a more mature, evolved, and well executed LFL in the sense that it blends and melds so many different styles, techniques, genres, and moods overall. Granted it is more introspective and revealing, definitely a different level. But still a melding of quintessential Lana with new flairs to boot. Idk really feel like this may be the pinnacle for Lana as an artist, at least up until this point in her career. Like at the top of her game. It's crazy considering her output and how consistent the quality is across all of her projects.
-
SpoilerLet The Light In really one of her best collabs ever huh, yes I believe so. Such a vibe/mood. Love it! I really don't hear TNC though. Instant classic!

Just now, anwdelrey said:Most publications probably already have the album/are reviewing it already.
Ready for them to start posting, not expecting any till at least mid week though.

Say this every album but I really want a behind the scenes process/breakdown lol.
Like in what order were the songs recorded. How did they evolve and change.
the fact that Lana is always working makes it all that much more interesting.
hopefully one day we got our documentary lol.

5 minutes ago, tienmej said:I don't necessarily see why one would react strongly to this comparison, since in my opinion it is in no way derogatory. But as I have said, I think this is the closest Lana and Antonoff have been to his work with Taylor purely in terms of the way it sounds.
Sorry if it came off strong. Wasn’t the intent. Just conversing and sharing my personal thoughts on the Taylor/Lana comparisons that always happen. That last part wasn’t directed to you personally.
I can definitely hear the similarities in the track Margaret though. They all kind of play off of one another and inspire each other so makes sense. Especially with jack being such a prolific collaborator with the two of them lol.

14 minutes ago, tienmej said:Okay honestly
My verdict is that essentially this album to Lana is what Folklore is to Taylor. And it is reinforced by the fact that some songs sound exactly like those on Folklore and Evermore instrumentally (Margaret for instance). No wonder they had a collab this year lol. Well last year technically. For me Margaret is the only comparable track. I know some have mentioned Fishtail sounding like it is off of midnights but I do not hear that myself.
Folklore/Evermore and Did You Know are apples and oranges sound wise to me. Maybe they can be compared in the sense that they are an evolution of each artists sound but Did You Know differs in regard that it blends many different genres sounds and stylings while Evermore to me seems more tightly constructed.
SpoilerMy personal take and just a personal take, no shade to Taylor she is a brilliant musician and business woman but she could never do what Lana does. Lana could definitely make Taylor’s music if she chose to but Taylor could not go full Lana. I think she is a little more restrictive in that sense like she has a plan and keeps control over the way things work in that regard. She keeps herself reeled in a bit while Lana is more go with the flow, adaptive, and not scared to be a little more OUT there.

8 minutes ago, Bonita said:they gave it 5 stars
No surprises as it more easily accessible. No shade either, NFR is one of her top albums for me.
Yes, def don’t see this getting the NFR level praise. It’s definitely going to be more divisive lol. If you get it you get it. Feel sorry for those who don’t, critics included.
-
4 minutes ago, Bonita said:but them rating it the same rating as bb, cocc, and honeymoon is interesting
Tells me they have trouble differentiating/stepping outside comfort zone to really rate.
Let's see what other publications say, perched.
Curious what they rated NFR, since that is considered her "most acclaimed."

7 minutes ago, imasadboy said:Not a bad review, we anticipated critics wouldn't care for the Pastor interlude so no surprise there. They get Fingertips and AW being top tier, love that. Also love that they highlight Fishtail too, it deserves all the praise it receives.

SpoilerThe lyrics across this album, just yes. So many standouts, so revealing, so raw.... and so many ICONIC one liners.

it means quit lusting after your neighbor
that’s a heck of a life!
you get to love your children in front of you
you get to love, you have to talk to somebody about a new life
i don’t love my wife anymore, i don’t love my kids anymore
? like they’re usually my age
does that sound like love
it’s a life long ? with lust
but for too long they’ve been holding it on
and finally they just get weak
and they say it doesn’t matter anymore
and the spirit ?? with desires with
what you have and what’s in front of youso as it works deep in your heart
as you call out to Him
how could you do it to me man?
help me want what I got
help me love what’s in front of me
help me want more of my wife and more of my friends
and help me serve the city I live in and not wish it away and hope I can move
help me God
I want to be a man in love
Not a man in lust
But you’ve got to do that
?? person up therePsalms Chapter 8
And do you know what I got in this verse?
This is going to sound crazy to you but I’m gonna tell you
the absolute truth, it’s going to make me sound so ? so I’m looking forward to it
I woke up this morning and God said “check the bible”
?? I’m going to speak to you from the verse of the day
That means I don’t have to do anything, I don’t have to look anywhere
Just look at the verse of the day
So I get to the verse of the day
And here’s the verse of the day, today, in the bible
Look at this
Look at the splendor of the skies
You creative genius glowing in the heavens
When I gaze, when I gaze at your moon and your stars
Mounted like jewels in their settings
I know you are the fascinating artist who fashioned it all
When I look up and I see such wonder and workmanship above
I have to ask this question
I’ve got to ask this question
Compared to all this cosmic glory,
Why would you ever bother with puny, mortal man
Or being ??? , don’t get me started ?? infatuated
Or be infatuted with Adam’s son?
Why are you so infatuted with me?
You’re the star creator, you’re the ocean maker
you’re the whale creator, you’re the rhino designer
Who do you think you are?
And then it goes on in verse 5
??
Yet what honor you have given to me,
Created only a little lower than Elohim
Which is the name of Creator God
All this to god
You want to call God about this
At some point tonight when you go to bed yell:
“Yo, Elohim!”, and he’ll hear: “You’re the best artist ever!”
Crowned like kings and queens with glory and magnificence
You have delighted, you have delegated to them mastery over all you have made
You’ve made me a partner with you
I wish to think my preaching was mostly about you
And you’re not going to like this but I’m going to tell you the truth
I’ve discovered my preaching is mostly about meThis legit just made me order the Target variant, it's the only one I hadn't purchased yet. I wasn't going to but seeing real pics of it, it is so pretty.
