haha I thought about this before when I saw a magazine article that described "Lana Del Rey" as a creation thought up by Lizzy Grant and that the whole hollywood sad 2 d core ~shy~ girl/nervous on the stage bit was a concept created by industry people and lana herself 2 appeal 2 a certain audience.  I mean you think of it- she has all these different facets and the fact that she was trying to choose between Lana Del Rey and Lana Rey Del Mar and using multiple myspaces (possibly at the same time??) for these different names with arguably different ~personalities~.. I mean she's had so many other stage names she's tried. And we've already discussed how she may have had the Interscope record deal for longer than people think.. possibly thinking of how to market her- she's not theatrical in the Gaga way, she's not bubblegum pop like Britney. I do wonder about her relationship with Van Wilson- if something bad happened- I've thought that he could be behind the meaning of 'Noir' - he was A&R for her at one point- maybe his idea for her career and image was different from hers?

"it's real and it's fake.. the good stuff included" - lana del rey (completely butchered this quote, but it's something along these lines)
Blurring the lines between real and the fake.

It makes me think back to a comment written by one of her old producers, I believe it was. How one day she was Lizzy Grant (May Jailer) singing folks-esque tunes with her acoustic guitar and the next thing he knew she had cut her hair real short and had completely changed her sound. V Interesting stuff

Also, Lana and Reeve seem to be on really good terms. There was the nice tweet they shared and someone asked her in an interview from 2011 who would be her Lee Hazelwood to her Nancy Sinatra, and  she said "Reeve Carney" And Chuck has been hanging out w/ him. Also, he was supposed to or is playing Jeff Buckley in a biopic. I read another artist's blog who was deeply affected by JB's music, and talked about how Lizzy Grant really loved him too.  Jimmy Gnecco was good friends with JB, shortly before he died.

Hmm okay, gather round children, Ata is gonna tell a story.

Tickets were on sale at 9am and I had a tute at 8 till 9. From 8:50 onwards I was refreshing the page and my heart was going so fast I was 60% sure I would pass out or vomit or both. My tutor kept asking me questions and I was like "umm.. uhh................. i didn't do the readings idk" even though I did but goddamn i was not going to miss tickets. So it got to 9 and in a shakey flurry i keyed in credit card details then sat in the hall way hyperventilating because I had tickets. I made an obligatory facebook status and texted 4 people. Then chain smoked until my next lecture.

Skip ahead to the actual concert.

My friends and I got there 2 hours early and there were already 10 or so people in line. Doors opened and we were centre, second row. SO CLOSE 2 THE STAGE. This guy, Oliver Tank opened and his set was sick. My friend and I were like cause the bass was so loud it felt like your heart was vibrating. After standing around for 2 hours Lana came on stage and a swell of hipsters pushed up against me and i was forced up against more hipsters who were all screaming/crying. The set was amazing, when she played Video Games she came off the stage and mingled with the crowd, HOLDING MY HAND in the process. Shit was so cash.

    Cut to end of show

Friends and I sit on some seats outside parliament house and have a smoke. We're just kind of blubbering about how happy we are and we hear some fangirls screaming and we're like "typical fangirls, w/e" then we hear it again. I'm like "mike pls check this out" and he reluctantly walks to look down the alley. After 20 seconds he turns around and is like ".... I think Lana's there..." we fucking grab our shit and SPRINT down this cobblestone alley. I'm in heels and I'm terrified that I'm going to fall and break my ankle but am too excited to care. Lo and behold, Lana is there surrounded by a small group of people. We stand around anxiously and I literally have no idea how long we were out there it could've been anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour. She gets to my group of friends and we talk, I whisper something to her which I haven't told anyone about because I'm really fond of the idea of having a lana del secret, we hug, kiss cheeks and take photos. Then I go home and roll around on the floor for the next 2 hours going OHHHHHHH GOD. End.

