Newark, NJ @ Prudential Center - January 19th, 2018
MJA replied to Elle's topic in 2018 LA to the Moon Tour
I think her BTD days are def behind us. I guess wouldn't mind another radio song though to balance out the rest of the album. I keep going back to the Complex interview b/c she was so revealing and talked a lot about not shying away from the bigness of it all. She talked about how UV and HM were here being a bit introspective and she wanted to come out more with LFL. Regardless of the sound - I think her next record will be really interesting b/c it could go any direction (or maybe multiple directions in one record). -

Do you guys think she'll move to more "pop" music again? She relies A LOT on BTD material at her concerts - even 6 years down the road. I'm wondering if she is appreciating that material more? It seems like those songs aren't even her style and yet she sings them a lot. Do you think she'll return to that? It felt like LFL was an initial attempt. She said in Complex about LFL not shying away from a bigger sound. It feels like she knows her songs aren't very concert friendly so she has to do the bigger ones to compensate. But why not just come up with a few newer "big" songs? -

Well, does anyone think this is tied to this Gucci project? Or separate and co-promotion? She did release Paradise 9 months after Born to Die. Maybe it's an continuation of Lust for Life (like Lust for Life: The Cherry Edition haha). -
When do you guys think this is coming out? Fashion Week is in early February - so I assumed it was something timed around then? Or do we think it has nothing to do with a Gucci campaign?

Radiohead Sues Lana for Copyright Infringement on "Get Free"
MJA replied to reputation's topic in Latest News
I said this earlier, but Lana will be fine. She's always been controversial and has survived FAR worst. SNL, manufactured look, saying she wished she was dead - all this when her fanbase was far less than it is now. This also is not nearly as big as Madonna v Gaga, Taylor v Kanye, etc. It just happens when you're a celebrity, particularly a musician. This too shall pass. It's already not as big of a story anymore - that's how today's news cycle works. -
Radiohead Sues Lana for Copyright Infringement on "Get Free"

Not to be an optimist, but I see far more dislike or nasty comments about Radiohead than the other way around. Most of these people are people that never liked LDR anyway. You don't think Taylor, Ariana, Gaga, Katy, Miley, etc get any hate? Not one pop star is universally loved and I think something people need to get a grasp on. If someone says something rude about Lana, that's ok. You can still like her. Eventually this will pass - the SNL performance was far worst backlash and she was just starting out. This isn't that bad. -
Radiohead Sues Lana for Copyright Infringement on "Get Free"

I agree with what someone said earlier - relaxxxxxxxx. If Lana was so hurt by it, she wouldn't have probably talked about it. She's fighting it. I don't think our girl is as fragile as you guys think. Also, a couple other things: 1) She's not the first artist this has happened to recently. Anyone remember Gaga/Madonna - and that got FARRRR more attention than this, which brings me to my next point. 2) You may to remember we all live in a bubble of LDR. Most people that comment nasty shit are already moved on to the next thing by the time you read it. No one is that personally invested, which brings me to my final point 3) 4K dislikes and 2MM views are not that much. In the grand scheme of what gets likes/disliked and viewed on Youtube that's not even a sizable sample of the world population. It's probably not even 1% We also don't know if this will go to court. And just because you see some nasty Lana comments I can count just as many (if not more) nasty Radiohead comments. So everyone, just relax. Please. -

Less than a million to go for "Love". This will be her first video since the BTD era to get 100MM views (correct if I'm wrong there)! -
This might be reading into this too much - but in a few of her interviews for LFL (this, Complex, etc.) - she seems to be talking about testing the waters in terms of being "out there" more. She talks a lot about needing time to be in herself a little (UV, HM) and my interpretation of all this was after the backlash of SNL, negative responses of BTD (which makes me laugh still it likely remains her most popular work outside of a few songs on the other albums) - she sort of wasn't sure about all this (fame, her style, etc.) I get the impression that as the public has come around (Grammy noms, remixes, big movie numbers, #1/#2 albums on Billboard) she is now more comfortable with it all hence using artists like Weeknd, ASAP, etc (if you remember in her Complex interview, she said she wouldn't have known what to do with a big radio song and that Abel was so big and "out there"). I'm not sure where she will go from here, but it feels like with her "crossing the threshold" that maybe she will try some "bigger music" (some maybe more radio friendly songs - though I doubt she'll ever do a completely radio-friendly album , maybe a song or two). I could be wrong. But she's talking about the same themes over and over again in interviews - and getting involved in "bigger" projects like Gucci, being nominated for Grammy again, etc. Thoughts?

It says "Friends at work". And she looks all done up. Could this be 2018 Spring Gucci campaign starring Jared Leto + LDR !?!?!?! -

Ed will absolutely get it. No doubt. But it's amazing she's nominated, get the album more publicity, and she's in great company! -
MTV ('Cherry' as possible next Music Video) - November 12th, 2017 [Video]
MJA replied to Elle's topic in New Interviews
I hope this isn't a home-made video - but regardless, I'm really happy to see her make more of her eras. I felt like UV and particularly Honeymoon she sort of dropped the album and then did nothing. This is the first time in awhile we're getting more than 3 videos (even if it is home-made). Also, I think Cherry is the right song - it's cute & catchy. -

I'm hoping for a Cherry video. I like the darker beats and it's cute. It's also great to see her more dedicated to playing out her eras. I feel like with UV and HM she was sort of checked out before it even started (from a video perspective). Hoping for some lavish/technicolor look for Cherry - but you never know with her. We'll see. If it happens, I imagine it would happen before her tour kicks off. -

Does anyone think we'll get one more video this era? I'm thinking no - but then remember she released Freak music video nearly six months after Honeymoon was released. If so, what song? Seems weird she wouldn't take advantage of Cherry or even GBAAATBWIT... -

It was always going to drop. Almost all artists struggle to get to #1 let alone stay there for weeks. From as long as I can remember it's been awhile where she has stayed in the top 10. I'd actually say this is really good for her. -

Meek just dropped to #4 on US iTunes and Lana went back to #1... She's still at #6 on Apple Music, but think she is winning over him on Spotify... -

Is Urban Outfitters not releasing an exclusive vinyl? I haven't heard anything, but thought they might. -
Born To Die / Paradise Lust for Life Ultraviolence Honeymoon

Alright, who the hell thought In My Feelings would be the track I'm so excited for?!? OMG that song sounds amazing. I think the drastic change from the faster, harder beats section (first 8 tracks) to the more politically charged and guitar driven section (tracks 9-16) almost feels deliberate. I would definitely say the record is divided (I think intentionally), but not disconnected. There is a difference.
-
I agree... I'm saying I don't think it's GBAAATBWIT - I think it's just GBA. That and her talking about Yosemite make me think it's fake. I know the interview was last month but I doubt she would mention it twice, sing the chorus, and then be like "actually, nevermind".
-
I'm sure buried somewhere it's been discussed - but I'm really struggling to believe that the leaked track list is real. She's now mentioned Yosemite twice and referred to the song as "God Bless America" twice (not how it's written out on what leaked). I'm sure some of those songs are real (including Summer Bummer) - but I don't think all of them are. Anyone else agree?
-
It's weird how everyone is freaking out over a song title. She's always had bogus song titles. Let's be real, if we heard she was releasing a song called "Summertime Sadness", we would have been bitching about how lame of a title it is --- and it's probably her most well-known song. Born To Die, Sad Girl, High by the Beach, This is what makes us girls - all weird titles that ended up being amazing songs. Point is: everyone relaxxxxxxxx.
