If this was MelanieBoards and in a Random Melanie Discussion Thread, I would be doing that. Also bringing it up on her subreddit got me and others banned for it, so I've done it before there.

 

Regardless, it doesn't change how I feel about Lana and does not, in any way, make it okay what she's done. You're redirecting to Melanie to deflect. And to me, all of those things that both of them have done are terrible and whether or not you think so has no impact on how I feel. And if I wasn't a Melanie fan, you'd find some other reason to try and redirect things away from Lana

No they didn't. They decided it would be a cool idea to completely redirect. People who were already prone to glaze Lana would have found another reason or another way to deflect. 

Also Domestic Violence is right up there with rape and people are out here running interference to defend Lana and absolve her of what small amount of responsibility she has in the reaction to that.

I’m confused what anyone expects Lana, TaP, or anyone that’s not in charge of this guy’s work contract to do? 
 

Plus, you can’t just fire someone bc of online claims, that’s grounds for wrongful termination—I hope she’s at least filed a police report.

 

And if she has filed a police report, then really, it can’t be discussed publicly—he’ll be investigated pending the police, and put on leave until a decision is made. From what I understand (albeit not an expert).

I enjoy Lana’s flirting with dark themes in her music. UV is my favorite album of hers for this reason. I do not think she condones domestic violence, nor glorifies it.

 

My own personal belief is that she tends to surround herself with strange people - i.e. Jack’s bizarre instagram posts, this bodyguard who is being accused of pretty heinous behavior, and her husband - I’ll be respectful and give him the benefit of the doubt because they’re married, and he seems like he has a kind heart - but he outwardly posted violent things on his Facebook.

 

You misinterpreted my (admittedly badly-worded) indictment of the Smarty lyric as a sign that she’s okay with domestic abuse. I am moreso speaking to her tendency to align herself with morally dubious men, and her reluctance to distance herself from them.

You and the others are only doing it to defend Lana, though. I can hammer on both but it makes precisely zero sense to do that on a post not about her.

I wouldn’t say she’s “okay” with it, but rather morbidly curious or fascinated by these darker themes—especially in the abstract, artistic form. 
 

I think we all probably surround ourselves with more morally dubious people than we realize, but since we’re not celebrities, no one is digging into our friends/colleagues/etc.‘s closets.
