Ride is one of my all-time favorite songs of Lana's, and it's her only song produced by Rick Rubin. I've never seen Lana or Rick talk much about the experience. Does anyone here know more about their session(s)? Could anyone point me to a resource with more info? So curious if they recorded more. Or if he had been approached to produce all of Paradise, but maybe the working relationship wasn't good? Would love anyone to point me to interviews, articles etc that explore this. I'm a pretty deep fan, and think I've read most of the interviews out there, but this subject is still such a mystery to me.

Gotta say - the choreography has come a long way. Loving the new 2018 moves. On top of the piano for White Mustang, Pretty When I Cry laying on her back. I feel like it's all finally starting to work. And this move makes me feel things http://www.lanadelreyfan.com/gallery/albums/userpics/10012/29714612_124787695034557_8896725862594904064_n.jpg

Which Lana songs do you relate to the the most?
ParadiseFreak replied to latothemoon's topic in Lana Thoughts
Top 5 most-relatable to me (at least rn): 1 Ride ("I've got a war in my mind") 2 In My Feelings ("If you were me, and I was you/I'd get out of my way") 3 God's & Monsters ("Fuck yeah give it to me, this is heaven, what I truly want/It's innocence lost") 4 Black Beauty ("Ohhhhh, what can I do? Life is beautiful, But you don't have a clue") 5 Heroin ("I want to leave, I'll probably stay another year") -
In your opinion, what is the best era?
ParadiseFreak replied to Doll Harlow's topic in Lana Thoughts
The "Paradise" era, which includes Tropico was her strongest era of vision IMO. 70% of BTD is amazing, as well as Ultraviolence... but all of Paradise was top notch. It's unfortunate, in a way, that it got lumped in with the BTD era because to me it's a fully unique listening experience. Deeper than most of the BTD songs, and produced much better than either BTD or Ultraviolence. And after doing Tropico, her visual output has been increasingly lazy and boring. And I have to add, I think she looked the best in this era also -
Very Twin Peaks-y https://open.spotify.com/track/1R401t4VpBgUk0UbSxaDeJ

Lust For Life - Post-Release Discussion Thread + Poll
ParadiseFreak replied to Elle's topic in Post-Release Threads
I was pretty let down with the album on the first couple listens. but then I created a playlist cutting out the songs I didn't like, and listening to the album this way, I think it stands up to some of her best work. It's still 10 songs (more than Paradise - which is my favorite). Here's my playlist: 1. 13 Beaches 2. Cherry 3. White Mustang 4. Summer Bummer 5. Groupie Love 6. In My Feelings 7. Beautiful People Beautiful Problems 8. Tomorrow Never Came 9. Heroin 10. Change -
Your favorite song from Lust for Life (POLL)
ParadiseFreak replied to Lotus's topic in Lana Thoughts
I was pretty disappointed with the album on the first couple listens. But now I've created a 10 song playlist of my favorites, and it's a great album haha. The songs I didn't like were weighing the whole thing down for me... Here's my 10 song version that makes it a perfect album IMO 1. 13 Beaches 2. Cherry 3. White Mustang 4. Summer Bummer 5. Groupie Love 6. In My Feelings 7. Beautiful People Beautiful Problems 8. Tomorrow Never Came 9. Heroin 10. Change -
Just came across this Lust for Life blog review... I agree with a lot of this... https://heavyreverie.wordpress.com/2017/07/24/first-impressions-lana-del-reys-lust-for-life/

"Also, since I'm on the topic of MV's, I can't stand watching Freak just knowing it was the original UV video. Like, no matter how much editing goes in, it will always fit UV better. I wish somehow, all the recording done for it or just the video itself (if it was edited) would leak. Only in my dreams." Where did you hear the Freak video was meant for Ultraviolence? There is a video from Ultraviolence, did she shoot a 2nd one? And then wait to use it for Freak? Sounds pretty unlikely to me.

Not sure how "unpopular" this opinion is - but I think the best thing Lana's done is Paradise. I feel like her songwriting, singing, the production, and the overall tone has never been matched before or since. Songs like Ride, Cola, Gods and Monsters, Body Electric.... unbeatable.

Lana at Beats 1 in Los Angeles, CA - July 12, 2017
ParadiseFreak replied to Elle's topic in Sightings
The verse melody to Groupie Love is almost identical to Best American Record.... but not as good Interesting that the Target version of the album will have both songs on it, because it sounds to me like Groupe Love was a re-write of BAR. And they both sound kinda like Oasis' Talk Tonight -
‘Target’ Edition to feature Best American Record and Yosemite. http://lanadelreyfan.com/listen-to-two-new-lana-del-rey-songs-ft-aap-rocky/

Does anyone else feel like Lana's choreography, and backup singer/dancers just feel awkward? Lana moves likes she's embarrassed. Wish she would just go back to standing there. It felt more honest.
