exactly this is what i’m trying to say like it feels like people automatically think all piano songs are boring because there were a few boring ballads on recent albums but there is sooo much you can do with it and so much land she hasn’t explored. but considering there have been piano ballads on every album for the last almost 6 years i feel like people are setting themselves up to be disappointed by having a bias going into the new music ready to dislike any piano song

piano discourse again i’ve said this a lot before, but y’all have to know deep down that the piano isn’t going anywhere. we all heard the Rockefeller snippet. it’s just that the piano compositions need to be more interesting, we can’t have more Violets for Roses and Beautifuls. but the fact that she’s working with jazz musicians like Jon Batiste who can help breathe some new fresh life into her chords and arrangements besides just standard pop progressions and scales is very exciting

it seems like this album will have a variety of producers including Jack, and i’m really interested in hearing how those songs will blend together, because I’ve noticed that Jack has such a distinctive production style that his songs often sound out of place or oddly not cohesive on albums that aren’t mostly produced by him, and other producer’s songs sound out of place and not cohesive on albums that Jack has done most of the work on. NFR is actually one example of this lol, The Next Best American Record, Doin Time, and Bartender feel so separated from the universe that everything else is in imo. and that was actually one issue I had with fans combining Chemtrails and Blue Banisters, because what the hell, the styles on both of those albums are soooo apparently and dramatically different but albums like folklore have still successfully made the Jack + another producer combination work, so it’s definitely possible. i am so excited

i’m hoping for a quick turnaround time from announcement to album like the 4 weeks between NFR announcement and release… January 6th would be perfect 😭 edit: wait… January 13th

i would actually really love lana to cover Nilsson but Coconut would just be an odd choice she would do great justice to Gotta Get Up, Without You, The Moonbeam Song, All I Think About Is You, etc etc. Coconut is just an awful song though 😭😭

i would lowkey be disappointed if the visuals for this era were yet again another beachy aesthetic we already have UV, NFR, and lowkey Honeymoon too… it would be nice to see a new direction also anyone covering Coconut would be odd that song is very weird at least by today’s musical standards
