Here's where I ended up. the toughest choice for me was Norman vs The Greatest. If I had to narrow it down further, FIILY would probably win.. but I sorta feel like Norman/The Greatest and Fuck It are a three-way tie for me right now. don't know why the image got posted so small... ???

autotune has nothing to do with how she used to sing in her lower register, and now she rarely does. It seems like the more nose/bridge and cheek fillers leads to higher vocals.

I agree. I'd also add Solar Twin, very much a male Lana vibe, at least earlier Lana. St. Vincent would be cool too. And being that Ride is one of my all-time favorite things Lana's done, I'd love to see her do a full album with Rick Rubin, since that's the only song they ever did together.

sorry, i know this keeps getting asked... but the link i had been using is dead now .... anyone have a NFR song previews link handy? it's been a few days since I've heard them, and I'm jonesing.

Side note - is it an unpopular opinion that I think Lust for Life is Lana's best produced (best sounding) album? It's not her best songwriting by a long shot (other than Heroin and In My Feelings) but to my ears everything sounds pretty dang flawless. I always love the hip hop element with Lana's music, and (other than Doin' Time) it really seems to be missing in this era.

Yeah, I've been having that thought with all the Jack-produced songs from this era so far. Makes me wonder if that is more Lana's direction though, because Jack has obviously had a bunch of hits with other big artists - but all of these Lana songs feel super undercooked, and not much dynamic or punch. I never liked Sublime so I kinda hate that Lana's cover of Doin' Time is my favorite thing of the era, but it's the best sounding song of the era (and Jack didn't do it).

it's funny i haven't liked any of the singles of this era, but I still can't wait for the album. Lana really worked her black magik on us, didn't she?
