  1. My top 3 most played albums this year would be 1. Purple Mountains 2. Weyes Blood 3. Tanya Montana Coe
  2. My feeling is that Lana and team were planning on doing the 3 video release when they still thought NFR would be a more low key release. When it started getting so much good press, and Grammy buzz, I get the feeling Lana and her team we're like "let's just ride this wave, and not rock the boat by putting out these low budget iphone vids." Just a hunch.
  3. I was there too, and I think your assessment is spot on. Her voice was super strong for the more stripped down first 3 songs, but then it went into guests and tracks and ended up, over-all, just being an *okay* show, at best. I'll never understand her putting 3 of her best songs (Ride, Black Beauty, Young and Beautiful) into a medley, while doing a full rendition of Joni MItchell every night.
  4. Does Lana still post on her Honeymoon insta account? Do her posts get shared here? I was following that account when she first started it. Unfollowed it a couple years ago when it seemed that it was dormant, but since then it's become a private account and it doesn't seem that she's adding anyone. Can anyone fill me in. Is it more of a personal account for her now? Is it a totally dead account? Or if she's still using it, where can we find the content? Thanks in advance!
  5. Lana tweeted this picture of Tanya Montana Coe at her shop Goodbuy Girls in Nashville. Tanya is a great singer-songwriter as well. tanyamontanacoe.com
  6. Really hope Rick Nowels and/or Justin Parker get involved in the writing of this album. I need some new songs with epic bridges.
  7. ummm... the Paradise era was clearly the best. Ride, Blue Velvet, (bonus track/video) Burning Desire + TROPICO (Body Electric, Gods & Monsters, Bel Air) makes 6 videos for that era. And between Ride and Tropico these videos were coming straight from Lana's creative vision. No lazy iphone videos. These were top notch visionary. I'd love to see her top this era someday, but it's feeling less and less likely as the years go by.

  9. I saw her at the Ryman in 2014, and then at Bridgestone in 2017. But I don't think i'll be able to make this one. Just found out a friend of mine got me tickets! I'll get to keep my Nashville perfect attendance record.
  10. Born To Die - 7.5/10 Paradise - 9/10 Ultraviolence - 9/10 Honeymoon - 9/10 Lust For Life - 6/10 Norman Fucking Rockwell! - 5/10
  11. Found these with Pat Del Rey. They're not super current, but it shows at least they were able to hang out casually in 2014-2015. Maybe the mom is just super shy. She looks exactly like Chuck. And Lana really took after her father, before she got her nose and lips and cheeks done.
  12. https://lanadelrey.fandom.com/wiki/Patricia_Grant Don't know how old or out of date this info may be, but it says "[Patricia Hill-Grant] currently lives in Lake Placid, New York with her husband. They have remained out of the spotlight of Del Rey's career but often travel with her on tour." But we see her dad all the time in photos, etc. But never her mom. Sounds like there's more to this story...
  13. So what do we know about Lana's mom? I never heard or seen a peep about her. Clearly she's not in the picture anymore? Parents divorced? Lana is estranged from her? It's just hitting me now that somehow Lana's been completely silent about her mom. Or has she?
  14. I used to listen to Lana pretty much every day. But my apathy for this new record unfortunately has given me apathy for her in general. Whenever I listen to the older stuff, I still like it, but now I only listen to her maybe once a week. Really hoping I dig her next album, coz Honeymoon was the last record I really loved, and after L4L and NFR, I don't think my fandom could take another let down.
  15. Is it an optical illusion or does that photo of her on the counter look like she has a new tattoo on the inside of her right ring finger?
  16. Do all of you that are worried about her at this festival not realize there is alcohol at every show and festival that she plays? Literally everywhere she goes. As a recovering alcoholic myself, I am thankfully in a place with my recovery that I can go anywhere now and it's not a temptation. I don't want to go back to where I was before. And Lana's been sober much longer than me. And yes, as it was mentioned Barrie drank (and apparently was addicted to heroin) when they were together. NBD. But also - not into this cop she's dating, I wish I could just say if she's happy that's cool, but it's hard to say that haha.
  17. At least her church going hasn't crept into her music yet. But makes me a lil nervous for the next album.
  18. 1 Paradise 2 Ultraviolence 3 Honeymoon 4 Born to Die 5 Lust for Life 6 NFR
  19. Her part is great. Wish it didn't have all that cheese ball Ari and Miley garbage connected to it. i like how there's always a thread through Lana's work. She says "county line" again, like in 13 Beaches. I'm ready for the remix edit with Lana's part looped for 4 minutes.
  20. I agree with most of what is said here... but another thing to take into account is what Lana herself has said about her last two albums. When promoting Lust for Life she said she made it "for the fans"... as in, she didn't make it for herself as had always been the case with her previous work. I think that was a clear line drawn in the sand. Prior to Lust for Life, I believe she was making the music she was truly inspired to make. And now with this latest one, she's mentioned in every interview that when Jack Antonoff first approached her she wasn't in a writing mood, and had no desire to make an album. Of course, she also says that "his chords" got her writing again immediately... but it's not hard to read between the lines that these last two albums are not albums that she went into with the same passion or inspiration as her earlier albums. And I think most discerning fans, who have followed her career since the beginning, can tell.
  21. 100%. I want to be supporting her as much as I can, because her earlier records mean so much to me, but I can barely get through one song on her new album before I'm ready to listen to something else. Very few of the lyrics or melodies stick with me. I can't even remember how California or Love Song sound like even though I've listened to them at least 7 or 8 times now.
  22. the clip Lana shared the other day of the Norman vid looked great. Much higher quality and concept than the random footage of Venice Bitch or Mariners. Looking forward to seeing how this ends up.
  23. There is so much hate for the percussion on How to Disappear. I haven't seen anyone mention this yet - so let me share some music history perspective on the "jingle bells" that might help you all have less of a problem with them. First of all, they are called "sleigh bells" by musicians, and they were a big trademark of Brian Wilson's mid-60s Beach Boys productions. He used them the way other producers would use tambourines, and they always added a distinctive sparkle to the Beach Boys. You can hear them most famously on God Only Knows from Pet Sounds. So over the last 50 years when another artist uses sleigh bells (outside of a Christmas song) it's 9 times out of 10 in an effort to reference/pay tribute to Brian Wilson/Pet Sounds. Being that Lana is always finding new ways to reference California, Laurel Canyon, the 60s, Beach Boys this makes perfect sense.
