TRENCH 15,450 Posted December 6, 2018 I've had this in my brain for the past month an a half an needed to make it. I've always voiced before how Lana should re-release AKA on its 10th aniversary and how cool it's be. But I've been wondering now , after Rockwell, what's left? after HM shes somehow been reverting back in lyrical topics/style in a #tbt kind of way.. so could it all go back to the start? \ this is just me blabbering a fun thought
Dark Angel 202,339 Posted December 6, 2018 That would be so cute for her to rerelease it on the 10th anniversary, I feel it would be very bittersweet for her. And for her to see how far she's come..
ivy 1,693 Posted December 6, 2018 That would be amazing, tbh. But I do think that she would have to have very good reasons to do so, especially narrative wise. As AKA already has its spot in her discography (it being her first album), and how the rest of her albums are all built on their predecessors, it could seem odd to re-release it. I don't think she would do it, but who knows? What if she does feel like she's come full circle with everything that's she's wanted to say with her LDR character? A new Lizzy album in the vein of AKA would be awesome too!

ivy 1,693 Posted December 7, 2018 yes! thats what I was trying to say! I feel like that persona is about to RIP soon in all honesty Lol! Didn't she say she felt like she said everything she wanted to say after she released BTD in that Vogue interview from 2012? "Oh, I don't think I'll write another record. What would I say? I feel like everything I wanted to say, I've already said." And yet, here we are, 6 years later lol. It would be very interesting to see what would happen if she were to ditch the persona. Do you think she'll come up with a new one? Or do you think she'll start writing as herself? And is that even possible?

ivy 1,693 Posted December 7, 2018 Ok so, I've been thinking... There is this theory floating around here that the narrative of Honeymoon (the album) is some sort of 'battle' between Lana and Lizzy (author vs persona), which I think is really interesting. For instance, if you would keep that theory in mind while reading the lyrics or listening to the album, you could interpret Swan Song ("And I will never sing again and you won't work another day") as the last song of the persona. Generally speaking, because the definition of 'swan song' is "a song like that fabled to be sung by a dying swan; the last work of a poet or musician, composed shortly before his death; hence, any final performance, action, or effort." according to the Oxford English Dictionary. On the other hand, if you were to apply that same theory to her recent lyrics... - MAC ("Right where you are; that's where I am") - HTD ("No one's going anywhere; I'm always going to be right here") ...you could argue that she's fully accepted and embraced her persona. Just my two cents! Sorry for the essay lmao

And is that even possible? true , but I feel as if shes coming from her true self instead of having to allude to outside sources like "he was as #hot as James Dean" or that she used to sing through characters like Lolita, Carmen, Marylin Monroe, etc etc and paralleling her life to those characters as to now she's just saying "yes this went like this based on my own eyes" That persona died a long time ago already. agree Ok so, I've been thinking... Just my two cents! Sorry for the essay lmao that Honeymoon one makes sense. I've always wondered why she would make a literal Swan Song if she would keep up (more so) the Lana persona. like we're all sure the swan song wasn't a bout the end of some old relationship... it was either about her true self of her persona
Dark Angel 202,339 Posted December 8, 2018 This is very intriguing... I do wonder what Lana is going to do music and career wise in the future. I feel like Lana's image has transformed so much... I can't imagine what could come next.
TRENCH 15,450 Posted August 27, 2019 with the recent release of "The greatest," his theory gets a bit of more hold.
ivy 1,693 Posted August 27, 2019 with the recent release of "The greatest," his theory gets a bit of more hold. Yeah, I guess so! In terms of her songwriting it seems like she's literally describing her experiences (day-in-a-life way of storytelling) as herself: "You took my sadness out of context at the Mariners Apartment complex", like, that's oddly specific! lol "So I moved to California", it's literally her who has moved there, no fictional story-telling here. "Hawaii just missed a fireball / L.A.'s in flames, it's getting hot", again she's describing real events. So there certainly seems to be a shift from fiction to non-fiction, I'd say. Additionally, it seems (at least to me) that incorporating such real and literal events adds to the honesty and authenticity of her music.

320kbps 3,642 Posted August 27, 2019 all of us on lanaboards like but seriously i completely agree i think the line "maybe i'm burned out after all" from The Greatest could be about her being burned out from the Lana Del Rey persona??

WilshireBoulevard 5,420 Posted August 29, 2019 I think I'll cry if we get an official release of AKA especially if she like released it alongside the poetry book as a kind of 'look how far I've come'. Imagine what the critics would say after being warmed up from NFR.... ground control to major tom, lizzy hears you all night long 2 Quote locals only
