Lmao everyone on Twitter are praising the song while we all here are hating it.
That's cus lanaboards has taste
Literally though, I do personally think lanaboards has great taste and can actually go deeper into music rather than just taking it by face value
-
I'm listening to it a second time, and I am actually so bored at just halfway though that I'm gonna stop listening to it
-
geez that was... I could barely even hear her.
Oh well, I guess in a way it could be a good thing that Lana barely features on it as now we can basically ignore it!

Oh come on, not when your sig is Marina & the Diamonds "Homewrecker"
lmaooooo what a burn. Homewrecker keeps on being 100 better than Summer Bummer tho!
Not siding with anyone here but just offering my humble opinion -
Although I enjoy Summer Bummer, I prefer Homewrecker as it fits in with a more cohesive album and persona as Electra Heart. I think it tells more of a story within the song than Summer Bummer, and adds to the story of the album as a whole in a way which I feel Summer Bummer doesn't with Lust For Life. (But don't get me wrong - I love a bit of Summer Bummer, but I just feel Homewrecker has more to it)

Does anyone here have the black hoodie? I ordered a large bc I hate sweaters/jackets being small on me and I'd rather it be too big but now I'm worried it might be WAY too big if someone can give me a better idea of the sizing that would be gr8
I ordered the black hoodie, and as it's unisex I assumed that sizing may be slightly bigger for girls and smaller for guys! Although we'll know for sure when it eventually arrives
Also is that Rilakumma in your profile photo?

You had my caged up like a bird in mid-summer
You saw me waiting
I was crazy, on fire, waiting to fly
I can fly
Such an amazing way to describe freedom

So I realized the nerdiest shit ever here we go
in Get Free, when Lana sings "I'm crossing the threshold from the ordinary world to the reveal of my heart", she's literally referring to the character arch of a heroic character in literature/fantasy as written by joseph campbell
Joseph Campbell was one of the forefathers and most influential writers during the Golden Age of Science Fiction, working with authors such as Isaac Asimov and Robert Heinlein as chief editor of Astounding Science Fiction magazine.
Which leads to a very nerdy proposition as to how Lana really got her name
Yeah, that's right. Only the biggest science fiction publication company of the 20th century.
It's not strictly science. I just joke about it because of the Campbell connection. Although she has repeatedly stated her influence from vintage/retro scifi and horror in this era. We don't know the original lyrics when it was Malibu, either. It could be an entire concept shift.
Also, it's just that. A concept. Of course her journey isn't completely done, she's human and neither she, nor anyone else in real life, reaches 100% fruition of their goals and dreams wtf. But the language directly indicates inspiration from a literary perspective (again, this doesn't have to be strictly science. And she references literature all the time)
It'd be too optimistic to think that someone in their thirties has everything figured out.
That's why I personally think LfL was more based around a character concept rather than her actual life. Her newfound happiness certainly inspired things, but by crafting a fantastical character attached to the concept (who lives in the Hollywood sign, sings on the moon, etc), she's able to detach her everyday self from the concept. Unfortunately, some critics aren't seeing that, and will now expect her to be happy forever and ever and ever
STARGIRL. YOU. ARE. A. GENIUS.
My mind is BLOWN and now my appreciation of Get Free (and LFL album) has gone THROUGH THE ROOF
