Every time nostalghia is mentioned, im hardwired to show my approval. This vibe would be perfect done by Lana! (Not that Nostalghia isn't perfect tho) I could say that these also have a foot in the genre too, especially I'd Still Kill You.
Wait For Life 16,740 Posted Friday at 10:44 PM Y'all gonna make fun of me but I think the Erotica album by Madonna is reminiscent of 'Southern Gothic' and I think Lana should shift to a sound like that. 1 Quote Gazing at horizons but never quite reaching them
Ultra Violet 18,850 Posted Friday at 10:44 PM Seems like Lana has just confused us tbh because there aren't good examples of Southern Gothic music and this whole thread is just us being like "I think it sounds like this" Wait @AngelHeadedHipster the mention of The Pierces! Yes! Apparently they were born in Alabama so I think this is the closest we have Dying to hear what @Elle thinks of The Pierces and Southern Gothic, as another fan Ive always thought of them as bohemian/hippies who make soft rock and country music. Knowing know that they're from Alabama it makes so much sense.

Adore them so much - I can’t even pick a favourite album, that’s how good they are. Maybe You & I though.. depends on the day. They’re a great example of that southern gothic vibe. I also love their solo projects too! Cat has a lot of witchy-sounding songs (You Belong to Me, The Gold is in the Dark, You Are What I Want) and Allison leans more folky with her Year of the Rabbit album. My top 5 favourite songs from the duo are Three Wishes, Monsters, The Good Samaritan, Space & Time, and Drag You Down! They’re absolutely incredible. Still gutted that they cancelled their reunion show in NYC in 2019 that I had tickets to x 3 Quote • 4.18.14 • 5.1.14 • 9.20.14 • 5.28.15 • 6.14.15 • 7.28.16 • 7.24.17 • 10.23.17 • 10.24.17 • 1.25.18 • 2.5.18 • 12.5.18 • 10.3.19 • 10.11.19 • 11.16.19 • SF • ATL • ATL • IND • ATL • CHI • LDN • NYC • NYC • DC • ATL • NYC • PDX • SAN • KS

I actually remember years and years ago you saying you loved Space & Time and The Good Samaritan, when I was just discovering their music <3 Im becoming even more fascinated by them now that i hope Lana might do this album in a similar style
AngelHeadedHipster 2,811 Posted Saturday at 05:30 PM Just discovered this artist called Saint Avangeline in a Lana reel on Instagram. This song has heavy UV vibes and she's as sirenesque and hypnotic as Lana. Wish somehow her and Lana collab and make more of these types of songs with UV vibes

I wouldn't call it Southern Gothic at all but the instrumental was actually composed by ChiversBeatCompany who makes "Lana Del Rey type beats" instrumentals on YouTube where singers can buy the beat online and write lyrics over it. The instrumental was described as "if Lana and Dan Auerbach did an Ultraviolence inspired track for a James Bond movie". They have a lot of great other Lana type beat songs there. I remember I discovered that type beat song in 2021 and loved it instantly from the first listen, I was so surprised when I found out that Lilith song used that instrumental and I was also surprised that the song became viral. She did the song justice though!

Thank you so much for letting me know about the instrumental. That production is God tier. Lana needs to bring back instrumental beats like these. I'm tired of Jack Antonoff's bland production. Good production is what is needed for Lana to rise like a Phoenix 🔥🐦
Ultra Violet 18,850 Posted 18 hours ago The intro of this song kinda gives Southern Gothic. The rest of the song doesn't, but it's an AMAZING song and one of my faves of the last 2 years
