Whenever people discuss about Lana's new lyrics, some members say "she's never been a really good songwriter," "she never was a lyrical genius," etc etc. So I'm making this thread as a reminder that Lana really is a great songwriter. You can share your favorite lines as well.

I think most people here dislike Body Electric, but i really like the lyrics from the bridge-

My clothes still smell like you,

And all the photographs say you’re still young.

I pretend I’m not hurt

And go about the world like I’m havin’ fun

We get crazy every Friday night,

Drop it like it’s hot in the pale moonlight.  :troll:

Grand Ole Opry, feelin' all right

Mary's swayin’ softly to her heart's delight.

Best lines from the Amazing Lyrics list

Trash Magic: "And you look even more handsome than you did the day that I left you."

Methamphetamines: "Where did you go? The Jersey Shore was long ago. As with our hopes and ocean grow, and so I bid you farewell."

Money Honey: Everything :poordat:

Black Beauty: "You said if you could have a way, you'd make a nighttime all today, so it'd suit the mood of your soul."

Old Money: "Will you still love me when I shine from words and not from beauty?"

Bel Air: "Gargoyles standing at the front of your gate trying to tell me to wait... but I can't wait to see you."

Video Games: Everything too :poordat: It's so well written

Off to the Races: "THEY WOULD RUE THE DAY I WAS ALONE WITHOUT YOU!!!!" :bop: :oprah:

Yayo: "Hello Heaven, you are tunnel lined with yellow lights on a dark night." </3

Pawn Shop Blues: "In the name of higher consciousness, I let the best men I knew go, 'cause it's nice to love and be loved but it's better to know all you can know."

Oh Say Can You See: "The sway of the hips and arms will cradle you from afar. They swing until you're tired and send you to Mars. Night time is almost ours."

Brooklyn Baby - They judge me like a picture book, by the colors, like they forgot to read

:defeated:

Never understood that line :toofunny:

Carmen has amazing lyrics, the best of BTD actually

Yes, but some lines are really horrible

She has the potential to be a great song writer (see Elvis) but repeats herself with words that seemingly don't mean anything apart from sounding pretty.

It may mean something to her undoubtedly but if I hear another song with 'boy blue' or 'red dress' or 'pale moonlight' in one more time.. :stop:  :scream:

It's just a bit lazy imo.

Sweeping scents and blue hydrangea. Summer hail and summer stranger.

Brooklyn Baby - They judge me like a picture book, by the colors, like they forgot to read

:defeated:

Never understood that line :toofunny:

I always thought she said "cover", like "Don't judge a book by its cover" ?  :judgingu3:

I think Lana Del Rey has some amazing lyrics, some less good and some quite bad. I couldn't get over "Cry tears of gold :flutter:  like lemonade  :crossed: ". But the melody usually makes up for those. About the recurrence of certain words ("red dress", "pale moonlight" etc ...) I think it actually sort of build her universe and it creates a form of intertextuality within her own world.

Actually bad lyrics

Diet Mountain Dew
Lolita
American
Burning Desire
Fucked My Way Up to the Top
Honeymoon
(+ millions of unreleased tracks)

Wait wuuuuuut  :bye3:
