  If you are poor and cannot afford health insurance, I pay for your healthcare through Medicaid and if you are old, Medicare. If you can’t afford to go to school, I pay for your Federal Pell Grant. Oh, and if you’re a migrant, I pay for your shelter and food costs. 
 

So, yeah, like, it’s totally terrible these private companies are taking my money to pay for other people’s things. Oh… wait… .

Trump won North Carolina by 1.34% in 2020. With this inept candidate as their Republican nominee for governor, the Democrat is almost guaranteed to win. This advantage in the governor’s race could easily drag Kamala to a surprise win in the state that’s been red since 2012. Down ballot races are so important…

with just several weeks to go until nov 5th, republicans are now attempting to change election laws in several states at the last minute 

 

in nebraska, the gop are pushing to have their state's electoral vote law converted back to a "winner takes all" method as opposed to it's current law where it awards EV's by congressional district. the state's 2nd congressional district, which holds the city of omaha, has historically voted blue twice awarding an electoral vote to obama in 2008 and to biden in 2020 in it's 30+ year history since the law was enacted in 1992. the reason why republicans are trying to change this now is so trump is awarded all 5 of nebraska's EV's which could make all the difference to who wins the election. current trends and polling suggests kamala is most definitely going to win the popular vote in omaha and be awarded the district's electoral vote. if she were to lose the swing states of NV, AZ, GA and NC but win nebraska's 2nd district it would be just enough to give her the election but without that extra EV, trump would win.

 

in georgia, the board of elections is voting to require ballots to be hand counted in nov. if this passes it would create significant delays to calling a winner on election night, giving republicans time to claim fraud and manipulate the results with recounts. research suggests hand counting is also significantly less accurate than other methods used. if this goes though, the same thing that happened in florida in 2000 could also happen in georgia where a winner wasn't called for weeks due to disputes over a close vote count and it being up to the supreme court to declare a winner.

South Carolina Senator Lindsay Graham skipped Senate votes this week to lobby the Nebraska State Legislature to overturn their current electoral system. Feels like that should be illegal idk.

Maine should also convert to “winner takes all” if Nebraska does. Without the extra electoral vote Trump would get from ME-2 (he received in 2016 and 2020), he could not win even if he gets all of Nebraska

 maine responded saying they will do the same if nebraska actually does it, however any law changes in maine don't take effect for 90 days so it won't work out

Maine has a state law that prevents certain changes to the electoral process before a certain date. That date was like a couple days ago, it might not have been a coincidence this came out today

Ultimately, I still think a tie (269-269, leading to a Trump victory in the house) is unlikely 🤞even if Nebraska switches to winner takes all. This is a cheap ploy because they realize they’re losing, and I think the chances of Harris winning PA but losing all of NV, AZ, NC, and GA are low (I assume she’ll win at least one if she holds the blue wall)
 

it would be a shame to not have NE-2, as it’s my personally bellwether, as it seems to want to vote with the winner of the election recently.

Just stay the course, is my thought from all this. All these ploys are to breed uncertainty and suppress the vote. As long as everyone in GA, Omaha, and elsewhere still vote and enter that voting booth with the conviction that their vote counts, Harris can win regardless of hand counted ballots and a Nebraska winner-takes-all model.

it would be a shame to not have NE-2, as it’s my personally bellwether, as it seems to want to vote with the winner of the election recently. 

i also think a tie is probably unlikely. i think she will hold onto nevada. the tim walz appeal to voters in the rust belt will also hopefully keep the blue wall up. i also think she will win NC due to the abysmal governor they have on the ballot that will affect down ballot
