Embach 40,961 Posted October 25, 2023 Thinking about the song's bridge a lot lately. One of her top best bridges, it's so perfect!
The Sun Also Rises 5,514 Posted October 25, 2023 This is easily in my top-10 Lana songs. It's truly beautiful.ย ย I recently introduced my Mum to Lana Del Rey and she told me a story of how her friend was at the sameย psychiatric ward as David Bowie's half-brother, Terrence (Terry). Apparently David would come to visit him regularly and they would talk about art, spirituality, and poetry (this was during the 1970s, I think). They were incredibly close, and Davidย was apparently extremely down to earth, kind, and gentle.ย ย The way the song switches between the story of David and Terry and then Lana and herself, Lana and Barrieย โ so incredibly heartbreaking. The bridge makes me sob every single time. ย The bridge:ย "I put the radio on, hold you tight in my mind Isn't strange that you're not here with me I'm putting all the lights on and the television Trying to transmit, can you hear me?" ย Reminds me of this part of Fingertips:ย "To get to you, save you if I take my life Find your astral body, put it into my eyes Give you two seconds to cry Take you home, I, I'll give you a blanket Your spirit can sit and watch TV by my side" ย Both trying desperately to reach out beyond this world to someone who isn't there anymore ...ย ย 9 Quote The cicadas in the sunset are your guide

Embach 40,961 Posted June 5 Lana in an interview forย Lesย Rockutibles 2017 on how Terrence Loves You was born: On 3/29/2024 at 11:59 PM, Embach said: LDR: [...] For example, during the recording of Honeymoon, I regularly heard a melody in my head, which tortured me and which I could not catch. It sounded like Renaissance music... I had to hum this melody for months to tame it, it became Terrence Loves You (she sings at length)... ย
