Minor General Questions that Don't Deserve Their Own Thread
Jazzmin replied to Monicker's topic in Lana Thoughts
It was only a while ago that I've come across Song of Myself. Mon Dieu, how beautiful it is . Are there any other recordings of Lana reading poetry? -
Limelight by Alizée. Its lyrics are very plain yet maybe good in some way but the way they're sung... it's kinda "empty". I'd like to hear it sung by an English native singer. For instance Lana with her beautiful accent <3 .

Au bout de la nuit - Mylène Farmer

Have I missed something and she said the song will be in English? This cover reminds me of Britney's "Femme Fatale", the title kinda announces a light song where lyrics don't matter, I mean, kinda a song about banal things, not feeling. She also said that the album is going to have more "dance songs" which also leaves me rather pessimistic. Of course, I'm not against good "dance" songs, I looove listening to most Alizée or Mylène remixes. Or even see how the situation with "Moi... Lolita" was - in 2000 many people were dancing to this song in clubs and still the song, both in its melody, both in its lyrics, is a masterpiece. Here I get Britney associations and in my imagination "Blonde" is a French version of cheap "I don't wanna go-oh-oh-oh". Or maybe just another "Oui... mais non".

That's true ^^ . Alizée is a blonde now and when it comes to my personal opinion, she looks pretty. But what's more important and what's the reason why I refreshed this thread is that Alizée is due to release her new single Blonde on March 18, this year (sic!). Hoping it turns out good cause I'm worried the lyrics won't be as clever as of her previous songs. But we'll see, after all, it's only few days left before its release...

And in "Lolita" Carmen is also a significant reference to that opera. I have a suspicion that Lana too references to it in her songs but to be honest I've never checked it... Actually, I do not know the opera (although I want to because a friend of mine told me it is really good!) and I just hope to go and see it in theater one day. So that's it, before I go any further I gotta see "Carmen" >.< . But yeah, Carmen is likely to be her alter ego, just in the way Lolita is.

I don't. But I do share the birthday of such people as Francisco Goya, Paul Verlaine, Vincent van Gogh, Gabriela Zapolska, Céline Dion... Maybe there's some hope for me & my dreams <3

1949 1. 1949 (in general the lyrics we know, just better quality of the audio. Obviously a single, the music video showing Lana and her friends going across the US and their adventures in bars and such places) 2. White Socks (with some slight reference to "Lolita" - "standing four feet ten in one song, some simple yet clever Lana-ish similes. The music plain and peaceful as well ) 3. Cigarettes and Lollipops (a more catchy track, lyrics not too sophisticated, telling us what cigarettes she likes to smoke, how, wen and with whom to smoke, how she likes to... lick lollipops. The second single. The music video showing Lana having fun in lunapark, wearin her heart-shaped glasses.) 4. Flower Motel Nation (Song about hippies but also about the youngest generation in the US.) 5. July to July (Full of America-related elements.) 6. New Blue Bathing Suit (With references to "This Is What Makes Us Girls". Next single but no music vid.) 7. Across the USA (Again, travellin across the US, bla bla bla.) 8. Little Miss (About a young girl who asks her more experiences friends about life.)

Her vids such as "Ur So Gay" or "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" are so stupidly funny. Even good in some way. Watching them a lot would do no good to my brain, I guess, but as the source of silly humor, they do. Generally, I'm not her fan but Katy is rather good. "Roar" is the most annoying piece of "music" I've ever heard, though.

Moi... Lolita - Alizée