I bet Rob & Chuck regularly rock the fuck out on 4 hand piano, tearing up the living room and setting it on fire, while Lana is off in a corner being all doom & gloom and giving Momma Grant headache after headache in typical oldest child fashion. I think For K part 1 and 2, Gangsta Boy , Oh Can You See, You & Me , Dark Paradise, Whithout You, Blue Jeans (BJ I think is about K and someone else) and Summertime Sadness are all about the same guy and related one to another. I would put Born To Die in the mix but I also think BTD is more about her alcoholism than K itself. Her songs are a chronology, prequel and sequels, about her life and sometimes out of order. Also I think the songs Lana mentions in her own songs are connected to her song and are not random. For K for obvious reasons is about K Iol. In K part 1 and 2 she describes their relantionship and why they are not together anymore. In Gangsta Boy she also talks about the relationship. She mentions High school and summer (as summer holidays). She doesn’t have yet summertime sadness. The difference between how she sees summer maybe is related 2 that fact (K’s death). Lana was sent to boarding school at 14 so the time she got to go home for a extended period of time was during holidays, summertime. Also has 2 lines in the lyrics that connect this song to Whithout You (Gangsta Boy - I could have it all,But it means nothing without you). Lana mentions Come as You Are in OCYS and I think Come as You Are lyrics are complementary to OCYS. Both relate to memory. ‘Come as a friend, as an old enemy, as a memory. " says in come as you are. Her honor to lost love in part has a lot to do with memory a never forget even in a million years kind of thing. I put under the spoiler what I connect when I hear her songs. I have read a lot the Lnalysis tread but not all. So if somehow is repeating something I apologize.

I assume 5 things in my analysis:
    K is dead
Lana uses terms, expressions, songs, words to describe behaviors, patterns, situations, terms feelings and memory. Words like Nirvana, heaven, Summertime, born, die, miss américa, K-mart, américas sweet heart. They all mean more than just the simple combination of words.
    Lana believes in another life.
I think the songs she mentions in her own songs are actually relate or somewhat a part of her song. Like Come as you are or Take a walk on the wild side
Lana repeats words and versus relating her songs one to another

Also anyone notice that she mentions K-Mart some times and the word smart? sMARt. For K....mart? Maybe K-Mart is a place where she and K used to go?
PS: this can also be a bunch of BS that goes through my head and makes absolute no sense to anyone else. Who knows?

I think it's her choice. She is on Twitter and she DMs fans she's met. I'm guessing the Twilight trio has millions and millions of fans and none of them are on Twitter or Facebook just because they don't want to. I would love Lana to just tweet something sassy once in a while like she did two-three years ago, she can't tweet millions of fans.

I took the time to read the entire original post and I think I got the gist of the imagery of each boyfriend in a song, so I've been speculating about AKA Lizzy Grant, because at the moment, it's my favorite Lana album, and I also think it's the most telling. I'm gonna try to categorize each song with a man previously in her life and if my little bits of evidence are wrong, please try to help so I can better understand it!

  15. PolaroidFrown liked a post in a topic by evilentity in No American Tour?
I agree that it may not have been necessary to create another thread about this issue, but the complaints are not without good reason. America is her home country and a major theme in her music. Yet it feels as if she is snubbing her American fans and punishing them for the (sometimes, but not always unfair) treatment she received in the American music press. Granted, she is not as popular here relative to other artists as elsewhere, but in terms of total sales, the US has got to be one of her biggest markets. It has a population of over 300 million people. Imagine you were as big of a fan of a German artist who rarely ever performed in Germany, or even anywhere in Western Europe, but played shows all the time all over the United States. Now let's also imagine that they are less popular in Germany than elsewhere, but that there was still more than enough demand to justify a German tour and that their decision not to tour Germany probably didn't even make sense strictly from a financial perspective. I doubt you would find complaints about that as irritating.

Frankly, I'm getting tired of non-American fans complaining about what I think is a pretty fair complaint.

Actually, I've seen UK fans complain just as much about there not being MOAR UK dates, even though they've had the most opportunities to see her of anybody. And a lot of the complaints from Americans have been in response to people from other countries complaining about her not touring their country enough.

Lana I've read that you said of that remake album "it's me without makup"
    Why ?
I didn't said that but its a good phrase. It's not me, its always me with makeup but thats beautifuller than me with a makeup that I create myself.

    Why?
Because it seems me more natural and I'm feeling good with it, just like driving to Santa Monica. I could registrate all my songs in one time and let them in studio and let saying me that's is good there is nothing to change. Then I would say yes, i adore, more than the original.

