it seems to me like she's just pussying out of straightforwardly saying I'm a feminist rather than some 92828 iq word play to troll people

I think maybe her wording was very intentional and I think its because she believes that there are more than 2 logical possibilities: you can be a feminist, a non-feminist, or neither (neutral)

so I think she means it like this= "I am not (not a feminist)" instead of "I am not not (a feminist)"

the point was that she’s a feminist who still feels the way she always has. she takes a submissive role in her relationships and didn’t want that to be confused by people saying “YOURE NOT A FEMINIST BC YOU LIKE TO BE SUBMISSIVE” which kind of backfired by her clarifying that she’s not saying she ISNT a feminist, but indeed is, one who still feels that there should be a place for women who like to be submissive and are by their own choice, not by someone else’s

I love the title “Faith Can Only Get The Fragile So Far” ... sounds like Hope’s depressed beyond belief older sister

Thank you! I really hope (hehe) she continues making tracks in the lyrical vein of Hope is a Dangerous Thing... as I think Lana at her most contemplative is such a treat to be able to experience!

Stop it, you're setting us up for a huge disappoinment when the actual cover drops:defeated:

Now I will be upset if there are no lines of cocaine on the cover:crai:

:defeated: you’re too kind! Since we know BRTHR is directing the video, I hope that denotes “Chemtrails” will be trippy and I love the idea that the title is literal, metaphorical for sociopolitical satire, and a euphemism for cocaine all at once!

i mean yeah it's obviously a double negation but what the fuck is the reason behind it, just say you're a feminist and go. unless she's catering to both agendas and doesn't want to upset either of the sides.

my point is that maybe shes not a classical logician lol. not everybody agrees that a double negative is always equivalent to the original non-negated proposition

and I agree with you-- if she really meant "I am a feminist" there is absolutely no reason for her to word it like that

straightforwardly saying 'I'm a feminist' instead would've still gotten that point across just as fine if not better. her wording just made people even more confused.

anyways does it matter of shes a feminist or not like idc tbh.

It really doesn't. Why do people want her to state something that she doesn't feel authentically? So you can feel good about it? Too bad.

let me be who i'm meant to be

I believe she meant by the double negative that she has feminist values but the mainstream version of feminism has always bashed her and doesn't accept her place in it, so it's hard for her to fully identify as one. I think it's pretty silly to argue that she's against the concept of feminism. Her music and her power in the industry and controlling her own narrative clearly suggest otherwise, and the submissive themes she explores don't negate that at all.

It's annoying that Rolling Stone quoted her incorrectly, I hope they fix it.
