Blue Banisters - Pre-Release Thread: OUT October 22nd, 2021
MJA replied to Elle's topic in Retired Pre-Release Threads
I was re-watching the video and I’m now wondering if the trap beat and horns are actually the background of Black Bathing Suit. It fades out on the video but wonder if it just continues on the album goes directly into black bathing suit! next single! -

Just listened again. I'm convinced Black Bathing Suit is a bop. The trap interlude that leads into it, and it's the #4 song (5 with Interlude, but not counting) is perfect position. Maybe the next single before 10/22 release!?!?! -

So do you think the interlude and trap beat lead into a trap song (Black Bathing Suit) since it’s next on track list. I wonder if this is a HBTB on Honeymoon album situation. -
Okay thanks. I agree. Thunder doesn't sound like a ballad to me, but I guess it depends on how you define it.
-
I thought an insider said it was piano-driven album, but unless she re-worked some songs there seems to be more than just piano (I haven't listened to Dealer, but saw how people were commenting). Not expecting a bop, but curious if we had news on that.
-
Hi everyone. LBs was down yesterday so I couldn't log in so I may have missed some things. What makes people think Thunder is on the album? That would be amazing, but wasn't sure where that rumor started? Also, is this a mostly piano/ballad album? I thought I saw somewhere BoZ said that, but could be mistaken. It would be fun to have some diversity. I liked how on HM she had mostly ballads, but one bop (HBTB). I may have missed info so was just curious.
-
This is a good point. Core of the album doesn't necessarily mean lead single, too (in some cases, like above, it does). I'm curious b/c I remember when MAC and VB came out for NFR, didn't they call them buzz singles? RCS was giving me more BTD, dare I say radio-friendly vibes, but I'm sure it's something else.
-
I like these tracks, but I was really craving a beat. I thought with Mike we'd get something with BTD vibes. She has probably moved past that, but something that's a bit lighter and fun. Do we know what the lead single is??
-
I'm sure this was mentioned already, but it's been a busy day. These are buzz singles I read somewhere and not the lead single. Do we know what the lead single is yet?
-
I noticed recently her vibe is very 90's Alt, like grunge-y. Wonder if that will be a sound she might explore with COCC. She does sort of dress the way each record sounds: BTD - Glamour hipster UV - Dark and moody HM - Relaxed LFL - Light and optimistic But not sure about NFR. Anyway, probably not but still fun to think about.

Haven't been on in a few days. Any news? This feels so weird that NOTHING has leaked - not a song, lyric title, nothing! If this album is really out Sept 4th/5th, than wouldn't she release a single soon? Even if it's a quieter release, like Honeymoon, she would want to get some awareness out and release a single by early August? I'm kidding myself. This is Lana we're talking about
-
Haven't posted in forever, but I'm back! I've been thinking about the vibe of this album, and I was feeling a NFR 2.0 as well. I don't see this going down a UV road. UV was a response to a lot of criticism (from BTD) that pissed her off. She's more established now. One thing I've been thinking about is how her music has become more accessible. The sounds and vibes of it. I don't think she'll go down the BTD road, but thinking of LFL and NFR and even her Charlie's Angels song, maybe she will try something more radio-friendly? It feels like she's passed that, but I find her more recent records flirt with the idea of commercial or a bit more mainstream (especially with Jack as producer). Regardless, I'm excited for this upcoming album because nothing has leaked, so there is no telling where she could go.

Doesn't she have to be nominated for categories she was submitted for? So assuming the 2 nominations is true, wouldn't it have to be for AOTY, pop vocal, ROTY, SOTY, Pop solo performance, or best music video? I think she has a shot at pop vocal. AOTY would be amazing, and while she deserves it from a critics perspective, Grammys base a lot on radio (or at least that's what it feels like). -

I know! Billie will be nominated because (and to be fair) it has been a big album. I just hope they aren't nominated against one another. Personally, I think Billie will be nominated for AOTY and I hope Lana isn't and nominated for Best Alt. Because she can win that. I also think there will be big competition with Lizzo. -

I agree! My guess would be maybe Billie? But hopefully she is submitted for pop vocal. I hope they truly put her in the alternative album category? Is that presented in the telecast? -

Agree! It's one of the top playing songs on the album according to Apple Music. How can she not do a video for it? -

I really think she has a chance at a Grammy nomination. It's getting universal acclaim. I thought I saw a publication say it was AOTY. I was happy she was nominated for LFL, but I never thought she would actually win. I actually think she has a shot with NFR. It's that good. -
Agree! We need to ask all this! What is the next music video/single (the amusement park footage)? What is happening with WHF? Is Jack producing it? When will the 'Angel' song and music video drop? You know she will just say some random names, talk about shit we already know, and then sign off. Yep, heard that too. I was specifically talking about the cover art white shirt on her website. It says it ships Oct 30 but would love to buy now and wear to the show.
-
I was going to buy it at one of her shows. Do you think they will sell them there? I saw the Oct 30th date too. Weird. Can you let us know when it arrives?

She's going to #1 in the UK. Shame we won't at least get #2 here. -
She needs to play many of the NFR tracks! Normally, I like when artists play their most popular songs, but she's exhausted it at this point. Plus, this album, despite not many bops, has given her some songs that have more energy live (Doin Time, The Greatest, FIILY, Vence Bitch, Cinnamon Girl). So, she doesn't have all ballads anymore.

ADVICE NEEDED: I want to buy the vinyl but am unsure which to get: The NFR cover as it is, but I think the records are just black OR the one on her website where the cover is patterned, but the vinyl's are neon green? Has anyone purchased the regular cover (non-patterned) and the records themselves are green?
