Not sure what they can improve upon, since the original Carrie was pretty good. But I like Chloe Moretz, we'll see how she does. I'll definitely see it.

I watched Black Swan for the first time yesterday and understand the hype. I was pretty blown away.

I don't know I have a feeling I won't like it. Pretty much like every other remake.
I feel like it's going to be too "silly" and aimed towards a really young audience, but I could be wrong.
Okay, I don't know what I'm talking about lol
What are your thoughts?

Also, since you seem to know so much about movies, what do you suggest to someone who wants to start watching old movies/classics?

I watched Black Swan for the first time yesterday and understand the hype. I was pretty blown away.

I remember when I saw it for the first time I was in awe, I love this movie!

I love Black Swan - it's like The Red Shoes meets Repulsion. Portman and Kunis were spectacular in it.

Well, my top favorites are Rosemary's Baby and Repulsion. I love Polanski as a filmmaker. Though I haven't seen much of his stuff post-Chinatown to be honest.

Other film suggestions for someone trying to get into classics:
Anything by Hitchcock, Kubrick, Ingmar Bergman, Federico Fellini, Michael Powell, and Akira Kurosawa are good ways to get a start.

Some Hitchcock films I love:
- Vertigo
- Shadow of a Doubt
- Psycho
- Rear Window
- The Birds

And when I say anything by Kubrick, I really mean anything. His films are great, (some argue Eyes Wide Shut sucks, I don't think so at all)

Ingmar Bergman:
- The Silence
- The Virgin Spring

Michael Powell:
- The Red Shoes
- Peeping Tom (released the same year as Psycho but terribly overlooked)

If you want more films of a specific genre, let me know and I'll post some of my favorites from that genre.

I have never seen Carrie ever. Do not kill me. I will watch the remake though. I think Chloe will do a splendid job. Plus...she's a fan of Lana :)

II would say I'm a fan of movies or tv fanatic..I like to watch the actors or actresses, pay attention to the direction, the writing, the music..it's wonderful. I'm a huge fan of Independent movies especially Pariah, Buitiful, Shame, Precious, Black Swan, The Artist, Like Crazy.... errgg I can go on

Going to start going through all of my favorite actresses movies soon, since I haven't seen them all. This includes Mia Farrow, Elizabeth Taylor, and Vivien Leigh.. maybe Sissy Spacek, Sharon Tate, and Charlize Theron also but I'm sure this will all take a while!

I NEED TO SEE MORE MIA!! I've been delaying it for so long. Is the Gatsby movie good? Mia looks beautiful in it. Elizabeth Taylor is such an amazing actress; Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, and especially Suddenly Last Summer just blow me away. I'm curious to watch Cleopatra w/ Liz and then Cleopatra w/ Vivien and see who nailed it better. Sharon Tate is my life TBH, her performance in Valley of the Dolls was the only redeeming quality of that entire campy drama. Sissy I need to see more of also. I love Carrie and Badlands, so I'm sure I'll love other films with her in it. I haven't seen any of Charlize's films, what do you recommend of her?

Honestly, I've seen many of the Gatsby films and haven't liked any of them. It just isn't a story that translates well to film, in my opinion. Hmm I really loved Charlize in trapped, monster, north country, and young adult. some of her other stuff I'm not into, like the new snow white, although I did like her in it, she was bad ass :P
Valley of the dolls made me wanna be sharon tate

What's the last movie you watched that you loved? Finally watched east of eden.. in love with James Dean, for sure. Oh and dogfight<3

Ugh, not only is she a phenomenal actress, she's also fucking gorgeous and not a single person in Hollywood has a bad word to say about her, she's well-liked by everyone. IT'S NOT FAIR.

SHE IS LITERALLY FLAW-FREE.

The last movie I saw of Meryl's was a few years back, Doubt (2008). Has anyone else seen it?

EDIT: I'll have to come back to post a list of favourite movies O _ O

I haven't seen a lot of Meryl, I feel bad. I saw The Devil Wears Prada though and I enjoyed it, but I really need to see her other films which are probably much better.

Also, I updated the original post with a list of some films I like. I'll continually update it when more names pop into my head that I forgot, and probably next weekend I'll color code it with genres if you guys are looking for stuff in a specific genre. :)

I love that movie, her performance was absolutely flawless (well of course)
Last one I saw was The Iron Lady, had a heart attack when she won her 3rd Oscar for it

Also, who here loves Nicole Kidman? Imagine her as Faye Dunaway as Joan Crawford in Mommie Dearest, make her daughter Sissy Spacek from Badlands, and mix in a Shadow of a Doubt plot vibe and I'm pretty sure this is the result and I couldn't be more excited.
Since I might crap my pants in anticipation for THIS MOVIE:

Only won 3 out of 17 Oscar nominations SMH. I'm glad she finally won this year. It was so tough..I was worried..there was Rooney Mara's amazing performance as Lisbeth Salander (From reading the books, she was SPOT ON), Viola Davis as Aibileen from "The Help" (Also true to the book) and can't forget Michelle William's in My Week With Marilyn..AND Glenn Close! Sorry for rambling....

Meryl is my lifeee :legend: what are your favorite movies of her? (I know, this question is torture lol)

Yes it is torture. :defeated: I eenie meenie miney moe'd JULIE AND JULIA! okay.........and The Iron Lady...Doubt...Sophie's Choice...her stint on Web Therapy (I know that's not a movie but still)
