Cherry in general bothers me, like for me the production and lyrics are great but the fans ruined the song for me, like even way before TikTok fandom was a thing. It's like the most local song ever and I hate to say that word, like this song has all of them on chokehold. I haven't listened to the song in a long time. It used to be my favorite song from LFL but not anymore. 

 

I think all the fans begging for "CHeRrY mUsiC ViDEo" for like 2 years really was the last straw idk  Not to mention when the OG Lust For Life 2016 tracklist was revealed in November, I remember how everyone on Instagram comments were crying that "why Cherry isn't there", that "thank god she scrapped it" because "there's no Cherry"

The song is lowkey boring to me after all the listens i have on it. There are a lot more interesting songs out there with a really good production.

i looove cherry but i have to agree with this. the lana gang of my area all seem to only use 3 songs and that is very much one of them i don’t understand it 😭

I agree omg, and then they put it into “it ends with us” and that just made me so like, like as if everyone knew about it now, it became even more localised  it’s a beautiful song and I love it don’t get me wrong

I get that and lowkey agree with that and I'm sorry it got ruined for you

Though Cherry is still one of my go to bops and I try  to not get it ruined for me

But yeah I know the feeling when people/fans ruin a song for you and sometimes it makes me feel twisted because it's actually a great thing that alot of people appreciate, enjoy and stream it and I think that there are so many songs on Lanas discography that deserve way more streams and recognition but it can be annoying sometimes and ruin the song. I feel like sometimes it can make the song  loose a bit of  its magic and makes it feel more overhyped.

Exactly this and what I hate even more are the people who used to make fun of me because of me being a  Lana fan and told me her music is boring and depressing are now using her music in their insta stories and stuff like that and yeah it's always the same 5 songs as well but still

I really hope that "All About Ethel" isn't a real song and that if it is, it's not actually about Ethel Cain.

 

Given "So Legit"'s really fucked up lyrics ("You're looking like a man"), the fact her husband fantasizes about violently attacking trans women and Lana being completely okay with that, and dissing a prominent trans woman artist? As both a trans woman AND a Lana stan since she came out (as LDR)...I would be really, really devastated if she opted to diss Ethel using transphobia. I don't think it would end her career but I do think I might stop listening to her altogether.

 

If it's just a diss song that makes no reference to her being trans, that's fine though. But...I am concerned.

Ngl I have to agree. I may not stop listening to Lana's music altogether however, it would completely disconnect me from her as a person and make me lose a ton of respect for her.

the reason i'd have to stop listening is because like... I've spent so much money on Lana. I've bought every edition of her albums and singles, I've bought collector's items and magazines and bootlegs and collected every scrap she ever recorded. for her to ignore the firestorm around the fact her husband posted about beating up trans women - a firestorm that was noticed by even non-Lana fans - was really hurtful to me and everyone probably noticed that in the wedding thread. i ended up getting over that in the naive hope she maybe told him why that wasn't okay. so if she goes ahead and disses Ethel and brings up her trans status in any way would make me think she endorsed that kind of thing her husband posted and...I don't think I could listen to her music and not associate it with anti-trans violence, esp since I've lost a lot of friends to it.

ohh please throw ur concern in the garbage bae 😭 i promise there is no transphobia in any of lana's unleaked songs (at least the ones i've personally heard - i do know for a fact that she has said nothing transphobic about ethel cain in any song that is hypothetically about her) (not that i think a mention of a name in a song is enough to claim that the entire song is about that person - it could have been metaphorical tbh or an example of a larger theme lana was getting at)

Yea that is completely understandable. I also am kinda hopeful that maybe she did say something to Jeremy or maybe (and this is a huge maybe) that he's trying to or is changing (which tbh I doubt but hope is a dangerous thing lol).
