But this literally isn’t a rambling song? It has a clear melody.

I just don’t think there’s anything groundbreaking or interesting in what she’s singing about

Maybe she thinks this is what country music is supposed to be. Idk but I  think it’s all very mundane keep-to-yourself-cos-no-one-asked type subject matter

“I’ll still be nice to your mum”

I mean okay but who cares

It’s fine though

It just isn’t my type of music and that’s okay

ur legit gonna look the same stop buying oil of Olay face cream

Its pretty but I think I'd like the instrumental more :ohno: I just know the chorus is gonna be a viral tiktok song soon though. It's another "when you know you know" situation but for wanna be cowboys and country housewifes

Edit: I mean the pre-chorus actually

"but yesterday, i heard God say, 'you were born to be the one to hold the hand of the man who flies too close to the sun'" and that orchestral bit that comes after...

No I already know I'm gonna love it a lot more than I already do. It's such a beautiful dawn moment to yourself moment all swooping and gently enchanting. The playful inflection towards the second part, and the twinkling yet weary production. the lyricism's just perfect and the song sounds and feels a lot clearer atmospherically

It's a jewel

It’s what I expected it to be

If it wasn’t by Lana and came up in my Spotify discovery, it’d get skipped in five seconds flat

Maybe I’m in the wrong mood to listen to it but it never really gets going

She can obviously make whatever type of music she likes at this point in her career, but this doesn’t hold a candle to anything pre-2020

I feel like she needs to write 5 more poetry books and/or a lengthy novel + maybe host a podcast to get all of this shit off her chest, and them go back to making music that isn’t just her rambling on for 5 minutes about God and some guy over the top of an instrumental that sounds like it’s from a how-to-draw tutorial on YouTube

the way she HAS done this for the last 5 years. She did COCC, Blue Banisters, violets bents, I think she had her time to do what she should and wanted to do, and I don't think she needs more than that for her to find herself, she already found herself and this album is a response, we know this isnt similar to her past 5 years works so wbk

The song is fine, it's not mindblowing or anything, the best part is obviously the instrumentals. There's a bit of recency bias going on with the overwhelmingly positive response, and that's normal. Let's say that it's not her promotional single with the most oomph, but I wasn't expecting that to begin with.

I don't think I'll listen to it ad nauseam before the album gets out, but looking forward to hearing it in that context. :true:

Wait so who is this song about

someone said something about henry being jack donoghues middle name or something and it kinda makes sense that it could be him. lets assume this song was written in late 23, her and jack dated the summer of 22 and he was mentioned in Kintsugi and on the back of ocean blvds vinyl so its maybe about him

I'm so happy to finally have new Lana buuuuuuut

I'm a bit underwhelmed to be honest. I hope it grows on me. Usually I listen to a new Lana song on repeat like 150x in a row but I don't think this one will get that treatment

Also I can't understand like 80% of what she's even singing after the first verse... is it just me or

Ya the vocals are definitely the worst part of the song imo idk why she’s addicted to this style of mumble head voice singing :bebe:

I didn't realise how bad it was until I decided to listen Ocean Blvd while high. It was so uncomfortably apparent lol. BUT WE STILL LOVE HER FOR IT :bebe:
