I love the pause after he asks about Yosemite. Damn wish she wasn't rushed into putting this out Wouldn't mind if it got delayed so she could think it out more because it's so obvious the Lust for Life that was supposed to be released on May 26 had a more thought out and cohesive tracklist/sound based on interviews and the album trailer. The LFL we're getting now is kind of like a messy hybrid of what it once was and last minute additions I'm surprised she says she's always conflicted about what tracks to put out till the last minute because every album up until this point sounds like it was very well thought out. Also confused because GL treads on BAR territory for me thematically so why not just keep it at that point Like individually, the songs are amazing but in context of the album, they don't flow at all. Like I'm not feeling the contrast between the political tracks and the love songs. Also her new habit of rushing in the lyrics to fit the melody this era is Anyways, the concept of Roses Bloom for You as an intro actually sounds really cool and I wish we got to see it in action this era. Maybe she'll reuse or even rework it for the next album if she puts out Yosemite since they both have idyllic/optimistic themes if LDR6 heads in that direction. alongside life is beautiful

The fact that Summer Bummer's verse has the exact same melody as the verses in Animals by Neon Trees

Groupie Love is something else. The melody when she sings "and everytime you look up" I can see Brooklyn Baby, Groupie Love, and Cruel World being in an album together if UV was more psychedelic.

The direction she's heading for with LFL is so interesting to me because of UV. It's almost like a regression. You'd think she'd go for this type of sound (Lust for Life, Summer Bummer) during or right after BtD but we got UV. It's funny to me because she recorded UV when she was younger than when she made LFL. Really loved the themes of her questioning the bigger meaning of life with songs like Is This Happiness and her cover I Talk To Jesus (which we haven't heard) but her intent is understandable. I really felt like she was channeling such wise and deep/personal thoughts through the eyes of her personal legends like Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen. Maybe it's because she was depressed Obviously I don't want her to be depressed but I hope she can revisit those themes in a positive and reflective light. That's why I'm so in love with Life is Beautiful. I love the theme and the lyrics which is something that I think is lacking in this era. I think Life is Beautiful's lyrics that are just as great as the lyrics we got from UV/BtD even without it being too melancholic. There's a really charming sense of maturity and optimism in that song and I definitely think that's something she can relate to today as she seems to have found happiness and a steadier footing in life. Ugh, I love my queen.
