Create your own DIY fake unleaked Lana Del Rey song/demo + fake info drops!

Recommended Posts

Let's be honest, Lasso is not coming any time soon and we've been on a seemingly endless leak drought since 2022 with only very few actually good moments/mass leaks ever since. Lots of grails were found, most of the stuff we all prayed for for years is leaked now. There's a lot that's yet to leak though, but it's not like, at least, outtake-wise we can expect a lot (excpet post-HM). We got lots of titles too, even if we don't have the songs. So let's have some fun and create our own hypothetical Lana Del Rey songs/demos with titles, lyrics, lenght, info/addicional tea, years and stuff. You can even create the songs or snippets using ai to give life to them, though it's not required! I'll start:

"Pretty Baby" (2013)

Tropico sessions, only the "pretty baby" lyric and melody from For K Part 2 was recicled for the chorus, acoustic ballad a la Nectar of the Gods, lyrics share some parallels with Yayo and is tematicaly similar, gorgeous backing vocals.

"Tarantino" (2011)

Unused instrumental from the later Born To Die sessions, she never wrote the lyrics, very Western influenced with trap elements and great orchestra, could've been Dangerous Girl part 2 but even better.

"Vicious" (2009)

Originally written for a Britney Spears's Circus follow up but never picked up, there are two demos from that time and a rework from Lust for Life sessions with updated lyrics and production, dark electropop a la She's Not Me with Jealous Girl femme fatale vibe but sexier, lots of whispered vocals and she uses more lower register in comparison to her other stuff from that time.

Groupie Love - Honeymoon demo (2015)

Recorded in the later sessions with Paradise and Dead to Me, sounds like Lust for Life demo meets Freak and Cry Kill Die, solo demo, beautiful HM era vocals, the strings are beautiful, some different lyrics and a bridge.

sunday (2005) [3:35] - an acoustic track, featuring the same sound, production, and quality as the rest of the may jailer songs, with only fingerpicked acoustic guitar, and lana's voice, lyrical content is introspective and abstract, similar to songs like more mountains, in wendy, and move, fans are shocked to hear another may jailer track, which leads to speculation that more sirens outtakes could exist, and that "sunday" was ultimately intended for sirens, but for some reason, wasn't included

mermaid parade (2007) [5:56] - a surf noir track, possibly intended for AKA, and produced by steven mertens, featuring a very similar sound to trash magic (demo 2), roller derby, and mermaid motel (demo), very tropical and "surf noir" instrumentally, with lyrical content similar to mermaid motel, very americana, with mentions of many lizzy grant tropes, such as palm trees, the ocean, and coney island, it becomes an instant hit with lizzy grant stans and goes #1 on the lizzy grant hot 100

trailer park meth (2008) [2:16] - an acoustic laptop demo, featuring lots of white noise, and haunting vocal layering and melodies, similar to yayo (laptop demo), and disco (version 2), lyrical content features many lizzy grant tropes, such as trailer parks, drugs, and jim, some fans appreciate the deliciously dark subject matter, and gritty, dreary sound, while some fans are worried tiktok will discover the song and deem it problematic and promoting methamphetamine use, metadata suggests it was recorded on december 21, 2008, at 7:01pm

dairy queen (2010) [1:49] - a laptop demo, featuring minimal white noise, with her vocal style similar to meth love, greenwich acid, and heartshaped chevrolet, the lyrics are kitschy, sweet, and very classically lizzy grant, it ultimately goes unnoticed by the majority of fans, but is adored by hardcore lizzy grant lovers

calabasas (2011) [4:01] - a pop song, intended for born to die, features a sound similar to paradise, serial killer, and gangsta boy, lana's vocals are very girly and exaggerated, and she mentions many of her tropes at the time, such as chateau marmont, cherry pie, and the mafia, it's a hit among fans who can appreciate her pop songs, it is speculated to actually be a writer's demo intended for demi lovato, who chose to release "made in the USA" instead

mother mary (2012) [5:00] - a dark, gothic track, intended for paradise, it fits right in with songs like body electric and gods and monsters, with the lyricism touching on themes such as religion, troubled, dramatic, romance, and dancing in pale moonlight, it's an instant favorite among fans, and the leak thread for it reached 45 pages, a voice memo is hinted to exist

dracula (2013) [4:40] - another dark, gothic track, intended for tropico/ultraviolence, it's similar to mother mary, yet is slightly lighter in sound, feeling reminiscent of tracks like nectar of the gods, earthquakes, and dragonslayer, lyrically, it's all over the place, with references to vampires, brighton beach, peach daiquiris, dolce and gabbana, and taking a trip to japan, many fans love it, while some criticize it for being so random and disjointed lyrically, insiders tease different mixes and demos, yet they will not leak for another 5 years

french riviera (2014) [5:13] - a breezy, soft track, intended for honeymoon, it is instrumentally quite minimal, and almost feels ambient music, lyrically, it's quite uplifting, describing lana and her lover taking a trip to the french riviera, some fans appreciate it for how pleasant, relaxing, and soothing it is, while some others find it mind-numbingly boring

color me in blue (2016) [1:59] - a concept demo, intended for lust for life, and later for NFR! it's very similar to valley of the dolls, featuring a haunting string instrumental, and lana's vocals, the lyrical content isn't too intriguing, just a simple song talking about love, emotions, and california, when the song's title was first revealed, fans believed it would be a concept demo for NFR, but it is not, when it leaked, some fans appreciated it's similarity to valley of the dolls, while some found it boring, a fake insider started a rumor that a final version exists, a rumor which never completely dies out, because people keep bringing it up and speculating on it

