Hopefully this means that they’re in circulation. Because wasn’t Eclipse the only one with those tracks at one point?

Aw I get where she’s coming from with some stans blindly enjoying everything their artists put out but I feel like the article in question really did not make any meaningful points of criticism lol. Like Lana said, a lot of journalists tend to exaggerate or add some odd narrative to Lana’s albums that puts the emphasis on all the wrong aspects of the music. That article heavily referenced a bunch of legendary artists they thought Lana drew inspiration from (and she undoubtedly does listen to a lot of them) but I don’t think she wrote parts of this record with them exactly in mind so it’s pretty unfair to make deliberate comparisons to them and berate her for it. An actual red pill for this record would be discussing how Lana selectively chooses Kanye as a scapegoat for the loss of the culture when one of the members of The Beach Boys (who she also references in the same song) is a big Trump supporter as well. Idk who pointed that out but I saw it in a thread here and that’s definitely somewhat hypocritical

Reading her interviews is one of my favorite parts of the album release cycle She's so eloquent and well spoken, an actual angel -
In the name of higher consciousness I let the best man I knew go 'Cause it's nice to love and be loved But it's better to know all you can know Ah, she was well beyond her years with this one

Bartender reminded me of a song I couldn’t put my finger on for a while but I finally got it The melodic riffs and the piano playing definitely reminds me a bit of the Doveman Remix of Futile Devices by Sufjan Stevens (in the best way possible). Also California’s chorus is actually very Sia-esque imo

Oh wow. Worth It sounds pretty interesting ngl Definitely hear Marina’s signature quirkiness in the lyrics alone but the production sounds very modern like L+F

I guess my opinion is kinda biased from being a longtime Lana fan but this album is lowkey her best when you consider how much it showcases her growth as an artist. Like how can those personal references in the lyrics and Lizzy Grant vocals not be incredibly sentimental to any Lana stan. It'd be interesting to have a non-Lana fan listen to all of her albums back to back and see if this album is just as remarkable to them without fully understanding all the layers this record has to offer.

Even though the production is sparse I find it so cinematic. It’s absolutely stunning.

The only song I’m having a hard time warming up to is California It’s the second half of the chorus that kinda ruins the song for me. It’s still far from bad but it comes across as cheesy to me for some reason. I mean, Lana’s usual lyrical cliches are present all over this record but it doesn’t really work on this track imo. Though the delivery definitely calls back the playfulness of Born to Die for me and I love it for that. Plus that outro being heavily reminiscent of PWYC is everything.

Such a good album I can’t This truly marks her growth as an artist in every way. Her voice really aged like fine wine. The Greatest is really one of her most political songs in the sense that she accurately captures the disillusionment in America in light of recent events. It’s just very self aware and almost kitschy but it’s so heartbreaking hearing her reminisce about the past as if she’s trying to run away from the present.

NFR is so Southern California. I really feel like she achieved everything she wanted to pack in about the Californian lifestyle from her point of view into a beautiful showreel of an album. I’m also incredibly high but wow what a beautiful, lush album. That 50s oriental sound from the Love demo actually finding a place on the album is amazing.

It’s like it wanted to be 23 Beaches and In My Feelings at the same time Edit: I’m gonna stop talking about LFL now before I write my 65th essay on why it’s so tragic -

Anna ou- Also it sounds terrible through headphones l don’t know what they were thinking when they mastered it Like I get she wanted to keep the lo-if aesthetic but the sound would’ve been so much more pleasing if it was more polished and not so muddy -
