okay but has NK ever teased an album campaign he’s shot like this before? he was also very excited about the Weyes Blood album but he seems very excited which also means very proud of whatever he did for LDR9… cannot believe that a week from today we will have the album cover, name, probably tracklist, and maybe even the album possibly

yeahhh but we were debating that he could’ve re-used old photos for the new album because he used some older 2015 pictures for the Lust for Life booklet. but i think that’s out of the picture now this time around. idek if it would be legal to use those pictures across two big campaigns

wait i just accidentally discovered something… doesn’t look like the flowers neil posted have anything to do with lana’s project, even the possibility that they’re old photos being reused. another artist named Chad Lawson who is signed to Universal Music (so you know he is a big deal) has used those same Neil photos for his literal album artwork: because he‘s signed to a major that means he definitely got permission from Neil to use those pictures for his own releases, and it would be quite odd for the same photos to be re-used with a different musician i think so visuals for this era are still a complete mystery!!

the way i got this idea when Mitski was selling “mystery shirts” on her merch store last year and i thought that the shirts would reveal the album cover or track listing or something on them but it was just a random photo

lana would never care enough to do this at this point in her career but i’m a dreamer i dream a lot so just wishfully… i’ve always wanted an artist to reveal an album cover through a literal puzzle. like put up a mysterious 1000pc puzzle on their merch store with no context of what it is, and then it’s sent to fans who take the risk on buying it and it turns out to be the album cover. again lana would never do this but in general i think that would be such a fucking cool idea and it’s unmarked and everything so when it comes and you’re putting it together you don’t even have a reference photo or anything like you have to WORK for it. i love immersive stuff like that

that was my thought, either he chose a random photo to announce because he can’t post anything from the actual campaign yet orrrr this is a LFL situation again and this old photo was edited to match the theme of this era

god every time i see this photo i get chills. i really love the UV cover and i wouldn’t change it but this picture deserved so much more than the back cover of the UO edition

i really don’t think lana and chuck would tease lana’s music under their friend’s birthday post i think it’s just an inside joke between the three 😭

okay neil using that pic from 2017 to talk about his excitement for new work next week is kind of weird but also the LFL flowers pic was taken in 2015 for Honeymoon originally, but then color graded differently to later be used in the Lust for Life campaign and match everything else from that era so this has happened before

oh yes this is what i was thinking of! for some reason in my memory i thought it was written on a whiteboard actually in the studio while they were working on the album and jack posted it

i’m pretty sure LYTAN was on the Chemtrails track list at one point and either lana or one of her collaborators posted a pic in the studio with the scratch track listing in the back and that song was on there and that’s how we know of its existence but it’s still so mysterious i kind of hate it 😭

really hoping LYTAN now is on the album just because i hate having lore that lasts for years for songs we don’t even have snippets of. it’s like Yosemite again

it’s the fact that every 2 albums is one of her true masterpieces… Born to Die -> Paradise -> Ultraviolence -> Honeymoon -> Lust for Life -> NFR -> Chemtrails -> Blue Banisters -> LDR9 she’s coming also controversial opinion but AKA is my third favorite lana album after UV and NFR and also fits into this pattern

i am just so happy this has been such an amazing week and i really wasn’t expecting any news until january/february at the absolute earliest. and even though i didn’t like BB i still have the gut feeling that this upcoming album is going to be her magnum opus and her best most career defining work idk why but i just feel that way and now the neil photos are looking cunty and amazing too. i am so happy

idk why but based on that picture i’m kind of imagining lana lying in a bed of flowers. watch it’s gonna be the most beautiful photo we’ve ever seen in our life and then it’s gonna be the Target cover 🪦