Well I’m a flop fan, I’d never heard of this one…

:magikarp:

This is the one that's rumoured to be Question for the Culture part 2 :icant:

Anyway,

"Come As You Are" (2007)

Acoustic Nirvana cover, very dark sounding (Get Drunk vibes), studio recorded

"No Fucks" (2018)

Club-concept stage of the NFR sessions outtake, trap pop with some Y2K vibes (think of Britney's Outrageous), rap pre-chorus, ethereal bridge with pre Born to Die era sounding vocals. Lana tried to get Ariana Grande on the track at some point but the feature never happened.

I loved your backstories for each track, absolutely fantastic! I'm picking Mother Mary, Dracula and Sunday.

"Don't Send Me Flowers" (October 2013) — 5:02

-same lyrics as "Breaking Up Slowly" but with an additional verse and bridge, heavy metal guitars + clavs + reverbed drums + high-pitched synths, she yells/sings the final chorus in an agonizing way, the bridge has a distorted electric guitar solo over her vocals à la shades of cool, one of her most rock-inspired tracks, sonically similar to Your Girl and Pink Champagne without the piano

California Dawn (2016) - unfinished concept demo with seagulls flying over the beach at dawn and waves crashing sounds, it has a surf rock dreamy sound with doom jazz influences and an underlying dark tone with musings on the quietness of life in the ealy morning and the inevitability of time.

Midnight Drive by The Seaside  (2023)- intended for Ocean Blvd but not much is known about it, rumor has it it sounds like a misty night looking at the ocean now how that translates sonically I cannot say

"Hotel Sirena" (2012): a rework of aka track "Mermaid Motel" intended for paradise. mostly the same lyrics as the aka version but with production by Rick Nowels, has a more paradise feel production wise with string. Was later replaced by Yayo.

Edit: Courtney Love actually really loved yayo and called "Hotel Sirena" (and Mermaid Motel in general) horrible causing Rick Rubin (who loved the song) to rip her weave off her head.

Ooo i have one more:

Hollywood (2014): Final version of the 2012 song of the same name that was intended for Ultraviolence, production by Rick Nowels, very similar to ride production wise with the drum pattern of the first Hollywood demo that leaked just with a more alt rock drum kit. Features string and more electric guitar and a guitar bass. Lana actually really loved this version but her label said they'd only release it if she put a kanye rap feat on the track (and thank God she said no because that wouldn't have aged well...) she's reportedly putting this version on lasso.

“Lily of the valley” (2015)

Made before honeymoon was released but never intended for the album. A mix of lust for life demo 1 and valley of the dolls. No final version but there are 4 demos and 3 of them are described as “very interesting” and “beautiful” with one being a concept demo similar to never let me go concept demo. Produced by Rick Nowels has very breathy vocals with slight reverb. A beautiful electric guitar is playing lightly throughout the chorus but it’s not rough or loud.

Concept demo - 2 and a half minutes long mostly mumbling and only about 50 ~ seconds of vocals the rest is instrumental

Demo 1 - 6 minutes long with about 3 - 4 minutes of vocals.

Demo 2 - 10 minutes long made up of instrumental breaks and about 3~ minutes of actual vocals the rest is just layered harmonies and instrumental.

Demo 3 - 12 minutes long 5 minutes of vocals and the rest is similar to demo 2. Very polished and the closest the song got to being finished. Was the last time lana really worked on the song because she couldn’t figure out what was missing from it so it got left on the cutting room floor. She sent jack the song during early ocean blvd sessions but jack never opened the email and she never brought it up so the song never became anything. And maybe thats a good thing cause the demos wouldve leaked after its release and it wouldve become a second lmlylaw :crai:

I feel like this song would be very personal lyrically speaking and would've had lana comparing herself to a lily of the valley beautiful but poisonous to those around her

"Motel Sugar Magic" (2007) - A haunting demo that sounds like a mix of 4th Of July, Dance For Money, & Trash Magic (Demo 1). Contains ethereal, haunting, layered vocals. Production wise, it contains a lot of white noise and surreal, eerie ambience. It also features light fingerpicking guitar, organs, and random magical sound effects. It would've appeared on Demo March 2009.

"Key West" (2008) - An acoustic demo in the same style as Super Movie and the 1949 acoustic demo. Contains fingerpicking guitar and the sound of ocean waves and the chirps of crickets in the background, similar to white noise. Overall, it's a very bittersweet, nostalgic track with lyrical content about how her & her lover used to go on road trips to the Key West.

"Corner Store Queen" (2009) - A femme-fatale track in the same vein as Hundred Dollar Bill, Diet Mountain Dew (Demo), and Summer Of Sam .Contains 90s-sounding, catchy, groovy hip-hop production with lyrical content about Jimmy, New York, corner stores, drugs, soda pops, and Chevvy Novas :sass:
