Lucky Ones is the best, obviously. You're all too delusional to understand. Simplistic yet visual and beautiful lyrics, gorgeous strings and instruments, and magnificent vocals; the best vocals on the album. Plus, THE FUCKING LOON IS IN THE SONG. THE AMAZING AUTO-TUNED LOON. The Loon itself is enough to slay basically any song on BTD. Combine the Loon with all the other wonderful aspects of the song, it's obviously the best.

Why do people always say this?! I don't get the logic behind this, the bonus tracks always end up being the best on the album. Va Va Voom from Minaj's Roman Reloaded, Phonography from Britney's Circus, Put Some Clothes On from Breathe Carolina's It's Classy, Not Classic, Get Back from Britney's Blackout, Disco Heaven from Gaga's The Fame, I could keep going forever. Bonus tracks are the best.

Laugh all you want, I know it's very disliked in this community, which proves my point that people simply can't handle perfection.

You don't have to agree. I like your opinion here though, it's well thought out. Here's mine: I don't like the way the album version is produced. I don't like the separation of the violin/strings/whatever in the right speaker, I don't like the cat noises, I hate the bass in it, it's all overly dramatic and annoying to me. I really dislike the way the piano sounds during the chorus while Lana sings "Audio-Tune lies, she's still shining." To me, the demo version is more haunting because less is going on, and I can pay more attention to the magnificent lyrics of that song, and her good vocal performance. The beat in the demo fits the lyrics so much better, and the song sounds so natural and well done. The album version sounds boxed in like most of the other songs on BTD.

    OMG JAKE I LOVE YOU.

Hey Video Games is a nice song, it's how I fell in love with Lana but it's not a strong song. It's what pulls you towards Lana but after you hear the rest of BtD, it comes off as very subpar, to me anyway.

I love Radio as a demo so much. I also just generally love the lyrics. Hey little bit of Lanalysis here, have you noticed differences in the lyrics for the studio and live versions of Radio?
    Studio:
Baby love me cause I'm playing on the radio

    Live:
[My] baby loves me cause I'm playing on the radio

It's really subtle but I've been thinking about it on and of for weeks and it's kind of like in the studio lyrics she's asking to be loved. However, in the live version to me it more implies she's only loved because of this which is kind of sadder. I have no idea why I typed all this now I kind of just remembered.

But anyway, which Carmen demo you prefer? The piano one or the a capella version?

I did a lot of digging today and finally managed to find a lot of interesting things that we didn't know about the May jailer- Lizzy Grant days from the old Myspace. It would be great if you guys appreciate this, it took forever to put together, haha. Most of this is information taken from pictures, they'll be at the end, and the picture containing whatever information will have the picture number next to it in parentheses except performance dates, there are way too many to put with pictures, ask if you need the pictures for the performance dates and I'll PM them. The pictures are out of order by date though. It's all between 2006 and 2010.

Praise the Good Lord for this interview, now desperate Gaga fans will be forced to stfu about Lana featuring on ARTPOP. What a cute interview though! I am very interested in which month brought about which songs, and whether or not she spent an entire month trying to write a song, failing, and saying, "Fuck it, I'll just redo Yayo and try again next month."

Thanks for posting the interview, TPD.

It's kind of an extreme invasion of privacy, moreso than normally acceptable. You'd be able to find her friends & family there, and who's to say someone wouldn't use that information in a bad way? That could lead to problems for people close to Lana. I know you weren't implying this, but I just want to say it anyway; She is a person, no matter how famous, and deserves privacy just like everyone else. I agree with the other mods in that active personal accounts being posted is not okay. I hope I worded all that well.

I think this has merits as its own more-general thread, for those of us who want to discuss possible meanings that aren't so intertwined with Lana/Lizzy's real-life relationships.

I think Raise Me Up is about the ghost of a woman who died at the hand of (a) either her lover or herself, (b) either deliberately or by accident. She was not fond of his mama. And now she's back to haunt him.

  23. Hundred Dollar Bill liked a post in a topic by Sitar in LANALYSIS: Relating Songs To Known/Assumed Relationships
I respect your opinions but I can't help but immediately refute them:
    1. Just because she only explicitly names one guy, first and surname, in all the songs she's written doesn't mean she isn't writing about others. LBR, try rhyming something with "Mizrahi". I will point out that she qualified VG, BTD, and BJ as a trilogy, but not a trilogy about the same man. There's a rather lengthy post within expanding on that, if you're open to giving it a look.
    2. She's said a lot of damn things, to be honest. The count goes up to two when you consider that she also said "Video Games" is about two different guys. And while "Blue Jeans" may be vague in it's criminal references, Sirens certainly isn't, although I'm interested in hearing you explain how "Now he's in a jail cell for some thirty years now / Is this what you wished, to be serving time?", "K's a friend of mine, I think about him as he does time", and "Last year they decided that his time was up and he got re-tried / Double homicide / Now he's onto death row, not to hang around, though / Is this what you wished, did you wanna die?" are some grand metaphors for Jimmy.

I would say that Jimmy was an important guy. But I think they all were--at least, K, Mike, and Jimmy. I'd even agree that a lot of Born to Die is likely about him, but to discredit her long-term relationship with Mike and some glaring, obvious references to prison that totally avoid any subtlety at all just because something she said in an interview is not so wise in these analyses.

And I absolutely refuse to incite a race war in this thread, those posts were the epitome of harmless speculation.
