  1. So you think she's working with Jack, famous for Lorde, Taylor, etc., and she's going to have MAC as a lead single? Really?
  2. It's so clear to me that MAC and Venice Bitch are not lead singles from the upcoming album. She has said in the interview with Annie Mac they were random songs she released. I like both songs - but Lana still has the mainstream appeal and she is signed to Interscope. Even when Gaga tried to do the folk thing, they made the lead single Perfect Illusion. My point is: the lead single will likely be out the in the new year and likely be the most mainstream/pop-like (as pop as Lana gets) to get interest and awareness of the album. Every album she has released the lead single is always a bit more mainstream (West Coast, HBTB, Love).
  3. I don't mean to be the bearer of bad news but she clearly says in the interview that it's not that surfy. So I think we need to keep expectations in check. I also have a strange feeling that the album may be called "Venice Bitch" - it is the second song out. Although I have doubts with that theory too. Mostly, bc I'm doubting MAC is the lead single - from the interview it sounds like it's a random song (she said she randomly released it). I think the "lead single" off the new album won't come out until closer to the New Year.
  4. Also, I don't think MAC is a lead single. Lana is a bit left of center when it comes to the music scene - BUT she's still a big name and she typically releases her most pop/universal sounding song as her lead single (even if the rest of the album sounds nothing like the song i.e. HBTB and Honeymoon album). My thought is this is a stand alone songs - or maybe MAC is a teaser to the second song, which is the lead single.
  5. I like the snippet of MAC, but I'm hoping the other song is completely different and more upbeat. I was thrilled when I heard she was working with Jack b/c he uses cool beats and the songs, even if sad in content, have a catchy vibe to them (similar to BTD). I like how Lana makes producers flex to her vision, but it also seems weird she would choose to work with someone who has the credits he does if she wasn't planning on doing a bigger, dare I say even pop-like sound (I'm not talking Katy Perry here - more Lykke Li vibish). Also, I'm not convinced this is for an album yet. But they've been working together for awhile now so I would hate to think it was all this time for two songs............
  6. This is painful. Are there any rumors? Any hints? It's been over a year since LFL. I didn't expect a new album yet - but at least some news on when we might expect something. I thought I saw some stuff on Twitter saying there was supposed to be a new single in June, but she pushed back.
  7. I just want ONE new iconic song in the realm of Blue Jeans/Born to Die/Y&B. Something noteworthy. I love all her music, but she hasn't had real big hits and I really miss the low, deep vocals with some upbeat, faster production. Doesn't have to be the whole album - just the lead single.
  8. I just want to say - I wouldn't read to much into her new record being in the vein of Change. Remember when she said her new album would sound like BTD and Paradise and we got Honeymoon? I love her - but you really can't trust homegirl to describe her projects. Plus she changes her mind on a dime.
  9. I'm sure someone said this already but I've been re-listening to Madonna's "Ray of Light" and I could see Lana doing this style - really cinematic with some trip electronica. Like, the song "Frozen" would sound awesome and feels like a natural progression... her style, but in a new direction. She definitely won't, but so many songs I could see her doing - and the electronica production sounded so cool.
  10. Uh, does anyone know what's happening with this Gucci thing? Is it even a thing anymore? It looked like a photoshoot - but shouldn't it be out soon?
  11. I think her BTD days are def behind us. I guess wouldn't mind another radio song though to balance out the rest of the album. I keep going back to the Complex interview b/c she was so revealing and talked a lot about not shying away from the bigness of it all. She talked about how UV and HM were here being a bit introspective and she wanted to come out more with LFL. Regardless of the sound - I think her next record will be really interesting b/c it could go any direction (or maybe multiple directions in one record).
  12. Do you guys think she'll move to more "pop" music again? She relies A LOT on BTD material at her concerts - even 6 years down the road. I'm wondering if she is appreciating that material more? It seems like those songs aren't even her style and yet she sings them a lot. Do you think she'll return to that? It felt like LFL was an initial attempt. She said in Complex about LFL not shying away from a bigger sound. It feels like she knows her songs aren't very concert friendly so she has to do the bigger ones to compensate. But why not just come up with a few newer "big" songs?
