I honestly think she should of just released this last year as a double album with blue banisters- there’s not a big distinction with the albums so it’s weird that they’re split-very BTD/paradise situation

For those that haven’t listened- it is very piano heavy, just in case anybody is expecting it to be guitar oriented.

It’s definitely got a lot of callbacks to NFR- especially some of the stems honestly both peppers and taco truck sound like alt versions of Venice b*tch

The crackle was on BB too but honestly I think her obsession with lo fi elements started on Honeymoon and then kinda went crazy from there- LFL is notorious for muffled singing like in my feelings

We’re trashing Drew but praising a man who uses two different pro tools- pre sets - atleast Drew can compose with originality

There’s a reason those songs still live on and resonate with people more than any other album- because it’s her most solid album writing wise- melodically and lyrically it’s unpretentious and imagery soaked, is the production in need of an update? Yes because the beats can sound tinny at times and the auto-loon is too much- reigning this in just a bit would make it still one of her best albums. Very surprised aka isn’t your favourite tbh

Waiting to see all the lanaboards, Reddit, ATRL bashing as if everyone isn’t crazed

The outfit is great-maybe not for all songs but still-my issue is I can’t tell whether she’s actually singing

Judah isn’t famous enough for anyone to care- the Covid line will definitely cause controversy though

We’ve had this discussion multiple times over the years- she’s never mentioned why she works with some interesting individuals…and I doubt she ever will despite her saying she has a more positive circle

The singles did not perform well by any means- her last well performing single is young and beautiful actually I’ll give you LFL for that era because it hit the top 40 here

It’s not fan fiction- the album was heavily promoted on YouTube and had ads on tv- link these figures- I also stated at that point?

I’d say I’d like to see engagement with this album- we were very lucky during LFL despite the big delay but I’m pretty sure the album being her worst selling at that point cut her off from having to promote by interscope- I’m sure Lana was thrilled We know it will sell now regardless but we need a music video atleast

Speaking of Marianne- which album would you recommend? Slightly off topic but I believe she influenced Lana a little

I don’t know if it’s driving bias as much as they want to continue this weird narrative- it’s got nothing to do with their job to review the music- are we reviewing the album or Lanas ascent to stardom?

Note to reviewers- scrap the boring think pieces on Lana- concentrate on what you think of the production, what is the lyrical content addressing, is it appealing to a mass audience or is it niche- has it evolved her sound?- some of the tracks certainly seem so

The times was really positive which is great- again even if the album is sh*t she’s not going to be panned- lust for life started the wave of everything she makes being acclaimed because retrospectively her first few albums were review bombed massively- even most of these don’t totally focus on the quality of the music- there’s too much talk about public perception and her impact on other artists which isn’t really what reviewers should be looking at.

She promoted it as much as blue banisters- they both had one public performance which is why it makes no sense that she was trying to keep blue banisters from being heard-both had limited promo and it’s still more than ocean 💀

Candyfloss is top 10 in her discog- a tunnel under ocean boulevard highlight me thinks