Why calling this album the remake of "The Paradise Edition" ?
I beclieve in the beauty and in the power of the strong deads. I love the word "Paradise", I tatoed it"

You tatoed the word paradise ?
Yes I have one. I love the words like "paradise", "heaven". The words who have a sence, who want say much. Lana Del Rey, I like just it sounds. I like the words "tropico", "exotic".

In the song "Body Electric", you are saying Elvis is my dad and Marilyin is my mother. Now you are a icone, a star. How do you live beeing a such big star daily.
I'm feeling so in France of in London. In the United-States, its totally different. You laughing? The United-States doen't respect me , they aren't hearing my music there.

    Why?
I dont know, it's not my point of view. It's the truth. The France saved my disk, London has saved my disk, Brasil. I want say that the people are thinking here my music is more interesting but elsewhere they're thinking it's not good. I dont feel like a icone, i'm worring about my songs future, what they will become.

Lana you are a star, we have seen a lot of things about you this year, especially this rumor : you gonna stop with music. Is it right of wrong ?
So, when the people are interviewing me, they push me always to say : " do you gonna be stopping to sing! All the world think that you have a lot of critisms. So do you gonna be stop with singing?" I want say, the people did't stopped to ask me this and I answer simply, I don't know. Maybe ?"

Then it could become maybe be a no ?
Yes, maybe it become a no. The journalistes are also artistes for themselves, it's not interesting to say the truth. They want telling stories, they want to create an image with informations they have I think it's important, I want say as a humen. It's so like we had the intuition to create an artistic work during the life. And I think that when the puplic isn't interested of that, it's better to keep it private for yourself, so it didn't touch you personal relations. Bacause when you feel that someone like what you do, it's ruin you relations with people who are closely to you because you have the impression that nobody want beeing witness of your life.

We have loved you here, Lana.

Lana, I want to know, you favourites in the music, what is it?
I had the best proffessors, I heard all the big masters : Jeff Buckley is my favourite, Jim Morrison des Doors, Kurt Cobain is my biggest inspiration.

About Jim Morrison, you have the same passion for Los Angeles, for the district of Laurel Canyon who descend up to the Santa Monica Boulevard. Is it the coolest place for you, the most inspirant ?
Hum, it's one of my good moments in the evening, driving with a open roof, thinking about all the words I want to write. I'm feeling excited when I am there alone on the road and my imagination is so big like the sky. But I like to live in Paris in fact. I was passionated of New York, I lived 10 years. I dont want to sing there, I'm feeling good where I am acceptet, I'm feeling good here.

So when we want to see you in Paris, we need to pick a car to see you driving on the Champs Elysées, is it?
(laughing) Yes, I were singing, close to the water. "Non rien de rien" (laughing).

Lana, the best out of the cinema for you. I read that you like it to watch films ten times in a row.
    Is it weird?
    Yes...

    So like a child ?
No, so like a student. The best students are probably the most childs of us.

And you like "Le Parrain", is it? What are the other films that you could watch ten times of fifteen times in a row?
Yes I like "American Beauty", "Don't look back" who follows Bob Dylan of his tour in the 60'. I like "Girl interrupted".

Ah, so no films of the french cinema ? In revenge the french artists who you like particulary, except Edith Piaf that you are singing in the moment?
Yes but just the very popular. I like much Serge Gainsbourg and, Leonard Cohen is not french but I think of him when I'm thinking of the France. And generally also when I love the music, and also when I am inspired a lot of the music, I am the most influented of the powerful images. I like the idea of Paris, that will say the same thing what America was : romantic, free. So the images can be very powerful.

I mean, I get what you're saying, she definitely comes across as a ~guy's girl~ but she has a lot of girlfriends too- chuck, jaime, naomi, wendy, etc. Who cares if he is boring, though?? I mean if he makes her happy that's all that matters and according to her lyrics, she's been with a lot of interesting guys and they've maybe not treated her as nicely. apparently, barrie is really ...charasmatic..he's just painfully shy.

i don't really get why people are here if they're uncomfortable speculating about lana's personal life tbh. her music is pretty personal so lanalysis of her relationships is a relevant form of discussion. there's only so much you can say about lana's music before you have to relate it back to her life to find meaning.
