i was ready to love this song even though i thought it was just gonna be an acoustic guitar song but this song is amazing. I love how it builds and how grand it feels her vocals are so clear they haven’t been this clear in the years

i dont know how to explain this but every time she puts out a new project, it sounds like her old self but with a new layer of reinvention.... it sounds like Chemtrails' folkish beginning, with the Paradise strings instrumental, the explosive and lush Born To Die (Summertime Sadness) pause to chorus, and the spoken words vibes from Blue Banisters (Text Book) and Tunnel (the Grants/Ocean Blvd) vocal takes as the outro :defeated: the way i thought it would have been a snoozefest and she provide me wrong again :defeated:

Now an album of this description would be perfection.. so you better be on the mark!

Deux questions from someone who waits until tomorrow

Spoiler

1. Does this song feel like a Southern Gothic song like idk in Ethel Cain-vein or is it just like a song in the alternative/Americana genre like Lanz has usually done

2. Are the strings loud like in idk Cola or Born To Die or are the strings more quiet like in Ocean Blvd and Violets For Roses?

Much better than expected, a dreamy country song with strings!! It makes you realise how much better her songs could be with more instrumentation and not just piano. It brings them alive.  Such a pity she won’t likely maintain this through the record.

I can't help but think that this song feels like the total opposite when it comes to A&W which was dark and angry and this is so light and happy... some things really do change in a day or even in an hour... :wubna:

Spoiler

1) honestly it’s pretty country! There is a twangy piano and guitar throughout the whole song. It really feels completely new for her, the minimal country sound in Chemtrails is fully realized and lyrically it’s brand new for her

2) the strings are loud loud and absolutely gorgeous