  13. Well, does anyone think this is tied to this Gucci project? Or separate and co-promotion? She did release Paradise 9 months after Born to Die. Maybe it's an continuation of Lust for Life (like Lust for Life: The Cherry Edition haha).
  14. When do you guys think this is coming out? Fashion Week is in early February - so I assumed it was something timed around then? Or do we think it has nothing to do with a Gucci campaign?
  15. I said this earlier, but Lana will be fine. She's always been controversial and has survived FAR worst. SNL, manufactured look, saying she wished she was dead - all this when her fanbase was far less than it is now. This also is not nearly as big as Madonna v Gaga, Taylor v Kanye, etc. It just happens when you're a celebrity, particularly a musician. This too shall pass. It's already not as big of a story anymore - that's how today's news cycle works.
  16. Not to be an optimist, but I see far more dislike or nasty comments about Radiohead than the other way around. Most of these people are people that never liked LDR anyway. You don't think Taylor, Ariana, Gaga, Katy, Miley, etc get any hate? Not one pop star is universally loved and I think something people need to get a grasp on. If someone says something rude about Lana, that's ok. You can still like her. Eventually this will pass - the SNL performance was far worst backlash and she was just starting out. This isn't that bad.
  17. I agree with what someone said earlier - relaxxxxxxxx. If Lana was so hurt by it, she wouldn't have probably talked about it. She's fighting it. I don't think our girl is as fragile as you guys think. Also, a couple other things: 1) She's not the first artist this has happened to recently. Anyone remember Gaga/Madonna - and that got FARRRR more attention than this, which brings me to my next point. 2) You may to remember we all live in a bubble of LDR. Most people that comment nasty shit are already moved on to the next thing by the time you read it. No one is that personally invested, which brings me to my final point 3) 4K dislikes and 2MM views are not that much. In the grand scheme of what gets likes/disliked and viewed on Youtube that's not even a sizable sample of the world population. It's probably not even 1% We also don't know if this will go to court. And just because you see some nasty Lana comments I can count just as many (if not more) nasty Radiohead comments. So everyone, just relax. Please.
  18. Not doing a radio interview is not caring about her art? haha k, "Ultraviolent"
  19. Uh, it's Lana Del Rey guys. Why are you acting surprised? Go stan J LO
  20. THANK YOU!! Ya'll gotta chill out. And she will sell the rest. Minneapolis sold out today - so will the other dates. Relaxxxxxxxx everyone
  21. Less than a million to go for "Love". This will be her first video since the BTD era to get 100MM views (correct if I'm wrong there)!
  22. This might be reading into this too much - but in a few of her interviews for LFL (this, Complex, etc.) - she seems to be talking about testing the waters in terms of being "out there" more. She talks a lot about needing time to be in herself a little (UV, HM) and my interpretation of all this was after the backlash of SNL, negative responses of BTD (which makes me laugh still it likely remains her most popular work outside of a few songs on the other albums) - she sort of wasn't sure about all this (fame, her style, etc.) I get the impression that as the public has come around (Grammy noms, remixes, big movie numbers, #1/#2 albums on Billboard) she is now more comfortable with it all hence using artists like Weeknd, ASAP, etc (if you remember in her Complex interview, she said she wouldn't have known what to do with a big radio song and that Abel was so big and "out there"). I'm not sure where she will go from here, but it feels like with her "crossing the threshold" that maybe she will try some "bigger music" (some maybe more radio friendly songs - though I doubt she'll ever do a completely radio-friendly album , maybe a song or two). I could be wrong. But she's talking about the same themes over and over again in interviews - and getting involved in "bigger" projects like Gucci, being nominated for Grammy again, etc. Thoughts?
  23. It says "Friends at work". And she looks all done up. Could this be 2018 Spring Gucci campaign starring Jared Leto + LDR !?!?!?!
  24. Ed will absolutely get it. No doubt. But it's amazing she's nominated, get the album more publicity, and she's in great company!
  25. I hope this isn't a home-made video - but regardless, I'm really happy to see her make more of her eras. I felt like UV and particularly Honeymoon she sort of dropped the album and then did nothing. This is the first time in awhile we're getting more than 3 videos (even if it is home-made). Also, I think Cherry is the right song - it's cute & catchy.
