my problem with him is that he doesn’t even try to understand the art that he initially dislikes, like he’ll listen to something once and then immediately walk out of it with a set opinion without listening again, without starting a discussion about what the artist was going for, without contemplating where the music came from. he listens to a song and he likes it or he doesn’t like it, which is fine when you’re just a normal music listener, but when your job is being a critic, it does have to be a lot deeper than that. he needs to learn that just because you don’t understand something doesn’t mean it’s objectively bad; i think professional music critique should be less about personal taste and more about the intent and execution of the artist, even if it’s not your personal cup of tea

i just went back and watched that video and it’s so much weirder and more ominous than i remember lmfao she had to be on something

idk i mean i would definitely classify it as music, it’s just a different kind of music. in my head violet is still just kind of separated from the rest of her discography so the upcoming album still feels like LDR9 to me, but with the logic that spoken word over instrumentals isn’t music, then what is ambient music? hell what is rap music? lana is proud enough of violet to consider it a studio album, so even if we don’t necessarily agree with that or think of the album in that way, i don’t think it’s fair to say that she can’t choose where it sits in her own discography

exactly, that’s why i don’t think she’s coming before the end of 2022… literally nobody releases the week of thanksgiving or the last 2 weeks of the year, which gives us about a 3 week window for her to put something out if she’s coming before 2023. if she is releasing soon i think the second week of next year would be a lot more realistic

besides the born to die title track, has lana ever released music in december that wasn’t for a movie? for some reason if she ever has it’s slipping my mind, but other than BTD and Big Eyes i don’t think she’s put music any other music out so close to the end of the year

idk i guess he is one in some ways but i don’t think he would ever actually share big information, i think that would be kind of a betrayal of BOZ if they are friends because he could risk getting both of them in trouble. he was just tweeting unreleased lyrics in portuguese for his 200 followers but i don’t think it was ever gonna go further than that even if we never found out about it

based on the translation it really seems like he is just BOZ’s good friend and BOZ sends him unreleased music/tells him info which is how he knows what he does, so he’s probably legit but not really an “insider”, just a friend of one

Tbh if the album campaign hasn’t been photographed yet and with how long it takes to press vinyl these days, the album is probably coming in May-July next year unless it’s a digital release first. takes about 5 months for vinyl production. for reference, the Weyes Blood campaign that Neil did for her album that came out yesterday was shot in June

I loveee lana’s long titles, lmfao this is gonna be a hot take but sometimes i wish that Hope… was still called Sylvia and the whole album title was Hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have but I have it, I feel like that’s the thesis state of the entire album and even though it’s kind of pretentious it is also iconic plus i feel like it would’ve just been really cute for that long ass title to also be the closing lyrics of the album
