Can someone tell me how neohumanism knows shit before Lana posts? Didn't they post about something we'd see Friday and then she posted about the two new songs/video.

I definitely remember a tracklist that had "the greatest" on it, too. I can't remember if I saw it here or Twitter. I'm sure this has already been mentioned, but wondering if there is a comic book vibe to the video. I noticed the big muscle guy tagged DC comics and Marvel comics in his post. That plus the new logo...maybe there is a comic book vibe to the video?

If the pre-order did happen today, wouldn't it have happened already? Or no? I'm genuinely asking. Not sure how it usually works. Honestly, what is so hard with a tweet or throwing the fucking cover up. Ridiculous.

I can't believe how delusional we were last year when she dropped MAC and VB. If we only knew then that we would be waiting nearly a full year! It's so crazy and surreal. My guess is Aug 30th for the album. She won't get #1 spot, but maybe she has a chance at a Grammy nom. She'll get extra promo and attention from the Charlie's Angels song & MV. I was hoping for the lead single before August 9th. Seems weird to have only a 3 week gap between lead single and album release.

Yeah, except a lot of Lana's sales will also be sourced from Billie's --- they play in a very similar genre. I could be wrong, but I think Lana can definitely still get #2. She may even surprise and get #1, but who knows.

August 30th does seem more likely than the 16th. Taylor will probably still outsell. But #2 isn't bad. BTD went #2 and is still on the Billboard charts. I think her label (and maybe her, but probably not) are more interested in getting her in for a Grammy nom than for getting a #1 billboard record.

Yeah you're right. I actually think that was probably the plan. Do some more pop friendly songs like Doin Time and Don't call me Angel and then leave everything she likes on her actual album. Maybe she'll do a VMA performance? I imagine because its Ariana and Miley that might happen in Sept and she'll be forced. Or they use a hologram.

Being a Lana stan is the worst. Everything is a mindfuck. Didn't Interscope say that a lead single would be coming (this was after Hope is a Dangerous Thing...). Where is that single? I get this is low-key, but you still have to promote, to what degree is debatable, but still. Interscope is like "Yeah, don't do anything bitch. We cool with that. We just spent mad cash on you, but don't do shit. That works". I find that hard to believe. What I don't get is the indie vibes she wants her albums to have, like she wants to be low-key, and that's fine. But then she does a song with Ariana and Miley for a big ass movie? And a high budget video? Like WTF? I could go either way with the date. August 16th seems legit because of Taylor. She will dominate the first few weeks. So, they probably want Lana to get her #1. August 30th seems legit because it gives more time to build up buzz and the Charlie's Angels song will probably quickly follow to add some promotion. But my head hurts now.

I agree with everyone that the wait is annoying. But there might be things most of us aren't privy too. For instance, we were all screaming for the album and then found out a massive collaboration with Miley and Ariana was a thing. So I'm sure that factors in to when they release albums, singles, etc. It probably applies to Miley right now too.

Didn't the press release say that the lead single was to come? I imagine that there will be at least a 6 week gap between the lead single and the actual album release. We would need to get the lead single this month to even hit an August release. We're getting close to a Sept release at this point :/

I agree with this! This is actually really smart. She did Doin Time and this song - two bigger, louder songs - which then pretty much allows her to stick with her more mellow mood for her record yet retain her relevancy. It's sort of genius.

I heard about this months ago - Apparently it's a banger and their expecting it to be a huge song. She sings the bridge and is on the chorus with them. Music vid is also coming and yes, all three are in it.

That makes sense to release the week before - to at least get a #1. I guess I'm just confused on how they will release the Ariana/Miley/Lana song AND a lead single for Lana. Feels smarter to spread them apart a bit, but I'm not going to pretend to understand how the music industry works. I also think the Ariana/Miley/Lana track will be released this Friday. Lana's team might be sloppy, but I doubt Ariana's would let things leak out without knowing and/or having a plan that it will be released sooner than we think.

I have a hard time believing she will release the same day as Taylor. I doubt she cares, but Interscope would lose $$ wouldn't they? it's not exactly the same fan bases, but there is some overlap. Feels weird to release when you know something big is coming that day. August 30th makes sense to be eligible for Grammy's and avoid T Swift.

Part of me thinks the album will come out in Sept too - but then I think her label may want her to get it out right before Grammy deadline. Taylor's album throws a wrench into everything because even if she releases the last Friday in August, Taylor could still have the #1 album. It would have only been out a week. I get these doesn't care, but it's nice to see her still score #1's and not have to play the game a lot of her contemporaries have to do. Gives her some swag. Lead single should be here within a month hopefully!

I bet it will be mid August before Taylor's drops. I doubt her label wants the competition on 8/23. So either the week before that or the week after. It was smart to have her do the collab with Ariana/Miley a few months before to build up momentum.

I agree with this. I see a lot of outrage on LB because of things people created in their head. "Lana is doing a folk album!" *Lana releases a non-folk track* LB response: She said she was doing a folk album! I'm unstanning! I think there is lots that we are not privy too and it makes sense considering all the leaks she has had in the past. Ben said the album is coming this year. It's June. I'm sure we'll have a single before end of summer and an album after that.

I don't think the album is scrapped. I think they are planning a release for a Friday where there is less competition. At the end of the day, Interscope wants to make $$ and all of her albums have scored #2 or #1 spots on Billboard and I think they still want that. Between Miley, Katy, upcoming Madonna album, Taylor - there is a lot happening and I think they are trying to find the right time. Normally this wouldn't be a problem except Lana teases music as if it's coming out right now and then it's months and months and months later.

It's so hard to believe anything she says. She said Honeymoon was similar sound to BTD/P and it's totally different. She also talked a ton about songs on LFL that never made it (i.e. Yosemite) and even said it had a bigger sound (sorta true, but not really). Net net: You can't trust her to describe her own material.
